    This is brilliant, whoever filmed it should be given a knighthood...The beautiful chaos of The Pogues in their pomp, meeting up in the early afternoon, having a good drink then going to see them in the evening.... I'd go back to those days in a heartbeat, RIP Kirsty, Phil, Daryl and Shane xxxx

      I agree .I watched them from 85 onwards ..mainly in mcr dont ever remember hearing them this good.. whoever had the foresight to record bearing in mind it would be on a hand held cini camera is beyond me .I could barely keep myself upright at these gigs.a heartfelt thanks to this person.

      Just wish he stayed well to sing and write like this for longer. They were only a band for a year here and five years later he couldn't sing or write songs! Massive loss to music. Fir me him and Kurt Cobain are the biggest losses

      I know, it's tragic only a few yrs later he looked,talked,walked,sang like a different person. His sister and dad hated fairytale as the tour they put him on coz he was never the same again. An alcoholic and heroin addict after that tour

    Was at this and also the two following Barrowland gigs in 86 and 87. One of my greatest musical memories was seeing Kirsty MacColl come onstage during the '87 show to sing Fairytale with Shane. Such a beautiful surprise! I only found out a couple of days ago that this was the first time it had ever been played live in public. I feel truly honoured to have experienced this event, one of the greatest songs of all time and the togetherness of two of the most amazing and talented individuals. I missed Kirsty so much when she left too early. It never seemed right. Now Shane. But they will both be remembered for their huge hearts, immense generosity and freedom of spirit. May they be making merry, laughing and enjoying the heavens above. After all, it's only returning home...❤

      My school’s mascot was a Saracen - to which every other school used to say “What the F is a Saracen?” (because evidently they didn’t have books at their school). You just took me back all those years, lol.

    An amazing historical document. If I had a time machine, I'd go back and see the early Pogues. This whole mess makes me feel like crying and glad to be alive at the same time.

    So many amazing memories I would meet Shane and Philip in the Heilen Jessie pub before they played the Glasgow Barrowlands and we would have a glass or two and a sing song with the old boys in the pub before they played in Barrowlands. You'll never be forgotten Philip and I'm sure you still have a glass as you watch over us all. Stay strong Shane love and respect xxx

    Sir , You are a legend. This is a fantastic video .
    It may not be 4k video with dolby surround sound , but it does capture the raw sound and energy from a paying punters perspective.
    Thanks you.

    • @prangbro
      @prangbro 4 года назад +1

      I agree! In many ways, Poguetry in Motion was their peak. Not just the songwriting and tightness of the band, enhanced by Terry's expertise, but the sheer range: an Irish instrumental, a three-act play that foreshadowed Fairytale (Body), a devastating romantic ballad and a totally unexpected soul banger. Imagine if they'd made and recorded more tunes in that mode, when Shane was unstoppable, rather than waiting two more years to release...

    I was there. My first Pogues gig of many. It was the QM's Daft Friday event (Daft Friday was the GUU's event. I can't remember what the QM's event was - Dafter Friday?). Costello was there, trying to blend in to the background. Some have claimed this was the Barrowland show which IIRC they played the next day, but if you look at the size of the stage and the backdrop, it's definitely the QM.
