I remember during the Vshojo New Year's Eve party, Matara getting very emotional and telling Mouse "You saved my life" in regards to getting Gunrun to recruit her she left Niji. At the time, I assumed she was being hyperbolic, or maybe saying that metaphorically. Company has had quite a few exits over the years though EN has missed a number of them since they were on the JP side like Lulu, Gibara, etc. People exited and ended up doing indie vtubing. Another member from way back even famously left the company to join Hololive and is still there to this day. There were a lot of signs of this stuff. It's just a shame things had to get to this point before they got more backlash.
I just want to say not all VTuber agencies are like Nijisanji. The difference between Hololive and Nijisanji is that Hololive feels like they want to improve and to make sure situations don’t happen again and their managers seem to have a good relationship with the member. Even if there are rules and they still want to do what’s best for the talent and help them achieve creating projects that the members want to make, they even let their past channels be active and do more things outside of Hololive. Hololive appreciating Holocure game and are happy to help fans make passion projects like Holocure. But Nijisanji seems to like they don’t learn from their past mistakes and things just keeps getting worse. I just want say during this shit show, Hololive, probably the biggest VTuber agency out there put out their yearly financial support and it showed that each of their members got a salary of 30k a month, completely independent of their merch sales, superchats, and other income. When the stakeholders asked the CEO, Motoaki “Yagoo” Tanigo, to be like Anycolor (Nijisanji) to make more money, he responded’ “We pay our talent what we believe they are worth, and will not lowering their pay.
A friend of mine phrased it quite well: the big difference between Hololive and Nijisanji is that Holo learned from the mistakes they made and improved. There are still issues, sometimes shit happens. But even then, one always gets the impression of a warm relationship between staff and talents there, even in parting.

The company holding ownership of your persona is of no benefit for anyone, perfectly illustrated by Niji when they spark this situation over an IP they own themselves (Mysta and Nina on Selen's video). Corpos are not going to replace another liver to the same model, they don't release merch or advertising for past livers so no profits over their IP, they don't appear officially in promotions or anything else so no more exposure for their IP, they serve only as another entry on their wiki page. I hope in the aftermath of this, with Doki basically shattering some taboos on past lives with how open all this situation is, the scene as a whole can move forward to a more worker friendly environment.

It's been corrected many times across multiple platforms that Elira's *visit* to Japan with a work VISA would never be as precarious a situation to give Kurosanji the leverage people think they have over her. Even in the toxic work environment that is Japan, employees on a work VISA have at least 3 months standard to find a new job in a "related sector," in this case basically being all of the entertainment industry. And that's if the authorities are feeling super stickler to the rules. Speaking of, that's the other point to remember: Kurosanji does *NOT* control the work VISAs they hand out to their livers; the governing body of the foreign country they are working from does. Meaning Kurosanji can't just magically take the VISA away and not only leave Elira stranded, but at risk of being deported. That just isn't a real scenario in any business reality.

7:53 that's the only thing that I disagree with. Should Blizzard allow full access to their databases to ex-employees just because they worked on one or two projects? Or access to their private corporate devices by those ex-employees? If a person worked at a wood shop should they still be allowed access to the tools even if they don't work there anymore? They accept the contract knowing that they're providing their entertainment talent in exchange for the use of the company owned assets. By doing so instead of being indie they also get access to marketing and other privileges that indies don't have. OR AT LEAST SHOULD.

The person made accusations and named people in a document her lawyer freely sent out to people…she needs a better lawyer.

The main issue here is, who TF did she need permission from beyond the song’s author and the song’s publisher? I’ve heard people bring up two ex-Niji livers whose characters were used, but I’ve also heard those can be used freely for most purposes, such as fanart. What does their appearance as artwork in the music video qualify as, if not fanart? Because that’s what they were, art in the background of the music video.

It's the same logic: Talents are using the assets of the company to do their job. They accept the contract knowing that they're providing their entertainment talent in exchange for the use of the company owned assets.
By doing so instead of being indie they also get access to marketing and other privileges that indies don't have.

This is more or less how Vshojo is operating, their path to victory is by operating purely as a marketing platform for the VTubers working with them, without controlling them much at all (and having managers that actually help the VTubers do whatever projects they have in mind). Meanwhile Hololive seems to strike a balance, with decent freedom and assistance within clear and stable boundaries. Nijisanji has been going for tight control, with hot ass for management, and unclear boundaries that you probably already overstepped because they never bothered to tell you and haven’t checked in with you in 2 months.
The only way Niji will face consequences is if somebody finds a billionaire benefactor to out-litigate Niji's billionaire owner. They're DEFINITELY violating all those draconian Japanese defamation laws, but the talents are smart enough to know they can't afford to win a legal battle.

Nijisanji actually isn't an idol company and never was. They're streamers and have distanced themselves from any sort of idol stuff. The group that are idols is Hololive, but contrary to the situation with Nijisanji they're actually treated really well. Nijisanji issues are just typical shitty management issues. I'm specifying this, because this stuff has been causing some blow back toward the girls at Hololive.

What if I have a client that accuses you of something and I say I have collaborating material I will show you but you have to sign a nda which then means you can’t investigate it or disclose anything in the evidence…so then we go to court and you can’t investigate or question it it is just fact then….thats why it’s known to not be private once it’s sent out. The person made accusations and named people in a document her lawyer freely sent out to people…she needs a better lawyer.
This also depends on which country's laws are being applied as it may be different in Japan and wherever Doki and her lawyer are based
Also if there is a written agreement to say that the information provided will not be shared to other parties apart from legal teams then that would be a breach of agreement

I get this feeling the whole Doki's document being shared by the Nijisanji company to the livers, meant they were going to use their own livers and other employees in the know to cover their own rears.
