Usually when lots of people "hate" something it means the movie/show is actually great :D Cause on things that are boring people would not waste their time. So, it really does not matter what kind of emotion the movie/show causes as long as it not indiffirence.
If you’re worried abt Disney not being able to have a series be serious, deep, and bad ass, then you haven’t seen Secret Invasion yet (yes I’m aware this was recorded well before SI premiered 😂)
Don't worry, Jen! Most of the fans are with you on this. There's no reason for it to have gotten this complicated, especially when the Netflix shows worked perfectly well in the MCU continuity 😅
I loved Luke Cage and I didnt mind Ironfist but I can't say it was good, I enjoyed the Luke Cage crossover bits a lot and it certainly seemed it was setting up for something better at the end of season 2. Shame it all ended really.
Best way to explain what went on with Luke Cage S1... He lived in the shadows for a long time because he was a wanted man. S1 is Luke stepping out of those shadows to be a hero to the people of Harlem. During that time he became estranged from Jessica, was briefly involved with that police detective woman, and without giving too much away he defeated several antagonists while others rose up. But in the end, he knew the only way to get his life back was to surrender and serve his time. That's why he's getting out of jail at the beginning of THE DEFENDERS.
Holden-I'm glad to see You & Jen watching this Series! Other Jen-except for Claire and Luke becoming a couple, You didn't need to watch Luke Cage or Iron fist!
I think the way they'll approach the soft reboot for Daredevil is similar to The Incredible Hulk. In TIH, they made a couple vague references to the previous Hulk movie with Eric Bana in 2003, but nothing specific to directly tie them together. They'll probably do something similar with DD:BA, as the Netflix series tied into the MCU, so the new series can reference it vaguely while still letting it sort of remain as is. Sort of a "just ignore that" period of history.
Holden, please have Jenn watch Luke Cage. He's my 2nd favorite from the Netflix era of Marvel shows. Luke has a god backstory. The only part of his series that I didn't like were the main villains. Story and context of the show was very good IMO.
Charlie Cox is excellent as Daredevil. A good, short run’ show that he is in is Treason. Excellent spy stuff, and he gets to act with his native, British, accent :)
HUGE apprehension about Daredevil: Born Again considering they've replaced the actress playing Vanessa, and there's no confirmation yet that Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll are back to reprise their roles as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page. As far as I know, only Charlie Cox, Vincent D'onofrio, and Jon Bernthal have been confirmed for the show. I really hope Henson and Woll are just an extremely well-kept secret because they bring so much to the show, they work so well with Cox as the heart of his world
Interesting thing on the Martin Skrelli thing. The price increase only impacted insurance companies. I believe they offered a coupon to get it super cheap or free for people without insurance
When it comes to Iron Fist and Luke Cage in their shows they really teased Heroes for Hire and Daughters of the Dragon with Misty and Colleen like in the comics.
Defenders is a great show. BTW. yes, some people didn't like season one of Iron Fist, but I enjoyed it. My friend Jeff, who was more a fan of the comics, said he was too whiny, but it didn't bother me. As for Daredevil: Born Again, I would prefer the grittier version of DD, but I did also enjoy the funny, flirty version we got in She Hulk too.
For context, The Defenders are a "street level" team while The Avengers deal with massive, often planetary or cosmic threats. While some street level heroes (Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Shang Chi, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Echo, etc) have eventually made it to one of the many Avengers teams, (Avengers, New Avengers, Westcoast Avengers, Midwest Avengers, A-Force, Mighty Avengers, Young Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, etc) they mostly deal with street level crime. The main reason why the Avengers don't do street level is because it stops them from being labeled a vigilante. They are "above the law" and regarded as heroes instead of being seen as breaking the law. How many times have the police hunted or hated Spider-Man, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Punisher, etc...
Doubt you guys would watch the other shows like Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD but if you ever get a chance to watch them off camera then you definitely should. Agents of shield is probably my favourite out of all the marvel shows, Daredevil is an incredibly close second.
The reason is Marvel TV died. The reason that the Netflix shows even exists was a separation of Marvel TV from Marvel Studios. There is a bunch of behind the scenes politics you can read involving Isaac Perlmutter at Marvel Entertainment, Dan Buckley at Marvel TV and Kevin Feige at Marvel Studios. Perlmutter and Buckley wanted to vamp up the TV division outside of ABC and created the NetFlix partnership. With all the politics and the loss of control of Marvel Studios which then fell under Disney Studios Perlmutter tried to increase the TV brand. After a number of failures including the Inhumans and Iron Fist the end was coming for the direction that Marvel Entertainment had with its direction of certain properties. This is really quick but Disney has folded Marvel Entertainment under other Disney operations and made Kevin Feige Marvel's Chief Creative Officer which now puts Marvel Entertainment and Marvel TV under Feige going forward. Basically Marvel Studio spun out of Marvel Entertainment only to take it over. It was honestly all politicking by the Disney Board to get rid of Ike Perlmutter who was problematic at best as one of the directors of Disney and Marvel. There is so much behind the scenes and how horrible a person Perlmutter was that really ruined the Marvel brand but he did know how to make money. I get what you are saying but for me and this is my opinion the Netflix shows were good but they were not Marvel comics to me. I like all the actors except Finn Jones. For Iron Fist they should have hired someone that had some martial arts experience. The show's in general began to drag on to me. Without a closer tie to the Marvel universe I just began to lose interested even in things I liked. It was really weird for me.
There’s been some pretty heavy rumors that Echo coming out this year, will confirm the Netflix stuff is fully cannon to the MCU, or at least the daredevil stuff. Has also been confirmed, Disney is now allowing R rated projects in the mcu. Have fairly high hopes for born again. As well as echo
To be fair the only reason Netflix Daredevil is so dark is it was made in a bubble . The scope of the MCU and the elements such as powers, magic , and global events make it necessary to adapt Daredevil into this new world. Kevin Feige has also said that Daredevil and Spider-Man will be the leaders of the street crime fighting level of the MCU
In the comics Luke Cage and Ironfist were partners. This sort of was an experiment in the comics where they took two b level characters and paired them in a mini series. This was some what successful but it really didn’t take off. So this is why lronfist was included in this adaptation of the Defenders. If you have Luke Cage then you have to have Ironfist.
There was a division in the Disney company. Marvel was split into two entities. The movie part and the television part. What the movies studio didn’t officially use was okayed for the television studio to use. The problem the television side had was they couldn’t air the shows on ABC because of the violence and some nudity. So they made deals with Netflix to air the shows. This was before Disney +. Once Disney started it’s streaming service they ended all the third party contacts and moved everything to their service.
THANK GOD Marvel confirmed all the shows are MCU canon. Throw all confusion out the window. Now we just got to get them to confirm Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is canon
funny you mentioned the TMNT here. they are kind of based on daredevil. DD has the hand, tmnt has the foot. When matt has the chemicals hit his eyes, there were some turtles and a rat nearby that took a bath in that same chemical
4:26 it's a reboot with some of the same actors playing the same roles, Daredevil and Kingpin for example, since the netflix shows weren't and still aren't canon to the MCU
FYI - the actor who played "Iron Fist" (Finn Jones) apparently did not / barly trained for his martial art scenes because of this the fight scenes are disappointing and resulted in so many overhead camera shots to put his double in on top of that "the legendary iron fist Danny Rand" has alot of "performance issues " when it comes to his ONE THING the glowing fist the actress "Jessica Henwick" who played 'Colleen Wing' did the opposite - she trained HARD and it showed in every scene - thats the reason Season 2 highlighted her so much and it was planned to make her the iron first for season 3
Agghhhhhhhhhhhhh…if you watched season 1 of Iron Fist, it makes Alexandra telling Gao to feed the birds even more impactful. It shows the strength she has.
Easy remember Danny Rand (Iron Fist) points. He's a master martial artist, of numerous styles. He obtained the power of The Iron Fist. He's rich. And sometimes painfully naive 😁😎
When you referenced the TMNT, I was just saying to myself, "what took you so long?" I mean Marvel has "The Hand" and TMNT has "The Foot." That was an easy one Holden. lol. What will DC have "The Spleen" ??
To explain Danny Rand. He was with his billionaire parents when their plane went down in the Himalayan mountains. He was rescued by the monks at around age 10 and trained and lived with them in the mountains until he was about 25 and returned to New York. Most don't like the Netflix's rand, but I was never a Iron Fist fan and enjoyed both seasons, but not as good as Daredevil or Jessica Jones.
Holden it's not a variant of Matt Mordork from the Netflix shows who is coming to the mcu. He pretty much have the same backstory and journey he had but some other plot points might not carry on( like the electra/bullseye). We still don't know specifically so we will have to wait till Born Again.

So my conclusion was it was the martial art director who sucks and so imagine a show about superhero with martial art skills and the whole season i keep thinking how fake the fights are
Fyi. I still watch the second season and itbwas better than the first. I iwsh they can continue all The Defenders
Usually when lots of people "hate" something it means the movie/show is actually great :D
Cause on things that are boring people would not waste their time.
So, it really does not matter what kind of emotion the movie/show causes as long as it not indiffirence.
Barely 5 minutes in and Jen's already not having it 😂
yes! finally, the Defenders! i really look forward to your reaction videos. love them. btw i was wondering if you guys will also do ted lasso?
If you’re worried abt Disney not being able to have a series be serious, deep, and bad ass, then you haven’t seen Secret Invasion yet (yes I’m aware this was recorded well before SI premiered 😂)
Can't wait for you guys to get to Daredevil season 3.
Don't worry, Jen! Most of the fans are with you on this. There's no reason for it to have gotten this complicated, especially when the Netflix shows worked perfectly well in the MCU continuity 😅
Can't wait till Daredevil S3 and Punisher S1 & 2!
I loved Luke Cage and I didnt mind Ironfist but I can't say it was good, I enjoyed the Luke Cage crossover bits a lot and it certainly seemed it was setting up for something better at the end of season 2. Shame it all ended really.
So sad that you didn't watch Luke Cage and Iron Fist Season 1.
Powerman and The Ironfist !!!! The Goat Danny Rand!!!! Nice!!! Loved season 2 of Iron Fist!!
I have been waiting you guys to watch this
I have been waiting for this...
Holden-I'm glad to see You & Jen watching this Series! Other Jen-except for Claire and Luke becoming a couple, You didn't need to watch Luke Cage or Iron fist!
Well, I understand you skipping Iron Fist, but just for the record, Holden: We are two who enjoyed Iron Fist 😁
Finally and the Daredevil season 3 ❤
I think the way they'll approach the soft reboot for Daredevil is similar to The Incredible Hulk. In TIH, they made a couple vague references to the previous Hulk movie with Eric Bana in 2003, but nothing specific to directly tie them together. They'll probably do something similar with DD:BA, as the Netflix series tied into the MCU, so the new series can reference it vaguely while still letting it sort of remain as is. Sort of a "just ignore that" period of history.
"is there a reason this is all so complicated?" .... MONEY... always money..
Omg I love Jenn' frustration at the beginning of the video hahahaha. I feel your frustration.
Hey.... I actually REALLY enjoyed Iron Fist! I got your back, homie!
“I don’t know where u got adopted from” 😂
When it comes to Iron Fist and Luke Cage in their shows they really teased Heroes for Hire and Daughters of the Dragon with Misty and Colleen like in the comics.
I have watched the entire Defenders Saga, and none of them are so bad as to be unenjoyable.
I LOVED IRON FIST SEASON 1 IM WITH YOU HOLDEN 😂❤
Doubt you guys would watch the other shows like Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD but if you ever get a chance to watch them off camera then you definitely should. Agents of shield is probably my favourite out of all the marvel shows, Daredevil is an incredibly close second.
0:36 Then I am the second person who enjoyed it!
And I am the third!
I dont mind this series cause i sat through all the previous ones
Looking forward to this 😊
"That's his only power?" So true...
Woo 1 step closer to Daredevil Season 3!!!!
I love Jens reaction to the daredevil mcu mess
In the comics Luke Cage and Ironfist were partners. This sort of was an experiment in the comics where they took two b level characters and paired them in a mini series. This was some what successful but it really didn’t take off. So this is why lronfist was included in this adaptation of the Defenders. If you have Luke Cage then you have to have Ironfist.
Claire went back to Harlem as was in season 1 episode 6 and more- she was also in season 1 of iron fist
Anything with Colleen in it will get a watch from me! And also, in Defenders and in Luke Cage season 2 I really really liked Misty.
THANK GOD Marvel confirmed all the shows are MCU canon. Throw all confusion out the window. Now we just got to get them to confirm Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is canon
"Is there a reason they make it so complicated?" Yes, money.
funny you mentioned the TMNT here. they are kind of based on daredevil. DD has the hand, tmnt has the foot. When matt has the chemicals hit his eyes, there were some turtles and a rat nearby that took a bath in that same chemical
Have you noticed the color scheme? Everytime Matt is in a scene there is a red background, Luke, Yellow, Jessica, blue, Iron fist, green?
And Sygourney is all white apparently. Just noticed in this. Guessing the absence of all color.
4:26 it's a reboot with some of the same actors playing the same roles, Daredevil and Kingpin for example, since the netflix shows weren't and still aren't canon to the MCU
FYI - the actor who played "Iron Fist" (Finn Jones) apparently did not / barly trained for his martial art scenes
because of this the fight scenes are disappointing and resulted in so many overhead camera shots to put his double in
on top of that "the legendary iron fist Danny Rand" has alot of "performance issues " when it comes to his ONE THING the glowing fist
the actress "Jessica Henwick" who played 'Colleen Wing' did the opposite - she trained HARD
and it showed in every scene - thats the reason Season 2 highlighted her so much and it was planned to make her the iron first for season 3
3:11 this moment is so funny haha
You guys should have watched Luke Cage season 1, very underrated IMO.
That’s not true, Holden. I also enjoyed the first season of ‘Iron Fist’. Funnily enough, I never watched the second. 🤔
