Sell me some? I'd pay packaging and postage. Always on look out for 'stuff' and ideas for them. Makes sense to me to approach people who are successful with happy, healthy animals and who have been doing it a long time. We can do Paypal?
The RM I got from Helen at a show. You can buy from them direct with post for about £22 I think. It was £15 to get in person. HBB is cheapest in a sack from purely pet supplies.
Aurora Rattery thank you and I will be doing that I’m ordering some daily essentials when I order my food. I don’t get them for 4 weeks so I have plenty of time to prepare I just wanted to make sure. Do I need calcivet and daily essentials or can I just put daily essentials in the water? Thank you!
Would you be able to write this down with the brands/names and weights in a list form please? Keep watching it and then struggling to find the bits I need when I leave the video (I’m dyspraxic) I apologise for being a pain! I bought a mix from rat rations but with 16 rats it literally lasted me one and a half weeks and I paid £21.. cant afford to keep doing that so if I can make a big batch up myself like this that would be fantastic, I also found your haul videos really helpful as with my dyspraxia I struggle to imagine how big things are even if I have the dimensions so seeing the products in real life was really helpful to me! 5 scoops - Harrisons banana brunch - a sack is cheapest on purely pet supplies 5 scoops red mills conditioning mix - buy from local horse shop or rat rations · 5 scoops processed grains - Changes every time I make a mix depending what is in stock and where I shop. I like to try and use cornflakes, mini shreds, plain popcorn, puffed rice. To a lesser degree branflakes and rice crispies as they are higher in sugar. I also add a small amount of the value muesli mix (Tesco or Morrisons) but it is at 5% sugar so don’t use a lot. I just pick any pasta shapes/types I find at the time. If I have buckwheat it goes in this section. · 1 scoops herb and veg - I buy herbs and the dried veg mix from wholefoodsonline. I also get dried veg from rat rations if I’m placing an order. I have my complete herb mix in a video on Aurora Rattery RUclips. · 1 scoop seed mix - rat rations seed mix and versele laga pigeon mix from RR · 1 scoop barley rings - can buy on rat rations or I buy a 15kg sack from horse shops. · 1 scoop fish4dogs small bite kibble - I change up the flavours but they all have good protein elements on this website. · 1 scoop science selective rat nuggets - cheapest on purely pet supplies or can get in pets at home Pick your own "scoop" A scoop can be a jug, a cup, a bowl - anything. A full scoop = 1 scoop
just a thought but you say you hate the mixing and i can see why but how about if you gave it a mix by hand breifly and then tip the whole lot into another 80 litre tub which would really give it a good mix
This would involve having another empty tub and I struggle to move this one when full as it is. I hear rat rations use a cement mixer for theirs and honestly if I could really justify it, I’d buy one for rat mix 😂
@@aurora_rattery yes i can imagine it would be quite heavy actually and omg i never knew that about rat rations either and I have got to do a telephone order with them soon so i,ll ask them if its true and i i love your videos
Hey I got some questions about this video. I bought the same things like you for making this mix and I was wondering about some things. How do you keep those big bags safe? I'm a little scared of moths and weevils. For example, how long will you last with a 20 kilograms bag like that? And that box you fill with your mix, after how many days, weeks it's eaten? Thank you in advance
Kelly Ddl how long it lasts depend how many mouths I’m feeding. I went through 15kg in just over a week when I had four litters. My bags are stored out in my shed which has a varying temp. I’ve not had any problems with storage
@@kellyddl I imagine a pantry or cabinet in the home would work just fine if you have the space. Depending on location you could have squirrels and what not manage their way into a shed but that only depends on what species you have and what not. All that matters woth this mix is dry storage. Another thing you can do is portion it into air tight mason jars with those clamps, if kept on a low level from the floor or on the floor it should be perfect!
I think the wheat content is way too high since they have changed their recipe and could cause kidney problems and also since its a nugget it would get quite boring anyway
I pick out cereal that is 5g of sugar (and under) per 100g. So you want to find the cheapest of the store brands to use for this. I get most of my cereal now from Lidl. Very low sugar and very cheap price
Thanks for watching. I saw you commented on my other video but for some reason I can’t find it to actually answer it on the video? Which purple tube were you talking about ?
That’s unfortunate you think that. As one of hundreds of UK rat owners following the parts of this diet , I can assure you it’s a balanced diet. The diet is based on years of study and in depth nutritional studies done by a woman called Alison Campbell who created the rat diet book the scuttling gourmet. I highly suggest it for reading as all the UK diets stem from this book.
Neugear Hatiwelt I’d be interested to know what research you’ve done on rat diet and why you don’t agree with a balanced mix made from good quality ingredients?
@@CatAtonic7 Perhaps it is the look of the dog biscuits and cereal that threw me off? Im sorry for sounding rude, i do struggle with understanding spoken language so perhaps i simply misunderstood the video. It looked rather weird to throw together dog food and similar, and i would still advice to perhaps use a more natural ingredient for protein like dried insects, perhaps, but again i am sorry for sounding rude.

Is it possible to just use the conditioning mix for the base, or do you need both? I’m having trouble finding a good base mix in the United States 😔
People reported the rats getting fat using just the red mills as a base so that is something to consider before doing it
I thought what I did for my rats was crazy but I think you may have me beat lol.
Where do you buy the red mills and banana mix from??

would harringtons salmon and potatoe cat kibble be ok to use
I've only ever seen people use a dog kibble so I'm not sure a cat one has the right needs
@@aurora_rattery oh right ok. i know the john burns chicken and rice one that ratrations sell is a cat kibble so just wondered about harringtons
Are there any base mixes beside Harrison’s banana brunch or the red mills thar you know of in the United States or can I just use oxbow rat blocks
I cannot help with USA stock. People used to follow the Suebee mix years ago in the US
@@aurora_rattery can I use rat blocks then?
Hey would the isa-mix 8 with egg biscuit on rat rations be good as a main diet?
Yes that is fine. I would also supplement once a week using calcivet liquid and dr squiggles daily essentials (rat rations sell these too)

Why do you say SS not recommended as a sole food? Rat boredom or other reason?
I think the wheat content is way too high since they have changed their recipe and could cause kidney problems and also since its a nugget it would get quite boring anyway
I´ve read that corn flakes aren´t suitable, because they contain high amounts of salt and aren´t good even for people.
