Do I want to hear "I Heard it Through the Grapevine"? Definitely a YES.... For me it was the first CCR song I remember absolutely loving... I was quite young. ( Long version )
One of the best groups of the early seventies. CCR loved to jam. Too many song to name for you to react to. That Heard it Through the Grapevine is an amazing tract.
When it started playing by accident during his reaction video, I had a brief flashback to the movie The Big Chill....and yeah. I know that's the Marvin Gaye version, but My brain made that association, anyways. Think I'll go watch the movie opening right now.
My favorite CCR song by far, and that’s saying something because I LOVE CCR! Yeah the middle section is soo good too. I’ll never turn this song off if I pull into the driveway, parking lot, whatever, everything else can wait! lol
Excellent song from an excellent album (Cosmos Factory), first album I ever owned. Excellent reaction Daniel, if you want some more from CCR with the same hillbilly spirit, check out Keep On Chooglin’ or Born On The Bayou. Peace and love from Toronto!
Cosmo's Factory was one of my favorite albums as a kid. I listened to it over and over. Every song is great, and I love the extended cover of I Heard it Through the Grapevine.
CCR was EPIC! My fav band of all time! Lead singer, lead guitarist, wrote their songs-John Fogerty. He has a distinctive voice. A musical genius! He still tours today!
Wow. I have asked so many reactors to do this song and this is the first time seeing anyone do it! Congrats! What a way to open up a can of CCR whupass! So much more to explore. Fortunate Son, Born on the Bayou, Run Through the Jungle, I Put A Spell on You, Have You Ever Seen the Rain? Hey Tonight! Down on the Corner, and on and on. You asked, “where we going?” ... haha... hang on for the ride!
EDIT: I SAW 10 MIN GRAPEVINE START YOU CANT STOP NOW!! "Depending on if you guys want it" he says, if anyone here is a CCR fan, THEY DO Not sure which if any CCR you've done before but here's a list of some staples (not all): Who'll stop the rain Have you ever seen the rain Proud Mary Bad moon rising Down on the corner Run through the jungle Fortunate son Born on the bayou Heard it through the grapevine Lookin out my backdoor Up around the bend
John Fogarty has one of the most unique voices in music. I Put A Spell On You is one of my favorites, but you can't go wrong with anything from the CCR catalog.
A GREAT COMMENTARY ON MODERN LIFE AND HOW MUCH IS IGNORED BY SOCIETY AND POLITICIANS...GREAT CHANNEL YOU HAVE YOUNG MAN..SO COOL TO SEE YOU INTO THIS STUFF..KENT IN OHIO
CCR's epic blues tune "Graveyard Train", a story about an unfortunate encounter between a Greyhound bus and a night time RR crossing, is right up your alley. p.s. & maybe apropos for October
So many great songs - Born On the Bayou, Green River, Up Around the Bend, Fortunate Son, I Put A Spell On You (a cover), Run Thru the Jungle, Midnight Special (a cover), Bad Moon Rising . . .. I could go on and on. They literally don't have a bad song. John Fogerty is the genius behind it all- lead singer, lead guitar, wrote their songs. He still tours today.
They do a cover of "heard it through the grapevine" John fogerty goes a bit nuts with the lead I think there's a long version ✌️♥️ do we want it ? Just look at the comments 👍😃
1st. Love me some CCR ! This song was on my "driving" cassette tape when tearing around in my Camaro! Made me want to go fast ! Thanks for leaving us some reactions while you are on set ! ✌❤🌻😷🎶
It’s pretty hard to find a bad CCR song, but this album, Cosmo’s Factory, is one of those perfect albums, like Boston’s debut, (and The Who- Who’s Next, and Descendents- Milo Goes To College), that’s amazing beginning to end! Some tracks might be a tad weaker than others, but none are, by any means, weak.
Hey, this was an unlikely one but always one of my fave CCR songs. Glad you gave it a listen. Other CCR recommendations are Green River and Fortunate Son. Thus one was one of their very few where they dipped their toe in 60s psychedelia. And as I've said on a few of your clips, don't sweat the lyrics unless you get into Dylan, Cohen, Simon or Floyd.
EXCELLENT!!! this was one of those bands...my brother had at least 4 of their albums and i would play them all the time...10 years old and DIGGIN this shit !! this is a great choice....CCR had a ton of hits, but i love when you check out the not so obvious choices. that said....i'd HIGHLY recommend Borm to Move, Hideaway, It's Just A Thought, Midnight special......just to name a few
@@RideAcrossTheRiver Well the Beatles were kind of insular during that White Album to Let IT Be period but occasionally they did come out of the shell and comment on other Artists . John Lennon was quoted as saying “ I like Creedence Clearwater Revival . That is some real rocknroll . “
Very few bands had a better run than CCR, one of the most successful bands of all time, maybe the most successful American band, and that’s not a stretch - endless amount of songs. You mailed John Fogerty’s vocals, very powerful and a great songwriter. “Born On The Bayou”, “Have You Ever Seen The Rain”, like another poster said, way too many songs to mention.
I vote Yes for Heard It Through The Grapevine. It's a long song and I know you like those. It is a Motown standard which was recorded by Gladys Knight and The Pips, The Miracles and Marvin Gaye before CCR did it, but I think their version is the best.
One the greatest bands from late 1968 to 1972. So many hit singles and excellent albums. Lead singer John Fogerty has such a unique great voice. He also wrote everything, played great guitar and produced and arranged. Genius. Check out Born on The Bayou and Run Thru The Jungle. Also great songs! Creedence had 7 #1 singles here in Canada and 4 #1 albums.🇨🇦🎼🎶🎵
I just listened to a female singer, and thought maybe you could add her to the channel some day. Our generation loves her, but on reaction channels she has been lost among memories of the great bands and the men. (A few listens, so not 100% list) The song to start with is Diamonds and Rust. It's evocative poetry. Acoustic guitar. Her style of playing is described as "elegant". She wrote it in '74, and we all know who she wrote it about. Her voice is quite special. There is a lyric video with photos of her and her song's subject, to take everyone back in time.
Can't wait to hear your reaction. This song is my personal favorite and can't believe you found! CCR has a bunch of memorable tunes. Papa was a Rolling Stone is another killer tune. Most famous tune probably is Have you ever seen the rain. Cheers, Chicago Ray
"Heard It Thruugh the Grapevine," Oh yeah, we want it. Strongly recommend listening to the original version by Marvin Gaye and then the Creedence version.
Thanks for the ‘like’! That reminds me, if you haven’t done it already (I don’t think you have) CCR ‘Keep On Chooglin’ live in Oakland Ca. Jan. 1970 is AWESOME!! Talk about a jam session!
Absolutely one of their standout best deep cuts. A quick piece of trivia. Up to this album they had never made a weak album. Coming out of the1960's San Francisco area and not really swinging with the Psychedelic days commonplace. They approached the 1970's with a masterwork! Of AMERICANA!!
I recently went through the entire CCR studio catalogue and confirmed that they really didn’t have one s**t song. Even their worst is better than most.
CCR had some truly great songs. As others have noted, you must do I Heard It Through The Grapevine. Then maybe Keep On Chooglin' and my favorite It Came Out Of The Sky. It's amazing they never charted higher than #2.
Good one, here are some other classics by CCR,Fortunate Son,Have You Ever Seen The Rain,Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising,Long As I Can See The Light. All classics and more all done in less than 3 years. Amazing and then the brothers fought and John went on his own to do well.
Great group CCR they have a 💩 load of songs just a few off the top 1-run through the jungle 2-looking out my back door 3-Born on the Bayou 4-you put a spell on me 5-have you ever seen the rain. And they just keep going song after song have fun 😎👍🏼✌🏼️🤘🏼
Hi from Australia. Just discovered your channel and I've ben enjoying your reactions. I like your intelligent approach, honesty and emotional intelligence. I also ennoy the lack of histrionics 😊. I'd love to see you react to Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds playing "As I sat sadly by her side" Nick Cave is an iconic Australian artist, known for his deep dark voice, songwrriting abilities and kind of gothic foreboding aura. Despite the name the song isn't a 3 kleenex weepy, just a little ...bleak. Lyrically very interesting.
Short lived but great band. Most of their hits are short but bangers,. Interesting fact - they never had a number one hit but had five songs hit number two.
In arguments about the greatest American band, CCR is always mentioned. If there are two versions of this song with different lengths, it's probably because the album version was edited down for radio airplay.
Good call on the longer (album) version. This is a lesser-known CCR song and I think you are the first to react to it! Kind of quasi-prog; long a favorite of mine.
CCR rocks! Always go with the longer version...just saying. I have to agree with their cover of I Heard It Through the Grapevine- you could compare their version with Marvin Gaye's. Lots of great stuff for you to explore- have fun! Nice reaction, as usual, Daniel!
I'm partial to seeing Marvin Gaye with his band, live. Bongos, ad lib singing...the works. There is the show at Montreux, Marvin in the red jacket, but idk how everyone feels about studio vs live. He has such a goooood band.
Yes, to Heard It Through The Grape Vine! And if you want to use it for a version comparison between artists, there are quite a few, from which, to choose (Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Marvin Gaye, Isley Brothers, Temptations, Gladys Night and the Pips, and of course, Creedence). Most (except Creedence) are quite short - so I'd suggest that you do three: 1) Gladys Night and the Pips (first one released as a single), 2) Marvin Gaye (iconic), and finally 3) Creedence. Make sure you do one of the longer Creedence versions - not the abbreviated radio cut.
CCR is an absolute goldmine. throughout the late 60's and early 70's they dropped PERFECT singles, one right after the other. You'll find so many good songs in their catalog, you won't believe it. The only modern band I can compare them to, in terms of consistent quality, is Nightwish. Dig as deep as you like, you won't find any mediocrity. And yes, we DO want you to do "Grapevine". You do too, you just don't know it yet.
If you haven't already, a good song to analyze is Hotel California by The Eagles, it's quite possibly the band's mostly popular song and title of their #1 album..., and quite cryptic.
CCR are my favourite US band by a mile... Until 'American Werewolf In London' I was unaware of them so 'Bad Moon Rising' was the first I heard and probably has remained my absolute favourite though you could pick any track from certainly the first five albums and react... My pick of one song would be 'It Came Out Of The Sky'... John Fogerty is one talented guy and one of my personal heroes...
Welcome to CCR. Welcome to your journey of Rock etc. If you want the top of the pyramid, listen but preferably react to Pink Floyd, Comfortably numb and it has to be the PULSE version.. You will by the way get many requests for this.
I love CCR. Personally this is one of the last songs I’d suggest to react to. They have a plethora of fantastic songs. Born on a Bayou and I put a Spell on You are standouts.
Very Good. CCR is an awesome band with many great songs. I will suggest a few even if you don't take requests from here. These are suggestions not requests; "Born on the Bayou" "Who'll Stop the Rain" "Commotion" "Sweet Hitch Hiker" and many more.
Interesting first pick. It’s a fairly deep track. I’ve always liked it. Have you ever seen the rain, fortunate son, proud mary, born on the Bayou, heard it through the grapevine this band had so many great songs. Just download the playlist for their first greatest hits album Chronicle and throw a dart at any Song.
Wonder if Proud Mary by CCR should go alongside Tina Turner doing her version? Especially for the novelty of seeing what Tina could do to a song. Live, to wake up even a TV audience. Wake UP and look at Tina. Haven't seen that in a long time. Well it was more novel then, than now. She broke the ground for those to come.
Their first hit Stuck in Lodi Again. Lookin' Out My Back Door. Green River. Willie and the Poorboys. Center Field. Cotton Fields. Midnight Special. Suzie Q. Fortunate Son. So many great songs. They sound so country, swampy, and down home. But they from the East Bay Suberbs of San Francisco and Oakland. After the band broke up and was forced to sell their catalog of songs John Fogarty, the lead singer and guitarist, was sued for sounding too much like himself.
The first album I purchased was CCR's last album. Before then I only purchased 45's (small vinyl records with just one song on each side, for you younger music lovers). I had forgotten about this great song. I believe CCR played closer to sunrise than sunset at Woodstock and they were not too happy about it. As a new subscriber, I would love for you to react to "I Put a Spell On You" as performed by 9 year old Angelina Jordan (CCR does a great cover as well). Angelina now 14 has signed with Republic Records and is the only vocal prodigy of my life and therefore is worth a listen. ruclips.net/video/nwFloCPXzCs/видео.html
Yep, the middle section gives the feeling of Im free from this finally but there is forboding on the horizon. Then when he finally gets somehere (the music goes back to the fast beginning) new he finds himself once again running from the same burdens just in a different form. Alot of John Fogherty's music was about whats around the corner isnt good. The grass isnt always greener. Ramble Tamble is a rather deep cut in the CCR catalogue. Good choice.
One of the great southern rock bands. John Fogarty has such a distinctive voice. Side Styx reaction request... that is if you haven't already got it scheduled for upload while you're away... would be Sing For The Day, also off their Pieces Of Eight release. It has some great acoustic guitar strumming on it, as well as beautiful synth work.
When there is a choice, ALWAYS go with the longer version!!!!
That entire album. Every song. Cant miss.
I was your age in the early 1970s and this was my heavy metal. You will enjoy I heard it through the grapevine.
Probably one of my first dozen albums I owned! Bad Moon Rising, Born on the Bayou, Fortunate Son, Susie Q, Green River, to name a few.
Do I want to hear "I Heard it Through the Grapevine"?
Definitely a YES.... For me it was the first CCR song I remember absolutely loving... I was quite young. ( Long version )
I always luv it when the young folk appreciate the old stuff. Carry on, young man.
Thank God you chose the longer version!
Excellent and intelligent
take.

My favorite was “Up around the bend” 🎶

Not sure which if any CCR you've done before but here's a list of some staples (not all):
Who'll stop the rain
Have you ever seen the rain
Proud Mary
Bad moon rising
Down on the corner
Run through the jungle
Fortunate son
Born on the bayou
Heard it through the grapevine
Lookin out my backdoor
Up around the bend
That Bo Diddly rhythm. Perhaps the most influential man in rock and roll history.
Born on the Bayou, fortunate one are two of my favorites.
John Fogarty has one of the most unique voices in music. I Put A Spell On You is one of my favorites, but you can't go wrong with anything from the CCR catalog.
"I Heard It Through The Grapevine" (long version off the LP) is a must by CCR to react to.
CCR is one of the best bands around IMO.
A GREAT COMMENTARY ON MODERN LIFE AND HOW MUCH IS IGNORED BY SOCIETY AND POLITICIANS...GREAT CHANNEL YOU HAVE YOUNG MAN..SO COOL TO SEE YOU INTO THIS STUFF..KENT IN OHIO
That song goes from a honky tonk bar song, to as close to majestic as rock ever got.
It's a highway song that takes a turn and gets stuck in the inner city!
Lodi/ Who’ll Stop The Rain/Proud Mary
Ps, first listen. Excellent jam. Thanks to your patron for suggestion.
CCR's epic blues tune "Graveyard Train", a story about an unfortunate encounter between a Greyhound bus and a night time RR crossing, is right up your alley. p.s. & maybe apropos for October

Been listening to this song since the 70's lol timeless

Hard to choose any particular CCR song as a favorite, but you sure picked an overlooked deep cut to start with, and you got it pretty quickly.

Looking out my back door, and so many others have fun
I Put A Spell On You needs to be next. But they had 16 top 40 singles so you got a gold mine to choose from. Have fun brother.
"I Put A Spell On You", live version.
Born on the Bayou, long version of Susie Q, long version of Heard it through the grapevine...to start.
It’s pretty hard to find a bad CCR song, but this album, Cosmo’s Factory, is one of those perfect albums, like Boston’s debut, (and The Who- Who’s Next, and Descendents- Milo Goes To College), that’s amazing beginning to end! That album. My first music purchase. At age 13. Best Buy ever. 😎 More CCR pleez.

Smart move going with the original album version. Anything from most any CCR album is worth checking out. Love the guitar dirge section in this tune.
My favourite CCR song has to be Long as I Can See The Light. It's a soulful number that features John Fogerty on every instrument.
Thanks for the ‘like’! That reminds me, if you haven’t done it already (I don’t think you have) CCR ‘Keep On Chooglin’ live in Oakland Ca. Jan. 1970 is AWESOME!! Talk about a jam session!

"The grass isnt always greener." = PARCHED PADDOCKS
Down on the corner, Run through the Jungle, and Fortunate son are other great songs.
I would like to see Your reaction to Credence clearwater revival album, Willy and the poor Boys, Effigy, great guitar riffs.
My song favorite is ramble tamble.
