    That normal looks to me a little on the red side. I know there is variety in normals even. It could be just differences between camera and in person.
    I love the lavender morph so it is definitely interesting to see the difference between lavender and normals and just differences between lavenders. I guess that just goes to show how differences in normals can ultimately affect the outcome of different morphs.
    So any morph could then be affected by the original wild type coloration. Very interesting.

      We will definitely make a video in the future talking about the different line-bred varieties of wild type hoggies and their effects on morphs! I do think the video managed to show the difference in lavenders and normals a bit better than most pictures out there. Even so, they do look a tad more purple in person.
      The base wildtype is what leads to different things like yellow, orange, and extreme red albinos. All are genetically the same but have a different look due to what base they are modifying. It's so much fun when you realize the cool things that line breeding can do!

      @@SnakefulGrace This actually leads me back to a question I had the other day...so if two extreme red het snows were bred would any resulting snows coloration be affected by the extreme red coloration?

    • @SnakefulGrace
      @SnakefulGrace  2 года назад +1

      Yup! I believe it makes a very pink snow. I have a pink snow and a blue snow and although both are snows, the pink is more salmon colored and the blue is more gray.

      @@SnakefulGrace cool thanks! I asked someone else and they said it wouldn't affect the color of the snows but your video made me wonder if it would. If maybe they were incorrect. It's all good though we are all learning still.😊 I had no idea that snows could have a blue coloration. That's very interesting. Sounds kinda like there are warm toned snows and cool toned ones.
      I would say that my little Arctic guy is definitely more cool toned than warm toned. It depends on the light too though. Sometimes he looks kinda grayish and then sometimes more brown but never reddish like I have seen some hognose look.

      @@Upper_echelon_exotics line breeding for specific colors takes years but it can definitely do amazing things. Lemon Ghosts are a line bred trait that was enhanced over 20 years to produce those strong yellows. We have yellow, orange, and red albinos, so there is no reason we can't have multiple lines of snows.
      We can probably make a video showing 2 different snows side by side for comparison too.

    I wonder if the lavender gene in Hoggies is like the lavender gene in Corns? In corn snakes it's a change in the scale not the color. Scale-less lavender corns look just like normal scale-less corns! Really good video about lav corns --> ruclips.net/video/T8oWwd4HQoM/видео.html

      Possibly! With lavender now being mixed with other genes, seeing how they interact will help us know what kind of mutation it is.

    Lavender is what made me actually seriously consider getting a hoggie! Now for budget reasons I have my first guy Curious George from Snakeful Grace, who's a toffee belly albino conda and very pretty. But one day I want that lavender baby.

    This video only makes me more curious what it would look like when you mix Lavender and Sable. Because I clicked it thinking it would talk about how supposedly cameras don't do the color justice, and you saying that Lavender washes the colors out, and remembering hearing that Sable makes pigments more prominent, would the two cancel each other out?

    • @SnakefulGrace

      That is really curious! I haven't gotten to see the combo in person and I do believe the world's first lavender/sable isn't an adult yet, so we will have to see!

      @@SnakefulGrace I did eventually find a list of Hognose morphs and there was a picture of a Lavender/Sable. Apparently they called the morph, according to the website, "Purple People Eater". Which I found amusing so I joked "I bet that when it first hatched it bit the breeder"
