I really appreciate that you enjoy Akane drumming even when she is completely relaxed. As a drummer, I think Akane is one of the best male or female drummers you can find in rock today.
@@williamb4652 Even more, it actually continues to slowly wind down from a solo during Mincho's guitar solo. So tastefully done, so beautifully fitting in, and so completely filling the needs of the song.
THE best live Rock band on Earth. Akane (and MISA on bass) both attended the Tokyo Academy of Music for 3 years...where they learned to play piano! Akane also used to play trombone in school. Then she turned to the drums and, by 2016, she had Jimmy Page going backstage to get a selfie with her. Did I mention that they are THE best live Rock band on Earth?
@@t-shinji Thanks for the correct info. I knew Akane had played trombone, piano, cajon and drums before going to study music in Tokyo but I didn't realise MISA had played piano too before going to Tokyo. Kanami plays excellent piano too and learned as a child and I've got a film of Saiki playing acoustic guitar. Miku has the best guitar tutor and her playing keeps getting better and more complicated with every new song. Basically, they are all super talented musicians.
I would say one of the two most happiest drummer in the world today. The other one is Rina from Scandal. Both are fun to watch and both have a great smile!
I was watching the Foo Fighters live at the Reading Festival yesterday, and Taylor Hawkins takes an extended drum solo. And it's great, he's a terrific drummer, BUT...everything comes to a stop for it. The great thing about this solo is that it's seamlessly integrated into the song and keeps the momentum going.
When the girls gather around Akane, the are trying to get her mess up, even if only missing a beat or so. If you look closely you can see Akane "snickering" at their antics, yet she doesn't miss a beat. The girls are all good friends and enjoy messing with each other on stage. Great reaction. I always enjoy hearing about the technical aspect of the various group members.
Akash, thank you so very much for that - very lovely message! Hope to bring you and the other drum nerds more great drummers and bands from Japan and the rest of the world. Be well.
Akane has always played a relatively small kit and has talked about it in interviews. She says it allows her to stay closer to her bandmates. You don't need a huge kit to make a huge noise. She is a master of doing the unexpected. She is known by fans as "the happiest drummer in the world" :) . Notice her solo ALWAYS stays on beat ... and NOTHING repeats.
I love just how happy Akane looks behind the kit, especially during the drum solo part. It's hard not to see it and feel happier and in a better mood than before too
To experience two other sides of Akane’s drumming skills, check out Wonderland (live, from the same concert) to hear jazzy, laid back drumming that perfectly accompanies the rest of the instruments, and Black Hole (live stream), where her furious double-pedal propels the song at 220 BMP.
Never seen a band that has 3 truly great musicians (drums/bass/guitar). Add a great singer & a pretty good guitarist who also sings & writes great lyrics. Pretty amazing! I'd suggest the following Band Maid songs: Dice, Domination (live), Manners, Thrill, Warning (live) & No God
BAND-MAID is a hard rock band, but it's a very diverse band. Listen to different types of songs. All are music videos on their official RUclips. It's part of their eight-year history. Fun facts: Akane's first instrument was trombone...which she still plays. Akane's drum hero is Nao Kawakita of Maximum the Hormone. Akane loves to eat bananas on-stage...and is often referred to as being "half-gorilla."
🦍🔥🦍🔥🦍🔥 I'm no drummer but I play one on TV and I'm pretty sure this is one of the simpler BAND-MAID songs as far as drums go. I could be wrong but I could be right. Anyways, these ladies kick butt and I hope you do more reactions to 🦍🥁💜Akane.
Thanks Patron, I'd be keen to see this drummer you play as on TV :) As for the drumming, it's not the worlds most difficult song (still rather tricky) but it has to be said - the effortless way in which she executes the parts are nothing shy of immense skill. Also, the solo is absolutely something quite challenging. I'll be sure to do more on this band and Akane specifically. Be well and Happy Saturday.
@@DRUMNERD lol, I'd be keen to see that TV drummer too! What made her solo special is that she keep time, What makes Akane so special (besides how happy she always is) is her fills, patron40silver has a point there are many other songs, that sometimes only a real drummer notices, that Akane does some really amazing stuff, Band Maid's "Rinne", "Blackhole" comes to mind, but there are far too many Band Maid songs to mention, you just have to take a deep dive into Band Maid to appreciate where Akane's talent level is...
Akane is that type of drummer who does not imagine herself outside of the band. She's great friends with MISA the bassist, and they play so well together that they seem to have one mind for two of them. Even more so: it's not only MISA whom Akane accompanies, she always accentuates all the other four members, including vocals. She never played solos until recently. Only when the Western fans demanded that the individual members showcase their talents, have they started doing solos during their live performances. They said that initially, it was Saiki who demanded it. She was like, "You two, do something here." And then MISA and Kanami would throw a bass-guitar duel in the midst of a song, like in "Don't you tell ME." Later, when they have seen that the fans just go nuts about such solo sections, they started to introduce more and more of such stuff. The first (and the only one so far) Akane's solo was introduced into FREEDOM during their European tour in 2019. It was shorter than this version from Line Cube Shibuya, but it was already beautiful. In Bochum, on June 24th, 2019, we managed to talk Akane into having an extra solo before DICE. It was mind-blowing. I hope when the COVID thing is over, and they restart their live OKYUJIs, they'll play more things like that! 🤘
The maid uniforms are what make them stand out from everyone else and the music is what keeps you coming back. That and of course thanks to word of mouth about how amazing they are as musicians.
Akane, shines through most Band Maid songs and it is unusual for her to get a solo, that is why this track was heavily requested. The joy on Akane's face is rarely matched by western drum players. To add to this, think of Tamu, from Nemophila and Haruna, from Lovebites both with smiles while they play 😁 Thank you for your reaction and comments. Akane, almost left you speechless!

Akane is more pocket than a good pair of cargo shorts. She reminds me of Gene Kruppa with her beaming smile while playing a fill. thanks for another fun one!
Drumgasms? Well, that's a new one to me. And yet it's so fitting. :) Akane Hirose is, in my opinion, one of the most talented and versatile drummers I have heard to date. And to see her smile so charmingly during all this is the cherry on top of the cake, which apparently a certain Jimmy Page also thinks. He visited, I think in 2016, a concert of the ladies and was so impressed by her that he wanted to meet her personally after the gig. Akane probably thought at first that they wanted to play a joke on her. Well, if you search for pictures with the two names, there is a nice proof of this 'joke'. Another story I've heard about her is that lead guitarist and main songwriter Kanami asked her a few years ago what was the fastest she could play. Her answer was 170-180 bpm. The next demo she got from Kanami was supposedly around 190-195 bpm. :) ... Which song it was exactly is unknown (to me), but I could imagine that it was 'Rinne' or 'Blooming'. But this is just a guess on my part. Maybe others have more information about it. Anyway, thank you for this video and greetings from the German Maidiac division. :) _____________________ 【 _Our rock never dies ever. Forever!_ 】- from BAND-MAID 'Manners' 🕊️
During the first Covid lockdown, Akane got some time to practice of her own. She focused on the basic and how to hit the drums and the cymbals correctly. All this to improve the sound. It obviously worked, since the sound engineer immediately noticed a differance when they set up the drum sound for Unseen World. Personally, I believe she must have practiced more than that, since her playing is on a totally different level on everything they have done since.
Fun reaction! First time I ever heard a Band-Maid reactor mention The Blasters. Right on! I grew up here in LA, and I saw the Blasters perform here at three shows back in 1980-81. I've heard Akane compared to the legends Buddy Rich, David Grohl (which I think you also alluded to with your early 1990's grunge reference), Taylor Hawkins, John Henry Bonham, Neil Peart, and Mike Portnoy, and now we add to that list the great Bill Bateman! Side note: I've many times compared Band-Maid's early work to another LA Band from that era, The Go-Go's, and The Blasters and The GoGo's often played shows together. Band-Maid definitely influenced there. One reason I love Band-Maid is that it's a throwback to the music with which I grew up.
Superb drummer. One of the few that smiles and seems to enjoy it. Their Line Cube Shibuya show (on the internet somewhere) kicks off with Rinne and the Blooming, an absolute masterclass of drumming. The last album Unseen World - she goes up another level.
Hey mate, thank you very much for the comments and kind words! Really does mean a lot to me. Hopefully you find many more videos on here that you like with amazing bands and drummer and maybe even investigate some of my lesson videos (need to make more of them) Again, thank you very much for the support and kindness. Happy Monday, be well.
I think we're turning Maidiac, 🎵 I think we're turning Maidiac, 🎶 I really think so. 🎼 Freedom shows the pure perfection of Band-Maid. I mean, what can you fault? And those faces... their attitude... their music... their playing... their story... and their joy! Band-Maid is a world treasure! Thanks Colin, for bringing the world's best hard rock band to your viewers!
Thanks Tom, great song reference there (word change) it had me laughing :) You're most welcome for this, I'm so grateful for you and the others who have turned me onto this incredible band! Have a few more of theirs in the near future as well. They really are just amazing musicians and seem like really friendly people - as you say best; a world treasure. Be well.
Thanks for the kind words. She is a proper powerhouse behind the kit eh, and so effortless. It really adds something special to the music. Happy Saturday :)
I enjoyed your reaction for much the same reason Freedom is such an infectious song - you were genuinely happy to hear what they were genuinely happy to play. Glad to see you enjoying Band-Maid. They have a very rich catalog of different styles and Akane is truly masterful through all of them.
Michael, thank you so very much for the kind words and support. They really are just an infectious band to watch - masters at their craft. I can’t wait to listen to more and get further down their musical rabbit hole. Be well and thanks again.
Keith, thank you for that. I feel honoured, though I'm not on facebook - it's amazing to hear I've had such a reach. :) Hope you're well. Happy Tuesday.
Damn, I'm so fricking happy your reaction to Trident popped up on my feed. I can't believe i haven't seen you react to one of my favorite bands. I'm really enjoying your reactions. I hope I come across some babymetal reactions from you.
I noticed that in the difference between Aldious's new drummer and their old one. The play seems relatively the same. But Marina Bozzio makes it look easy. The previous drummer looked stressed.
She's taking dancing lessons with Saiki . She has said that it is giving her a different perspective and understanding on timing and is making her even better . As if she needs to be better , but that is what makes Akane Miku Kanami Misa And Saiki some of the best muses because they are always striving forward to become better never satisfied with where they are with their talent . great react . Long Live the PO!
Oh man... go back and do it again on camera. That's what we are here for. :) Don't worry about chopping up the song, we've all seen it 1000 times already. The joy on your face during the solo is all the confirmation we need. You're one of us now. For your next song, as a drummer, you should check out Warning (Official Music Video) for the amazing drums, or Domination (live from same concert as Freedom) for some more soloing goodness. And as a musician, you should check out Onset(live), an instrumental that will blow your mind.
I think this video has English subtitles? Anyway they are amazing...That transition from the drumsolo to the guitarsolo is worldsclass! And I love when the other bandmembers do funny faces to the drummer...
Thanks Colin! Great reaction! Love this band and love this drummer. Admittedly, I'm addicted (NO intervention needed, TYVM), so my opinion is RADICALLY biased, but to me Akane Hirose is one of the best, most innovated drummers I've heard (The whole band is just awesome). I checked the previous comments and I'll throw in a couple of other tracks not mentioned (yet) where Akane makes my jaw hit the floor: "Secret My Lips", "Sense", "Warning" and the often overlooked "Alone". However, pretty much anything you pick for your next reaction will provide some VERY tasty chops. Thanks again and just like Ms. Hirose, keep smilin'. 😄 🕊
Thank you for reacting to bandmaid again In their “Sense “ music video you can enjoy AKANE’s drumming techniques and incredible hard hitting greeting from Japan
There's nothing wrong with going back and replaying the solo -- or the fills if you want to point something out. You're supposed to be adding value by bringing your own musician's experience to the reaction -- and that means focusing on the most outstanding or notable moments, and telling us what they mean to you.ALSO - if you haven't watched (say) Blooming - that has lots of Akane the drummer killing the drums - with a drum flourish at the end.
Thank you for this, Bland. I have heard many people say the very same thing and so in the future will do that absolutely :) I do appreciate your support and kindness. Be well.
If you want to see the drumming ability (or lack of) of all the members, watch this, from a show in London in 2018. ruclips.net/video/x6iSf73LiQ0/видео.html The first 5 minutes or so are an MC part of the show where Miku, the rhythm guitarist does a bit of call & response with the crowd, as well as talking about sightseeing in Trafalgar Square (in a Japanese/english mix), but after that in descends into chaos (and drumming), as the MC part usually does in their shows.
Thanks for the reaction! I agree with others, this specific song has become one of their "fun" live songs. Check out the Manners / Blackhole Live video, two very contrasting songs, but both very cool. Another song that I have enjoyed Akane's drumming is on is Wonderland.
Akane is a force of nature behind the drum kit. Miku, rhythm guitar/vocals is the founder of band and started out as the lead singer. She realized she didn't have the power voice for the sound she envisioned, so she recruited the naturally gifted Saiki to be lead vocalist. "Freedom" is an early song that they've played well for years, but this performance is next level, especially with Akane's kickass drum solo. Great review. Band Maid is the best Rock band going. You have plenty of future Band Maid reviews because there are no bad songs from these ladies.
Hi Nerd, hope you are OK. Have you done the live version of Domination? There’s a (brief) side on clip of Akane about 30 secs in. Perfect straight up posture, beautiful soft wrists, excellent technique. It’s sums her up, I think.
Nice reaction, Band-maid is one of my favorite bands and Misa is my favorite bassist. Akane is fantastic but my very favorite drummer by far right now is Vlad who plays with the band jinjer. Much like band-maid, all of their songs are good but but for a variety of drumming I recommend their song "Teacher Teacher" you will enjoy it, Vlad is a master.
One thing they sometimes do during the show is make funny faces at each other, mostly at the drummer, to try and get her to mess up, which of course she never does, she just makes goofy faces back. They have so much fun.
Awesome reaction and if you feel the want or need to go back and rewatch a certain section like the drum solo I'm here for it. I wouldn't have minded if you went back even a third time lol. Especially if it's because you're trying to analyze a part and need to go over it again
Thanks for the kind words and suggestions there. I've had a lot of people say they wont mind if I go back over things so will bare that in mind for future videos. Be well.
Please check out Yoyoka playing a cover of ‘Burn’ by Deep Purple. The best video is with Ian Paice watching her covering his drumming. At 8 years old she covered Led Zeppelin, doing triplets like Bonham. Robert Plant was highly impressed her skill.
You don't need to apologize for stopping and talking, particularly about drum parts. That's specifically why we should be here. I would suggest once you pause, tap that left arrow 1-2 times to back the video up 5-10s, so things are less disjointed when you pick back up. It also allows you to talk about something, then play it again immediately so we can hear exactly what you were talking about. We want to learn, else we'd only watch yahoos who make phony faces, throw in a couple of ooo ahhhs in the most disposable fashion possible. The internet is saturated with those.
Great reaction. Depending on what type of genre you want to listen to BAND-MAID has a track for you. Check out live videos of Domination, Onset, Manners and Black Hole to get an idea of the different genre these incredibly talented women can perform. After that, pick any song and it will delight your drum world.
Akane Hirose ... also known as A-Chan or Gorilla! ... Happiest drummer EVER :D ... After one of their concerts in 2016, an attendee named Jimmy Page (You might have heard of him - from a band called Led Zeppelin?) was so impressed by the band, particularly the drummer, that he requested a photo op. Akane, humble practitioner that she is, thought she was being pranked initially ... but agreed (as you would with rock royalty) when she realised the truth ... It is reported that he said she plays like a reincarnation of Jon Bonham.
As I understand it, Jimmy Page told Akane that he admired her drumming because she played in the spirit of John Bonham. The true meaning got lost in translation but that surely doesn't take away Page's praise of her.
@@uffdad8211 as far as I’m aware, no one other than Akane heard what he said, and in her recounting of the conversation, she never said he mentioned Bonham.
@@uffdad8211 I found a translation of her tweet sharing what he said to her, and this was all: "You play very good drums, can I take a picture with you?"
Haha. Glad you enjoyed that. One of the immediate draws for me with this band was they are actually self-made and not a studio creation. After allowing their first studio to "direct" them, they almost quit, but then came Thrill, then their first sound exploded with Alone and it was off to the races. Drummer Akane Hirose may be the most outstanding female drummer (maybe any) right now.
Thanks for the kind words, and that is the main take away from this - that they are self made and not created in a studio or set of offices that are just used to then sell sillyness and blind the masses. It's very impressive on their part for sure, and they're all so talented. Be well.
Akane is the most versatile, talented, and joyful drummer of a generation. When the band gathers around the drum set they make faces at Akane to try and get her to mis a beat.
"Smile" is a vocal driven song but Akane holds everything down tight with some tasty bits slipped in. And all the while Misa is paying lead. I think this has the ending you were looking for. ruclips.net/video/4seA6Z-zCSg/видео.html
Oh if you love drums you'll love this band and Akane's work. Her playing is very tasteful and on point, she's my fav drummer ever. Let me suggest Secret My Lips/Secret Maiko Lips (one can't be heard without the other one) and some of their latest works like Sense, Black Hole, Without Holding Back, Giovanni instrumental... There's a lot to drum-scover 🤘🕊️
She's John Bonzo Bonham re incarnated and better. Actually, they have quite a lot from Zepellin. I mean, thay are not just a band for the name. They are a band, for real. They do enjoy to kick asses together. Zero ego fightings. Man, best hard rock band of the 21st century. For sure. Kanpai. 🍻
This definitely has Akane's longest solo in any video on their channel, but since it's one of their earlier song, it's pretty simple compared to their more recent stuff. Songs like, "Rinne," "Warning," and "Black Hole" show what happens when she's really cut loose.
Please check out Unleash the Archers - Awakening band playthrough music video. The drummers fills in that song are so epic and so simple, it's a display of power metal perfection.
Akane cites Ian Paice as an influence, and specifically 'Highway Star'...this solo gives me that vibe. She's 'Our Woman' from Toe...Kay...Yo!!! Big time 😁🤟
Honestly you can pick any song off their youtube channel and be blown away. There are a lot of songs that showcase Akane's work. They tend to span the entire rock Genre and get into things more on the metal side too. Songs that stick out to me for Drumming would be Bubble, also for something on the extreme end would be Rinne or Warning.
Hey DN, thoroughly enjoyed your reaction sir! I see you haven't reacted to Dirty Loops yet so I'd like to request their track Work Shit Out...unless you dislike over 2 minute long, world class drum solos! Aron Mellergård is the drummer and the band is managed by Quincy Jones ffs! Subbed for more, cheers.
Cheers eh Brew, I have that now well and truly in the line of next videos to respond to - I have on heck of a list and can't wait to explore some new tracks. Hopefully it's not too long a wait for you (a few weeks) Love a good solo and thanks for the sub. Be well.
Band Maid Forever! Akane Hiroso aka The Gorilla is the happiest drummer in the world! When Jimmy Page saw them in England he was so impressed he had to meet them and told Akane that she was the reincarnation of John Bonham! High Praise Indeed! Thanks for playing the Maids brother!😊😎🤘
Akane from BAND-MAID and Haruna from LOVEBITES are friends. They put out pictures of the two of them just chilling. What a dream tour that would be! Here's a link to the full video. ruclips.net/video/PCv3s0T4bx0/видео.html
There is also an isolation video of FUMIYA playing the same song. It's the same footage as from the official video, only there's no edit, no cutting away to another band member. Perhaps a two-video reaction is in order? ruclips.net/video/5Ii57wXS2vc/видео.html
Akane is one of the best drummer in the world today! She always have a great smile. Next time check out Warning (music video) Another Japanese drummer you should check out is Rina from Scandal. I can give you some suggestions and links for Scandal songs.
Band Maid is my favorite band at the moment...the song writing is over the top imho..solos never over-played...everyone seems to get a spot on almost every song...the constant variation through nearly every song, it never gets old no matter how many times you listen... Here's another in my top ten..Sokoninaru - Tenohira De Odoru - ruclips.net/video/n7MyoBki9wk/видео.html They have a live out of this somewhere and it wasn't too far of this studio version...and she has a playthrough where you can pick up on some of her timing ...methods(?)...which was odd. I don't recall seing her do that in the live?...Talent everywhere over there...the competition is very high...:)
I now consider myself a confirmed Maidiac. I recommend the live version of Manners and Black Hole. These 2 songs together showcase the brilliance of Akane, as well as everyone else in the band for that matter. Not sure if you've heard of Dirty Loops. A 3 piece band from Sweden. All 3 are amazing musicians. Try Rock You for starters. The drumming is top notch.
Welcome to Band-Maid Nation! :) Enjoy your trip down the pigeon hole! You'll eventually understand what that means. ;) If you want to explore more Japanese artists and there are a TON of them now, one band I would suggest checking out would be Scandal. They are another all female Jrock band. They've been playing together now for 15 years. For a first video of them to check out I will suggest a recent release from them, Masterpiece. ruclips.net/video/t-qVp94jB1o/видео.html
Love Band Maid. Saw them in concert in NYC back in 2019. They are fantastic live. All of them have a great stage presence. Even Akane back their on drums is always smiling. You should react to The Warning. 3 piece rock band from Mexico that is made up of 3 sisters. Pau (Paulina) is the drummer and she is awesome. At times she even sings lead on their songs. Here is a link to their song "Evolve". Paul isn't singing lead, Dany, is but Pau is just crusing it on drums. ruclips.net/video/3_RB0tRI624/видео.html
Would you believe she's gotten even better? This a band that actively challenges themselves to get better. I recommend their live online videos No God and Black Hole
One of the things I especially like with Akane's solo, is she stays in rhythm. Quite a few times I've seen drum solos labeled as "one of the greatest" falls flat for me because their rhythm is inconsistent. I can say the same for any solos, which is why I like the later Avenge Sevenfold (Nightmare and on) than the earlier ones...
It's always so much fun watching Akane perform. She always just looks like she is having the time of her life.
I really appreciate that you enjoy Akane drumming even when she is completely relaxed.
As a drummer, I think Akane is one of the best male or female drummers you can find in rock today.
You could set the world clock to how accurate and precise Akane is.
Jeremy, that would actually be a more accurate way to tell time globally for sure :P Be well.
Did you watched BryanForce Drums reaction too?
The flawless transition from drum solo, to guitar solo back to the rest is what always impressed me most.
It's not just flawless...the way it feeds into the guitar solo gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Soaring beauty.
@@williamb4652 Even more, it actually continues to slowly wind down from a solo during Mincho's guitar solo. So tastefully done, so beautifully fitting in, and so completely filling the needs of the song.

Watching their earlier tracks vs the newest is just amazing. One thing that stays the same is that they always make me smile.
It's hard not to see it and feel happier and in a better mood than before too
She really is super happy, and it comes across so well.
They usually don't block the reaction of official videos.
If you haven't heard a song yet, please try it. They will have an acoustic online live on Christmas December 25th.
1 Thrill : The first music video that saved them from dissolution. Classic rock 2014
2 Sense : The theme song of the anime "Platinum End". Dramatic, fast hard rock with a classic intro. 2021.10
3 Bubble : A tribute to the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, funky rock
4 Different
: First anime opening song, new sense of high-speed rock. Anime is Log Horizon 3rd season. 2020.12
5 Daydreaming : Beautiful power ballad. Saiki and Kobato vocals and Kanami's guitar solo are wonderful.
6 Dice : Rhythmic hard rock singing women's independence
7 about us : A gift for fans who cannot meet in a pandemic. Beautiful ballad. 2021.02
8 Freedom : A power rock that walks around the stage and conveys a smile.
The transition from drum solo to lead guitar is the best.
9 Manners : Declaration to create new hard rock while inheriting classic rock. Cool hard rock. Rock'n'Roll never die.
10 alone : The song they wrote, composed and released for the first time. Medium speed Hard Rock 2016
11 Secret My Lips & Secret Maiko Lips : Funky Hard Rock. A gift for fans of April Fool's Day .
12 Blooming : Vocals and chorus are impressive, and various types of music are fused.
13 RINNE : High-speed rhythmic heavy rock, inspired by the Japanese horror movie "RINNE : Reincarnation".
RINNE (Reincarnation) is also found in Eastern thought and Buddhist thought.
14 onset : Instrumental song for lead singer Saiki breaks, their great playing power and harmony.
15 Before Yesterday : Record of the first overseas performance, Sakura-Con in Seattle 2016. Melodic Rock with great lyrics.
16 Choose me : An insert song of the concert scene the Netflix movie KATE, they appeared as BAND MAID. Cool rock song.
17 Dragon Cry : The only song produced by Tony Visconti.
It's not their lyrics, but it sings about the future of human society and the earth. Great Heavy Classic Rock .
Added ★ Peace & Love : Founder Miku Kobato's solo project. Pigeon saves the world. Funky pop rock
Kanpai. 🍻
Fun facts: Akane's first instrument was trombone...which she still plays. Akane's drum hero is Nao Kawakita of Maximum the Hormone. Akane loves to eat bananas on-stage...and is often referred to as being "half-gorilla."
Potassium man. It's not a joke.
🦍🔥🦍🔥🦍🔥
I'm no drummer but I play one on TV and I'm pretty sure this is one of the simpler BAND-MAID songs as far as drums go.
Not just about drumming but Freedom is one of the most simple songs of Band Maid in general. Still great song though.
🥃🥁🤘🏼🤙🏼
The maid uniforms are what make them stand out from everyone else and the music is what keeps you coming back. That and of course thanks to word of mouth about how amazing they are as musicians.
Akane, shines through most Band Maid songs and it is unusual for her to get a solo, that is why this track was heavily requested. The joy on Akane's face is rarely matched by western drum players. To add to this, think of Tamu, from Nemophila and Haruna, from Lovebites both with smiles while they play 😁 Thank you for your reaction and comments. Akane, almost left you speechless!
One thing I love about BM is I can watch reactions from drummers, bassists, guitarists, vocalists, producers, etc, and they're all blown away by BM. 🤘
Hideki Aoyama - a second generation drummer - is the primary drummer in the Kami band, which is the backing band for Babymetal. Some highlights of his drumming.

In Babymetal's Road of Resistance, Hideki said he plays around 230 bpm @ 2:35 he is briefly highlighted (btw not his fastest BM drumming): ruclips.net/video/zTEYUFgLveY/видео.html
Finally for a change of pace, traditional Japanese drums. The drummers apprentice for a minimum of two years before being allowed to perform: ruclips.net/video/ZagsLrNzg3I/видео.html
Akane is more pocket than a good pair of cargo shorts. She reminds me of Gene Kruppa with her beaming smile while playing a fill.
thanks for another fun one!
Tony, that's an amazing comparison and great way to describe her deep pocket feel :) Love it! Happy Sunday.
Drumgasms? Well, that's a new one to me. And yet it's so fitting. :)
Akane Hirose is, in my opinion, one of the most talented and versatile drummers I have heard to date.

【 _Our rock never dies ever.
Just watching Akanes face during her drumming...so much love!
MISA MISA MISA! ahhhh Gina my first drummer crush I saw them Live in 81 here in Australia
@@DavidMISAMISAMISACook Awesome! 😎
They have a lot of really incredible live stuff if you ever want more
Superb drummer. One of the few that smiles and seems to enjoy it. Their Line Cube Shibuya show (on the internet somewhere) kicks off with Rinne and the Blooming, an absolute masterclass of drumming. The last album Unseen World - she goes up another level.
Love you dude! Great, great reaction! I love watching your vids. Keep up the amazing reactions. So glad I found your site!!!
Be well.
@@DRUMNERD 🙏
Excellent reaction.
Akane has such an easy looking style. She has a very relaxed look in her wrists. Love her enthusiasm reflected in her smile.
Thanks for the kind words. She is a proper powerhouse behind the kit eh, and so effortless. It really adds something special to the music. Happy Saturday :)
One of my favorite song of theirs and definitely my favorite video. Thank you for reacting to this video.
MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!!! 🥃🥃🥃 the best Hard Rock band in the world right now.
You made onto one of Band Maid 's fan clubs on Facebook Masters and Princess 's .
Thank you for the kind words and support mate, I will absolutely investigate babymetal and see what I can come up with :) Be well.
Go ahead and rewind if you want to hear parts over and comment about them. We wont mind at all 😀
Thank you I will be sure to as many have suggested the same. Happy Sunday.
Akane is so good she makes this look insanely easy. It's not the most complex song. But it is trickier to play than most people would think.
Cannot be better said, mate!
What about the disco hi-hat? Love it!
Oh man... go back and do it again on camera.
Try, " Onset " for more Great drum work & Band Maid doing Band Maid things !!😎👌
Great reaction Dude... Do Onset live instrumental... :) Best wishes from France..
Akane!!!
Thank you for reacting to bandmaid again
In their “Sense “ music video you can enjoy AKANE’s drumming techniques and incredible hard hitting greeting from Japan
Akane may be one of the best drummers around but she is certainly the happiest. Such a wonderful smile and such endurance.
Akane is my favorite drummer ever.
I love Natsumi from Bridear. She has a Cozy Powell homage clip on RUclips.
Hi from the UK 👋 🇬🇧 something you might like to check out
Nightwish devil and the deep dark ocean live in Buenos Aires
I'm 64 years old, I played drums for almost 45 years. Never pause on a solo. Drums or guitar it's just cool.
Be well.
Woof woof! 💜
You should do an epilogue section after the reaction breaking down notable things on subsequent listens.
Thanks for that suggestion James, I'll see how I can do that and look to implement it. Happy Sunday.
Um....Kanami was speaking... you've been warned ⚠️ Jk, nice reaction, I love seeing drummers react to Akane! She's phenomenal!
… as you described. With a giant smile.
Please check out Yoyoka playing a cover of ‘Burn’ by Deep Purple. The best video is with Ian Paice watching her covering his drumming. At 8 years old she covered Led Zeppelin, doing triplets like Bonham. Robert Plant was highly impressed her skill.
笑顔で演奏するから、みんな引き込まれるんだな。w
StenMark, they do play with such large smiles and joy - you're right for why we all get drawn in. Be well and stay safe :)
Happy Birthday 🎂 Akane, Drummer of Band-Maid🎀! We love 💘 your music 🎶 here in Silicon Valley! Feed 🍌 the Gorilla 🐒!
The John Bonham reference is just a rumor, but he definitely enjoyed her playing.
Be well.
The hard thing is who gets kicked down to make room for Akane in the top 10 rock drummers of all time?
Akane is the most versatile, talented, and joyful drummer of a generation. When the band gathers around the drum set they make faces at Akane to try and get her to mis a beat.
It's so tasty song.☕️🎵
It is rumored that NASA uses BAND-MAID's drummer to set their atomic clocks.
Ha! I heard that and also that they run big ben the same way :P Be well.
For sure.
Kanpai. 🍻
Akane!! Akane!! Akane!!
I suggest Secret my lips ... Akane shows all her versatility !!
This definitely has Akane's longest solo in any video on their channel, but since it's one of their earlier song, it's pretty simple compared to their more recent stuff. Songs like, "Rinne," "Warning," and "Black Hole" show what happens when she's really cut loose.
Nice reaction.
Check out the drummer from BabyMetal. Road of resistance live in Japan official
Big time 😁🤟
Phil, she has some great influencers that's for sure. I can only imagine who's now been influenced by her! Be well.
Be well.
@@DRUMNERD Just happy to have it in your que, thanks!
I want them to be more recognized in Japan.
Therefore, they are busy working to get the Japanese to know about them, so take a break.

Another Japanese drummer you should check out is Rina from Scandal. I can give you some suggestions and links for Scandal songs.
Drumgasms! Hahahaha!
You'll eventually understand what that means. ;)
If you want to explore more Japanese artists and there are a TON of them now, one band I would suggest checking out would be Scandal. They are another all female Jrock band. They've been playing together now for 15 years. For a first video of them to check out I will suggest a recent release from them, Masterpiece.

Paul isn't singing lead, Dany, is but Pau is just crusing it on drums. ruclips.net/video/3_RB0tRI624/видео.html

joyous thumder
Would you believe she's gotten even better? This a band that actively challenges themselves to get better. I recommend their live online videos No God and Black Hole
Did you know that Jimmy Page said Akane is one of the best Live Drummers he had seen ?
One of the things I especially like with Akane's solo, is she stays in rhythm. Quite a few times I've seen drum solos labeled as "one of the greatest" falls flat for me because their rhythm is inconsistent. I can say the same for any solos, which is why I like the later Avenge Sevenfold (Nightmare and on) than the earlier ones...
