Everything that pushed Orm to kill his own mother, and everything he has done after that, was his own mother's doing. I knew it was gonna happen from the beginning. Of course killing your own mother is... I can't even imagine. But I've enjoyed watching Orm in this film. Everyone could tell his hatred and rage blinded -or guided- his actions, but more than that, he was hurt and broken because his mother never loved him as much as she loved Arthur. And Orm never even knew him all those years so that must have hurt even more.
writers have gotten so lazy nowadays, every single fight scene with a speeder in any franchise or universe has the speedster zooming past and punching the opponent repeatedly with the force of a 2-year old's slap, and then the speedster that moves near or faster than light is caught, or countered, or tripped, by some rando moving at regular human speed. riiiight. superhuman reactions? nah. phase through matter? nah. infinite force punch or at least a more powerful punch? nah. flash can travel through time and all sorts of shit and he just gets taken out of the entire fight by tripping over a trident?? wtf? and not just the speeders imma just rant tf out now Shazam one-shot by lightning? Fights like this really show importance of compatibility between opponents. Superman was stronger overall, but Aquaman had better compatibility with Orm, and because of that could withstand more ass-kicking.
1:13 ok this scene makes perfect sense. The flash not able to react to a guy with a fork even thoe he can react to bullets being shot at him, faster than Superman proven in the war movie when they were escaping the omega beams which the flash out ran but Superman couldn’t out fly, and can fight arguably the fastest speedster in the entire dc universe, eobard thawne aka the reverse flash.
This scene alone develops Orm Marius and portrays him as a genuine threat to the Justice League than suppose to only Aquaman. This really takes after The New 52 based stories

The amount of plot armour that went into Orm beating the Justice league single handedly is absolutely astonishing. The king of the sea SOME HOW managed to beat the GOD OF LIGHTNING with LIGHTNING... They literally all walked infront of him and willingly took the beating.

It really takes you out of the movie to watch Oceanmaster take down the whole Justice League, it's just not very believable. An easy fix would've been to just remove the Justice League's ability to combat Oceanmaster directly. Not every villain has to be physically more powerful than the Justice League, Oceanmaster could've been just as if not more threatening if he had directed the Atlantean army to start destroying the city thus forcing the Justice League to focus on saving people rather than waste time fighting Oceanmaster. Then you can have a dramatic scene where Aquaman forces the army to stop fighting by challenging Oceanmaster's right to rule in ritual combat or something. It's actually so obvious I have no idea why they didn't just do this. I think the big mistake of DC superhero writers is focusing too much on the characters' fighting capabilities over other aspects of heroism. Between the Flash and Superman, the Justice League is unmatched in combat ability. If every superhero story amounted to whether or not the Justice League is able to beat up the bad guy then the Justice League would easily win every time. So the best way to utilize these lower-powered villains is to have them threaten things other than the heroes directly. Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash could probably each take down Oceanmaster in a matter of seconds, but they wouldn't be able to do that if they're busy preventing buildings from collapsing or evacuating civilians. There are so many ways to write villains that threaten the heroes, but writers always default to making the bad guys super strong in a fight even though we've seen Superman throw people into space and stuff. They could avoid these writing inconsistencies if they just got a little more creative.

The point is that creating a climax that is entirely reliant on the villain's combative capability is uninspired, and in the case of Oceanmaster it ignores the character's unique qualities that actually make him interesting as a villain. Oceanmaster isn't cool because he has a magic trident, he's cool because he's politically untouchable by anyone besides Aquaman. The movie pretends that dynamic doesn't exist.
This fight honestly kills the whole movie. Before anything, I’m a big Superman fan so there is a bias, I admit that. Believe me, I’m not a “Superman can never lose!” guy, but I prefer for Superman to lose fairly, like for him to actually lose on reasonable condition. That being said, I hate that the Justice League was nerf’d so hard, especially him. Shazam’s living lightning should NOT be shrugged off so hard by Orm. It doesn’t matter how you cut it, Shazam is literally shooting Zeus’s lightning bolt at him with no block and no defense and he took ZERO damage from it. Then somehow his own lightning can revert Shazam back to his human form? Absolutely not, without the incantation, no one should be able to turn Shazam back into his human form. Not to mention, Billy should be more than fast and strong enough to dominate Orm in a fight. It’s obvious they played it out this way to remove him from the fight for that reason. Next is Cyborg, a living supercomputer with tech from Apokolips. His arm cannon should be strong enough to hurt Kalibak. Orm shrugged that off too? So this guy has more physical durability than Darkseid and Orion and Superman? Absolutely not. Then there’s Wonder Woman, honestly I shouldn’t have to even mention this one. She’s practically immortal, even in the magic sense. She’s the daughter of Zeus. She’s the strongest of all of the Amazon’s. She’s literally able to lift objects weighing 50,000 pounds with no sweat. She’s a combat warlord and she’s been blessed with speed from Hermès and powers from all of the gods. And touching the trident just completely removed her from the fight? Lightning magic completely incapacitated the immortal daughter of Zeus? And he takes a point blank punch from her and still no damage? Then there’s the Flash. Holy shit, arguably one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe. This guy can move so fast that he turned back time, TWICE. He literally perceives everything in the slowest of slow motion and he didn’t see Orms slow ass hold out his trident in his running path? And those punches at that speed didn’t hurt Orm still? Just little baby jabs? The Flash hits insanely hard when he moves at super speed, and only beings like Superman or Shazam have a snowballs chance in hell of perceiving his movements, let alone predicting them efficiently and reacting to them. The Hal Jordan, come on man. Hal Jordan’s willpower and constructs should be INSANE. Why is he such a weak bitch here? I hate the disrespect they have been handing out to the green lanterns lately. It’s like they’re punishing him for the failed green lantern movie. It shouldn’t be that easy to defeat one of the strongest protectors of the whole solar sector. The guy travels between solar systems and fights planetary threats and he couldn’t even hurt Orm? Hell nah, put respect on my lanterns. Then Superman, man that one was stupid. Not like the others weren’t already. A being that can literally move the planet, move at a speed that is comparable to a speedster and affect time, see through almost any material in the world, heat vision accurate enough to cut like a scalpel or powerful enough to weld tears in the fabric of the universe, cold breath that can freeze the ocean as far as your eyes can see, heightened senses that allow him to hear ant sex and to see atoms in motion, and physical invulnerability, meaning there isn’t really any material or non-magical object that can outlast him. “He has a weakness to magic.” A weakness? Debatable, he just isn’t invulnerable to it. Meaning he can still take tons of it due to his density and physical strength. and that Magic still has to hit him while he uses all of those powers I listed. But nooo, they have him fly straight at Orm, shoot his heat vision right at Orms trident nonstop, and then have him go within striking distance to get stabbed by the magical object to remove him from the fight too. Then Orm loses to a sucker punch by a defeated Arthur Curry. No disrespect to aquaman, I love aquaman, but the rest of the league should’ve been incapacitated in ways that give more respect to their abilities. OR, go the movie route, make the justice league stop the invasion, but make them back off so Arthur can fight Orm fair and square to earn the respect of his people. That’s how it should be anyways, so they accept him regardless of his lifestyle or origin. I love the DC animated movies but this right here really got me scratching my head. And if we’re going off of this specific New-52 continuity, right after this the whole league (including Aquaman) fight doomsday and get fucked, and Wonder Woman is the only physical match that can hold her own against the monster. Superman was the only one strong enough to defeat him. Leaving a punch from Arthur more than negligible in this universe compared to his peers.
I just pretend Flashpoint Paradox and Death of Superman aren’t canon to the rest of the DCAMU and call it a day. The amount of ridiculousness in this universe as far as storytelling is concerned is bananas. I’ll bet if Batman were in this fight, he’d pull some bullshit magic-defeating gadget out of his utility belt like he did with Darkseid in the last movie. I made a video on that, by the way. 99% talk about orm is OP 1% can see he got The Trident of Poiseidon, not Aquaman. I think DC can make this become live action as Aquaman 2, Orm revenge, kill his mother and take the Trident from Arthur
This universe, it's timeline, it's writing could be wayyyyyy better. The writers had a lot of material they wanted to showcase but the presented it in a sloppy manner. Still, the voice actors and the animators as well as the character design is very good. Hell, even the fight choreography can be good too. Hopefully, we will one day get a great cinematic universe done right for the fans. No changing stories, no making confusing timelines (basically not releasing their movies in order) and overall just better writing.

Everything that pushed Orm to kill his own mother, and everything he has done after that, was his own mother's doing. I knew it was gonna happen from the beginning. Of course killing your own mother is... I can't even imagine. But I've enjoyed watching Orm in this film. Everyone could tell his hatred and rage blinded -or guided- his actions, but more than that, he was hurt and broken because his mother never loved him as much as she loved Arthur. And Orm never even knew him all those years so that must have hurt even more.
writers have gotten so lazy nowadays, every single fight scene with a speeder in any franchise or universe has the speedster zooming past and punching the opponent repeatedly with the force of a 2-year old's slap, and then the speedster that moves near or faster than light is caught, or countered, or tripped, by some rando moving at regular human speed. riiiight. superhuman reactions? nah. phase through matter? nah. infinite force punch or at least a more powerful punch? nah.

Fights like this really show importance of compatibility between opponents. Superman was stronger overall, but Aquaman had better compatibility with Orm, and because of that could withstand more ass-kicking.
1:13 ok this scene makes perfect sense. The flash not able to react to a guy with a fork even thoe he can react to bullets being shot at him, faster than Superman proven in the war movie when they were escaping the omega beams which the flash out ran but Superman couldn’t out fly, and can fight arguably the fastest speedster in the entire dc universe, eobard thawne aka the reverse flash.
This scene alone develops Orm Marius and portrays him as a genuine threat to the Justice League than suppose to only Aquaman. This really takes after The New 52 based stories

It really takes you out of the movie to watch Oceanmaster take down the whole Justice League, it's just not very believable. An easy fix would've been to just remove the Justice League's ability to combat Oceanmaster directly.
Not every villain has to be physically more powerful than the Justice League, Oceanmaster could've been just as if not more threatening if he had directed the Atlantean army to start destroying the city thus forcing the Justice League to focus on saving people rather than waste time fighting Oceanmaster. Then you can have a dramatic scene where Aquaman forces the army to stop fighting by challenging Oceanmaster's right to rule in ritual combat or something. It's actually so obvious I have no idea why they didn't just do this.
I think the big mistake of DC superhero writers is focusing too much on the characters' fighting capabilities over other aspects of heroism. Between the Flash and Superman, the Justice League is unmatched in combat ability. If every superhero story amounted to whether or not the Justice League is able to beat up the bad guy then the Justice League would easily win every time. So the best way to utilize these lower-powered villains is to have them threaten things other than the heroes directly. Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash could probably each take down Oceanmaster in a matter of seconds, but they wouldn't be able to do that if they're busy preventing buildings from collapsing or evacuating civilians. There are so many ways to write villains that threaten the heroes, but writers always default to making the bad guys super strong in a fight even though we've seen Superman throw people into space and stuff. They could avoid these writing inconsistencies if they just got a little more creative.

The point is that creating a climax that is entirely reliant on the villain's combative capability is uninspired, and in the case of Oceanmaster it ignores the character's unique qualities that actually make him interesting as a villain. Oceanmaster isn't cool because he has a magic trident, he's cool because he's politically untouchable by anyone besides Aquaman. The movie pretends that dynamic doesn't exist.

This fight honestly kills the whole movie. Before anything, I’m a big Superman fan so there is a bias, I admit that. Believe me, I’m not a “Superman can never lose!” guy, but I prefer for Superman to lose fairly, like for him to actually lose on reasonable condition. That being said, I hate that the Justice League was nerf’d so hard, especially him. Shazam’s living lightning should NOT be shrugged off so hard by Orm. It doesn’t matter how you cut it, Shazam is literally shooting Zeus’s lightning bolt at him with no block and no defense and he took ZERO damage from it. Then somehow his own lightning can revert Shazam back to his human form? Absolutely not, without the incantation, no one should be able to turn Shazam back into his human form. Not to mention, Billy should be more than fast and strong enough to dominate Orm in a fight. It’s obvious they played it out this way to remove him from the fight for that reason. She’s practically immortal, even in the magic sense. She’s the daughter of Zeus. She’s the strongest of all of the Amazon’s. She’s literally able to lift objects weighing 50,000 pounds with no sweat. She’s a combat warlord and she’s been blessed with speed from Hermès and powers from all of the gods. And touching the trident just completely removed her from the fight? Lightning magic completely incapacitated the immortal daughter of Zeus? And he takes a point blank punch from her and still no damage? Then there’s the Flash. Holy shit, arguably one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe. This guy can move so fast that he turned back time, TWICE. He literally perceives everything in the slowest of slow motion and he didn’t see Orms slow ass hold out his trident in his running path? And those punches at that speed didn’t hurt Orm still? Just little baby jabs? The Flash hits insanely hard when he moves at super speed, and only beings like Superman or Shazam have a snowballs chance in hell of perceiving his movements, let alone predicting them efficiently and reacting to them. The Hal Jordan, come on man. Hal Jordan’s willpower and constructs should be INSANE. Why is he such a weak bitch here? I hate the disrespect they have been handing out to the green lanterns lately. It’s like they’re punishing him for the failed green lantern movie. It shouldn’t be that easy to defeat one of the strongest protectors of the whole solar sector. The guy travels between solar systems and fights planetary threats and he couldn’t even hurt Orm? Hell nah, put respect on my lanterns. Then Superman, man that one was stupid. Not like the others weren’t already. A being that can literally move the planet, move at a speed that is comparable to a speedster and affect time, see through almost any material in the world, heat vision accurate enough to cut like a scalpel or powerful enough to weld tears in the fabric of the universe, cold breath that can freeze the ocean as far as your eyes can see, heightened senses that allow him to hear ant sex and to see atoms in motion, and physical invulnerability, meaning there isn’t really any material or non-magical object that can outlast him. “He has a weakness to magic.” A weakness? Debatable, he just isn’t invulnerable to it. Meaning he can still take tons of it due to his density and physical strength. and that Magic still has to hit him while he uses all of those powers I listed. But nooo, they have him fly straight at Orm, shoot his heat vision right at Orms trident nonstop, and then have him go within striking distance to get stabbed by the magical object to remove him from the fight too. Then Orm loses to a sucker punch by a defeated Arthur Curry. No disrespect to aquaman, I love aquaman, but the rest of the league should’ve been incapacitated in ways that give more respect to their abilities. OR, go the movie route, make the justice league stop the invasion, but make them back off so Arthur can fight Orm fair and square to earn the respect of his people. That’s how it should be anyways, so they accept him regardless of his lifestyle or origin. I love the DC animated movies but this right here really got me scratching my head. And if we’re going off of this specific New-52 continuity, right after this the whole league (including Aquaman) fight doomsday and get fucked, and Wonder Woman is the only physical match that can hold her own against the monster. Superman was the only one strong enough to defeat him. Leaving a punch from Arthur more than negligible in this universe compared to his peers.
I just pretend Flashpoint Paradox and Death of Superman aren’t canon to the rest of the DCAMU and call it a day. The amount of ridiculousness in this universe as far as storytelling is concerned is bananas. I’ll bet if Batman were in this fight, he’d pull some bullshit magic-defeating gadget out of his utility belt like he did with Darkseid in the last movie. I made a video on that, by the way. I feel like what would've saved this movie was if Aquaman was dealing with this and the Justice League came in to save civilians and when it came time to confront Orm, Aquaman would be all like "No...he's mine". Cuz it wouldn't mean much to the Atlantians if a surface dweller finished Orm off, it'd have to be Aquaman. Instead of making the whole JL look as weak as the Suicide Squad

This universe, it's timeline, it's writing could be wayyyyyy better. The writers had a lot of material they wanted to showcase but the presented it in a sloppy manner. Still, the voice actors and the animators as well as the character design is very good. Hell, even the fight choreography can be good too. Hopefully, we will one day get a great cinematic universe done right for the fans. No changing stories, no making confusing timelines (basically not releasing their movies in order) and overall just better writing.
