If you look closely, all his next attacks were aimed to the head. Maybe it just pure coincidence, but you can say he was trying to hit weakspots like the eyes.
@James Remus He said it himself. He heard of Aquaman and has been anticipating the day he got to meet and fight him. He saw Aquaman has a great challenge...until his dad died, and now he hates him on a more personal level.
Aquaman was too stupid/inexperienced to take a weapon he saw David Sr. load with an explosive round and was still in his hand. He could've shot Arthur in the back of the head with it if he hadn't yelled at him first. And that is just the beginning of how badly Arthur screwed up here. But hey, you gotta start somewhere.
@The Bengalee Sceptic in traditional heroic literature, which aquaman fits into, the key difference between a hero and a villain is having mercy. The hero is suppose to rise above common sensebilities such as yours and do what's right. Because without it there is only contempt and anger at each side and very little distinguishing who's good and who is bad. This scene is a classic example. The father may not have deserved to be saved, but by doing so, Arthur could have prevented the creation of another villain. By not saving him he created a new cycle of hatred which resulted in far more death and destruction.

Manta's reason for initially attacking was because Arthur interrupted their attempt to commandeer the submarine. Arthur is known by everyone, but Manta did not know he was impervious to their weapons. He did not fear him until his blade failed to pierce Arthur's skin.
I miss Black Manta from the 60s: he was a mad lad, instead of poor reasoning, he had no reasoning. He never explained why he hated Aquaman and wanted to kill him so much, but he also had plans to move all of the black people in the world into Atlantis, for some reason... ...And he used to run around with genetically-modified "Manta Men" who were basically Manta rays with a pair of human legs and they were completely useless in battle but he had armies of them anyway and he'd just send them to kill Aquaman but they were as equally useless in the ocean as they were on land. Not even mentioning Black Manta in one of the more recent comics where he set up a fish and chip shop and retired from villainy but then heard Aquaman was still alive and immediately burnt his shop down and started hunting him again.
DC movie logic........ I’m not a Marvel fanboy but the only thing I didn’t like about this movie was Black Manta’s story and his orange suit. His orange suit looks too cartoony.
This was a great idea for the characters, it gave a little more personality to Arthur because you know if it was anyone else from the justice league they probably would've went back to save him anyway. Especially super man

Heck, even then it's just the really extreme fans; most real fans will either love them both or just love one but still be able to appreciate the other.
Actors in both Marvel and DC have shown respect and fondness for eachother. Brie Larson said repeatedly on the Captain Marvel press tour that her favourite superhero was Wonder Woman. Aquaman was too stupid/inexperienced to take a weapon he saw David Sr. load with an explosive round and was still in his hand.

Finally, a hero who doesn't sacrifice the innocent to save a villain in hopes of redeeming him.
Daniel Haire and for that reason now he has Black Manta as an arch enemy
@@iamatn3317 Doesn't change the fact that it was the right call as it allowed Aquaman to save the sailor.
Daniel Haire Aquaman legit stated in the movie that he made the wrong call and that he should have saved his father. That was the whole reason he spared Orm at the end of the movie.
Absolutely. I was sick and tired of the whole thing 'no kill' rule bullshit😊
Poulsen Jackson tell Batman that.
bandit: "Can't wait to count out your coins".
Also bandit: "Stop! I cannot best you!" 🤣🤣🤣
They did a great job on the suit for Black Manta.
Nah I didn’t like it, felt like the eyes were way too big (they are supposed to be big yes but not that big)
It looks awesome
He's pretty much DCs boba fett
@@zestyfruitloops6290 they are supposed to be big or may be if they made it too big it's because it's his first suit and if we get the chance and we probably will we will see him make a more advanced suit as he progress through his story like ironman in each movie he makes a suit more advanced than the one before.
JRA Tu Amigo true, shame about the name😔an they’ve made him weak🤦🏽♂️
@@zestyfruitloops6290 Actually, if you look up 'Black Manta' on Google Images you'll find at least 5-10 comic/animated versions where the eyes are as big as they are in the movie.
i love how he show his Polynesian heritage when he pulled that pipe to throw it
Joseph Raymond Yeah. Nice change to the character which makes sense. Besides the Dutch people I think Polynesian (some tribes at least) have the greatest... Well let’s say connection to the ocean. So making the king of the ocean Polynesian makes a lot of sense
@@albertschoise8091The Dutch being the ones with the biggest connection to the ocean? How? I can think in other European nations that have far more ties to the ocean than the Netherlands
davitxenko .... BAHAHAHA. Like WHO?! The land trapped Switz?! The huge and mostly land french?! Oh no! The snow trapped Russians! The Dutch have conquered the ocean, loved it, lived it, took and gave to it. Wanna know why the Dutch golden age happened?! Because of their incredible use of the ocean and shipfare. Name ONE country that had more of a connection to the ocean then the Netherlands
@@albertschoise8091 The Greeks have been sailing through the Mediterranean for commercial purposes since antiquity and still today there is a very strong maritime culture in Greece.
I also have to mention the Spaniards and Portuguese who were the ones who created the modern navigation and who discovered and mapped all the seas, sea routes and continents. Your beloved Dutchmen arrived about 100 years late to the era of discoveries when there was nothing left to discover. Nowadays the love of the sea is still present in these two countries, maybe more in Portugal since Spain has much more territory without coast.
And like forgetting the United kingdom, which is an island nation, basically they have no other choice but to have a strong connection with the sea. In the nineteenth century they were unbeatable at sea.
@@albertschoise8091 Polynesian and island people have the greatest connection to the sea. Claiming Dutch or any other continental population can compete is just ridiculous.
Let's be honest here if Aquaman had saved his dad he would just have to fight them both again.
M B he kinda did fight them again except he only fought manta
@Lefter Mc LOL
Lefter Mc no cause there bad guys always gotta bring race into it
@Lefter Mc dude I would like to see an white black manta
Lefter Mc you are what’s wrong with society
3:43 a strong man runs away but an even stronger man faces death right in the eye as if it was their father.
Whether he stayed or ran from that bomb, his father still dies so he carried out his mission instead, by running away I know all of you are cheering for Aquaman but I can’t help to not notice something like this as admirable.
1.) Manta's dad blasts Aquaman with an exploding bullet that throws him across the room
2.) Made to look like it's a big deal and Manta and his father silently celebrate
3.) Aquaman shakes it off with an, "ow!"
My favourite part of this clip!
It's a grenade, not a bullet.
40mm grenade.
My favorite part was the kid expecting aquaman to help after they tried to kill him.
@@handlebarmustachio9301 IKR, the audacity XD!
He can’t be harmed by man made things only Atlantean things
@@thescreenslaver8520 Yeeeaah, I kinda figured😒
Great way to show Black Manta’s hatred towards Aquaman.
IW_LEGENDARY_SAYaiN22 no it wasn’t dialogue was terrible. Action was good tho
Yes
What motivation does he have other than I don't like him because I have absolutely no reason to? The dialog in this movie is horrible and the characters are just a stupid. Firing a shot from a grenade launcher at a guy standing less than 2' away from your own son's face and then shooting at your own submarine. I've seen a lot of stupid movie characters, but that guy takes the cake.
@@nynenewsatfyve4776 at least it won't make you feel pity for them but the music thou
@@nynenewsatfyve4776 lol aren't those torpedoes laying right next to him as he fired that shot? The movie did have a ditzy vibe to it.
I honestly don’t feel bad for Black Manta’s dad...he caused his own death
Aquaman must pay for this
He should be so lucky though. Arthur left him to die after manta's dad tried to shoot him the 2nd time. Plus, Arthur knows what they were up to. If this was Batman, he'll go straight for the kill that his dad won't even have the time to cock the grenade launcher in the first place.
@@The_SUN1234 why would you ever save someone who tried to kill you, not even mentioning that they killed submarine workers? If i were him i would just kill those 2 on the spot. They don't deserve neither compassion nor mercy.
Primordial Kiryu231 killing them would make you a killer too. Think!!
