Jimmy Lydon is still around - 97 years old! Jimmy "Jack" Zahner would later appear in the classic exploitation film MOM AND DAD (1945). And although they had bit parts here, always great to see Isabel Jewell and William Demarest.
I'm glad I read the comments. I'm halfway through the movie, and my thought was that Jimmy Lydon was the best part of the movie. I could do without Jack Oakies antics. So Jimmy Lydon is still alive? That's good to know, thanks. My Mother lived to be 97 and a half.
I have loved this movie since I first saw it in January 1991.the 1934 version is great too.

Ah! You're the only one who says what I was suspecting! I read Little Men when I was 10 or 12 years old, so I vaguely remember it. But this film is absolutely different from the original story.
Yes the movie is in name only adaption of the book.check out the 1934 movie version of little men starring Erin o brien moore.ut is more faithful to the book.also I like Erin o brien Moore better as jo than Kay francis.

i love kay francis, but not in this movie. she's so tall and elegant. i just can't equate her with a role like this. this would've been a perfect vehicle for june allyson who played the same character in little women.
June Allyson didn't play jo until nine years later.kay Francis I thought was good as jo.she wasn't rough and tomboyish.but maybe since she was grown up now they wanted jo to be more refined.
