Well, Filipinos can speak American accent if they want to.Most of the Filipinos are just too shy to speak American Accent for they fear to be ridiculed. Unless you work in a BPO where you can get Filipinos who speak American or British accent.
No need to copy others accent. Because thats your originality. If you try to be american, you cant be good cause you are only impersonating. On the other hand you will lose your phillipinaness along with it. So its a lose lose situation.
@@pax4370 Just because a Filipino is fluent and adapts the proper phonology of a language doesn't mean he/she of such ethnicity would lose their heritage. Yeah sure you have to impersonate their diction in order for you to reach fluency yet it does not equates to you loosing your innate capability to properly speak your native tongue. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of Filipinos especially the youth who are bilingual but it ultimately depends on their daily use and interaction with the said language which result to their efficiency of using it.
And there is nothing wrong with a Filipino accent, because Filipino English / Filipino accent is actually a "thing". Meaning it is accepted as one of the English accents globally. I should know, I teach IELTS 😊
