This store doesn't look too bad, some of the Sears and Dillard's I have been in while visiting the US have been in awful condition with battered walls, broken tiles, stained carpets and water stained ceilings. Here in the UK we have a couple of dept. store chains called Debenhams and House of Fraser and both have stores that look much worse than that.
I suspect after the Corona has passed we will see more stores close as people become even more used to shopping online and feel the mall isn't somewhere they want to go anymore.

Not surprised this Macy's is closing. The upper floor looks like a Sears and the bottom floor looks like a JC Penney.

Macy's is not in Iowa. But I was to Woodfield Mall 2 times.
Been to the spring hill mall once
There’s nothing left I’m afraid.the only places holding Spring Hill Mall together are the Barnes and Noble anchor and the Kohl’s.and maybe Cinemark which was a huge part of their 50 million dollar investment.iwith the closing of The Sears which this location was actually one of the most profitable and Macy’s before the Pandemic adding to the already closure of Carson Pirie Scott.certainly was kind of a surprise to me.I hope that Brookfield can do something before it’s too late.

Great video as always! Yet another victim of Macy’s neglect, this store will probably end up meeting the wrecking ball like the one at Stratford because Macy’s couldn’t bother to uphold the Marshall Fields standard of service
If they don’t clean up their act Hawthorn could be next on the chopping block, it’s in a good area but a half dead mall and the store has not been remodeled in ages, go check it out because it has original 1973 Fields mosaic tile work in the basement
I watching out for River Oaks, Joliet, and State Street the most right now.
Lost Departments I do not want the one at Louis Joliet to close because I like that one but fox valley is close to Louis Joliet. It will be sad becuase I love Louis Joliet mall it reminds me of Spring Hill and Stratford square.
@@retailadventures6 I do have a bad feeling Louis Joliet will eventually close. Someone else mentioned on another Facebook retail group, that Joliet was on the Macy's 'neighborhood store' list, which was their slower performing stores which more likely will close. I also worry Hawthorn Center may be vulnerable to eventually closing, since that mall isn't too far away from a new Macy's that opened a few years ago at Gurnee Mills.
Sears was a paradise growing up.a Sears credit card back when was like having a golden ticket.i feel when the merger of Sears and Kmart came to be in 1995.it was a bad idea.so much could have been done to change the outlook and outcome for Sears.not so much for Kmart.im disgusted for what Eddie Lampbert did to Sears.for such a legend and a legacy.not to mention the employees.those who made a name for themselves through both their dedication and devotion to Sears.god bless each and everyone who gave their smiles in those aisles.
Sadly, Louis Joliet will probably be next, and yes Spring Hill is done, they'll probably close in the next year or so

It looks like a bargain center. Oh but wait, it is. Macy’s usually doesn’t spend much on their locations. Macy’s of today is no where as nice as they were back in the day. The clothes look tired and dated. Unfortunately I think the entire mall is dead.
