    Just wanna say to those here reading the comments, skill points REALLY pick up once you get to the forbidden west. I had been playing for a bit and all of a sudden had 15 unused skill points. All in all, don’t sweat it too much about what to get, there’s plenty to go around!

    Grabbing those health skills really helped in the beginning. Now the stealth is getting to be fun and reminiscent of AC in a way.

    Low Profile is so underrated in this game. Along w an armor buff, a Level 4 Low Profile is near broken in how invisible it makes you to the enemy. You can pull off some straight up zany movement when stealthing with a Level 4 Low Profile buff. It is an absolute must for any stealth build!
    I personally LOVE stealth builds & my default armor that I wear whenever I'm outside of battle or stealth killing enemies & humans is a strictly stealth oriented armor w all stealth buffs.

    Stealth Ranged+ is particularly powerful later on when you have access to Braced Shot, spike throwers & just more powerful weaponry in general. You can do some massive initial damage w one of your strongest weapons focused on a weak point, specially when combined w Valor Surges.

    • @ArktixOfficial

      @ArktixOfficial I know I've been underusing them for sure! I'm in the mid-game right now (first playthrough), and I just started using the shield valor surge instead of only the healing and res potion one. This video inspired me to check out more of these new mechanics and play around with them more often. Thanks for making such excellent guides!

  • @skins4thewin
    @skins4thewin 2 года назад +3

    I really hope you adjust your stance on the Crit Boost Valor Surge. It's maximum benefit is when used with rapid firing weapons such as the Warrior Bows and Boltblasters. Since they hit so many times you will end up with a TON of Crit hits.
    This should also only really be used in combination with Freeze, since that negates armor & thus is always the ideal situation to use these rapid firing weapons in since you won't necessarily always be hitting weak spots with these fast firing weapons that can't be aimed well. With Freeze this won't matter as you'll be doing good damage regardless of where you hit the foe. The most effective use of freezing is usually to just dump ammo into the foe as fast as you can.
    For other slower weapons Crit Boost is simply not as good as other Valor Surges such as Ranged Master. It is the far better choice when using your normal weaponry, specially slower firing ones that won't be getting in a ton of shots. Less shots equals less crits so there's really no reason to use Crit Boost with them. You'll likely also be taking your time to hit weak spots w your slower weaponry, in which case you're going to see far more damage on a consistent basis w Ranged Master.
    Your tips are really great for the most part tho so I hope my comments don't come across as too discouraging. You've definitely got a very good grasp of the game!

    • @ArktixOfficial
      @ArktixOfficial  2 года назад +2

      Thanks! No, your comments aren't discouraging, but you do like to comment a lot! And yeah, so I have changed my stance on Critical Boost. My preference is Ranged Master now and I also like Powershots and Stealth Stalker like you mentioned in another comment for opening shots. I agree Critical Boost is best for warrior bows, boltblasters, and other fast firing weapons, which makes sense given it's in the melee tree. Having put dozens more hours into the game now, I've realized my skills recommendations probably aren't optimal, but I think they're still good recommendations overall for people getting started. I might go back at some point and do an updated skills guide now that I have more hours in the game.

      @@ArktixOfficial Lol sorry bout that, I kind of binge watched some of your vids & I do indeed love chatting about this sort of stuff! I am just as surprised that you ended up responding to each and every one of my comments! It's refreshing to see that.
      I can be a bit overly passionate about the finer details in these sorts of games I suppose. There are specific games that I make a point to try to master & thus I end up doing a lot of various research on the mechanics in order to become the best player I can be. That's just how I enjoy these games I suppose, becoming absolutely OP & doing things as efficiently as possible.

    I guess you hadn't checked out the Options menu yet when you made this vid, but you can definitely adjust the slowdown time of concentration when jumping, the weapon wheel, the concentration duration, etc. A whole lot of stuff can be adjusted to benefit the player in the Options menu. It's absolutely worth going thru them to adjust what you think you may need.

    • @ArktixOfficial
      @ArktixOfficial  2 года назад

      Yeah, so I had checked the settings pretty early on. I know about the setting for adjusting weapon wheel slowdown, but I haven't seen a setting to adjust slowdown while jumping. What setting is that?

    • @skins4thewin
      @skins4thewin 2 года назад +1

      @@ArktixOfficial I think the other settings also affect jump slowdown, although I might actually be wrong on that. It is indeed quite hard to aim while jumping even with the slowdown, thus I don't use it very often as it's pretty impractical.

    • @ArktixOfficial
      @ArktixOfficial  2 года назад

      Hmm ok. Yeah I’ll have to mess around with it some more to see if it affects jump slowdown. I utilized the Hunter Reflexes skill all the time in HZD, but I’ve kind of trained myself not to jump so much now in FW. I admit it was a bit OP in HZD. That’s probably why the nerfed it.

    I really suck at melee, so it's long-distance fighting for me unless I can sneak in to perform Silent Strikes... and traps, lots of traps.

    • @ArktixOfficial
      @ArktixOfficial  2 года назад

      Yeah melee still isn’t super great. If you can unlock some of the combos in the soil tree and memorize them that helps a lot. Doing the combos will break through enemies blocking you. But even then, melee isn’t great in my opinion. Unfortunately, the early game weapons are so weak that your kind forced to use melee a bit on borrowers and scrounges for a little while.

    Maybe it's my skill level, but I've never once ran out of berries in my main pouch while playing, at least not yet. I find the Medicine Capacity skill to be worthless in that regard, and you can refill it pretty fast if you need to anyway so I don't really see the point unless you need it to get further in the skill tree. The advice tho in this video overall is very sound!

      @@ArktixOfficial I find it helpful to make it a point to focus on dodging over firing. Always prioritize negating damage over dishing it out, and use the I frames you get when rolling or sliding to avoid damage. For any melee attacks its usually best to roll or slide towards the enemy as that almost always avoids the attack.
      Enemies in this game telegraph their attacks pretty hugely, so once you've learned an enemies various attacks you can time your rolls and slides to compensate. It does take some practice to get the timings down but I can pretty effectively avoid most damage during active up close combat, which I must admit is very fun to do :)
      I also happen to play very stealthily, thus I never directly engage an enemy head on unless absolutely necessary. I will always attack from cover or tall grass whenever possible, and I always try to use both against foes that I can't kill in a single shot, so that they have a better chance of losing sight of me after an attack. I do a lot of hit & cover style tactics against tougher foes when the terrain allows me to.
