quigs Jay loved this shit I mean him going up there and slashing record after record got himself going he genuinely loved this shit the dude loved going on tour with new material he was insanely awesome wish I could’ve went to one of his shows
I really love Jay Reatard's music and I listen him every day but it also let me feel so sad to know that I will never see him live and he will never create other garage-punk masterpieces
amazing musician and great dude - but to anybody saying this crowd is lame, the only way they crowd could possibly keep up with him is if he shared some of the blow that he obviously did right before this set lmao
Jay was a douchebag, I can assure you since I lived with him and met him before he even coined his "nickname" (that wasn't a choice on his part by the way).
Jay Reatard would fall so nicely into today’s punk revival. But during the mid 00s was a really good era for underground punk bands and backyard shows.
I was 11 when this was filmed and I would have loved Jay Reatard more than anything, but obviously wasn't aware of pitchfork or underground music back then lol. His personality and style reminds me of the same-age local fail-bands I thought were so cool back then

Whenever I realize on what specific date something great like this show happened, I always try to remember what I was doing , or what I was likely to be doing at the same exact moment it was going on. It's both kinda sad (that I missed it), and a cause for celebration (that it was happening at all). Makes me wonder what grandiose thing is unfolding as I type this. As I drink my 5th beer.
@@nevthepunk yup. I’m standing right in front of Jay. Brown shirt shirt hair. Was right next to the guy who kept stepping on his pedals and who he threatened to kick in the face. I plugged his pedals back in.
I’m the guy right next to Jay in the brown shirt. This venue was about 12 feet wide and 6 ft high. Moshing would have been incredibly awkward and not much fun. The night after this at Death By Audio was much moshier and equally fun.
Ugh he passed three years after this set. All the praise I wish I could have gave him. Rest in peace you wild animal
Truly ferocious energy. What a loss. I don't think there's been anyone since who rocks this hard.
There hasn’t ._.
The fucking KING. Gone, but never forgotten. No one has rocked anywhere close this hard since his passing.
This set should be in every museum

Is a pyramid a museum if you sell poor tourists water in it?
(name of the song), LETS GO!
no stops. so rad lmao
Definition of underrrated. Jay was a the gem that was better than all the rest but never had the dirt cleaned off. Perfect.
Am I the only one who often comes back to see this video for the bassist's performance?! RIP Jay
come back at least once a year
now in wavves hehe
i come back every once in a while too!
@@AcrylicHouseMusicit’s been more than a decade dickweed
I come back for Jay!
goddamn. It's crazy how he blasts through the set
All of those guys! Props to all of them.
Cocaine eyes
I had the honor of interviewing Jay for Spin back in the late 2000's. Probably the greatest rocker of my generation, who left us way too soon.
Can i still read your interview somewhere?
Really? Definitely agree with above ^^
rip jay.
Need this interview
Just ripping through the tunes. Legendary
RIP
iamthefirsttosecond such an enjoyable set. So inspirational.
Ripping through the set, no bs filler in between. Just like The Ramones. This is how it's done.

2021 and still can't stop watching this gig....
RIP TO ONE OF THE GREATEST MUSICIANS OF ALL TIME.
A true underrated artist. Catchy song after catchy song and i cant seem to get enough! Jay you will always be missed dearly...
great guy, seriously a genuinely good person. as violent as he seemed. He had a good heart, it shines through the music
quigs Jay loved this shit I mean him going up there and slashing record after record got himself going he genuinely loved this shit the dude loved going on tour with new material he was insanely awesome wish I could’ve went to one of his shows
Nobody back then probably thought that this would be viewed by garage rockers all over the globe.
rip fucking legend
A true OG of the garage rock wave. \m/. No one could ever match that rage.
Still can't believe he's gone. RIP legend
A piece of history. The legend of Jay and his band live on.
Are we going to talk about how this set contains the best version of "Oh It's Such a Shame"?
I was just thinking the same about "my shadow
i feel like he's kinda rushed but i love "Nightmares" so much here
And the best version of Hammer i miss you too.
absolutely shredding. They hit a peak during that song.
Those solos at the end are so brutal but so heartfelt. He is so free. That moment encapsulates jimmy lee Lindsay
Miss this goofball so much and I never even knew him. Always find myself crawling back to this video just to see how a real show is done.
I really love Jay Reatard's music and I listen him every day but it also let me feel so sad to know that I will never see him live and he will never create other garage-punk masterpieces
This is one of the most underrated punk bands
Will Reader *was ;(
Seconded.
coolest thing
Wants to like this comment but doesn’t wanna let it go past 69 thumbs up
I mean I guess they are not super mainstream but they are not underrated jay reatard has gotten tons of critical acclaim and is appropriately rated
It's 2021. I'm still here.
amazing musician and great dude - but to anybody saying this crowd is lame, the only way they crowd could possibly keep up with him is if he shared some of the blow that he obviously did right before this set lmao
Truth anyhow.
doesn’t take blow to mosh lol
Prejudgment is a plague humans like to share to other humans that didn't ask
Jay was a douchebag, I can assure you since I lived with him and met him before he even coined his "nickname" (that wasn't a choice on his part by the way).
he didn't like the crowds doing anything, he said it many times. no clapping, no cheering. just stand there and nod
King of punk rock, missing you Jay
Wavves and Jay Reatard
Jay Reatard would fall so nicely into today’s punk revival. But during the mid 00s was a really good era for underground punk bands and backyard shows.
The sound quality is incredibly awesome, not to mention the performance itself :---0
This is such a fine capture of a phenomenal performance. This is the closest I'll feel to being at a Jay Reatard show :-/

i was sitting in some stupid college class picking my nose (in all likelihood)
Definately gonna be grandiose lmao look tf out! Here we go
Awesome comment. I've done the same
So, err, what were you doing 10th October 2007?
I was probably playing wii
Billy is such a dope drummer man
dude has a tone of stamina
Blood Visions was the soundtrack to high school for me.
Me too man.
Just recently discovered theses guys. Completely blew my mind. Really good stuff.
DITTO
You left too early Jay! The most underrated punk rock band of all time. May you find your reward in the afterlife!
Absolutely SICK AND GUTTED that I'll never get to see Jay live. What a fuckin powerhouse. RIP.
still one of the best live sets ive ever watched
love the crowd, they are awkward but they have energy and that's what matters
Haha that’s me you’re talking about!
@@evankilgore1199 what do you mean, were you in this crowd?
@@nevthepunk yup. I’m standing right in front of Jay. Brown shirt shirt hair. Was right next to the guy who kept stepping on his pedals and who he threatened to kick in the face. I plugged his pedals back in.
@@evankilgore1199 wow, that's so sick. seeing them up close must've been intense
Here is one of the best bands of the years 2000 to 2010. Thank you for remembering this. RIP Jay ❤
I always come back to this for my fix of “hammer i miss you” miss ya jay X
That energy! So much of it still remains (^:
I credit seeing this performance on Pitchfork with convincing me to go see him live about 6 months before he passed. Good looking out.
Also, that's the same bassist and drummer of early Wavves!
Stephen still plays bass with Wavves
10 years, RIP.
His songs are so short they leave you wanting more
the sound is perfection
There is no substitute for Jay
The synchronized head bangs during the chorus of My Shadow are awesome
need this whole set on cd or vinyl . its literally perfect.
Would have loved to see him live. Awesome show.
Amazing then and now…
I literally watch this set multiple times a day at this point
WOW! Very cool, just picked up Blood Visions on vinyl today. Can't wait to get home and turn it up LOUD!
I miss him so much man
they are tearing it up. so sad I just recently discovered this band after the frontman's death 8..(
I'd do everything to be at that place at that time. Best 20 minutes concert ever !
Jay will live on forever in the record. What an amazing talent he was
I've been watching this show ever since I discovered Jay in high school and it still gets me every time how fucking great this performance is.
I watched this like 100 times
Legendary. Missing you, Jay.
RIP dude I was 20 when he died I’m 35 now great musician
i feel like crap cuz i never saw him
weird seeing such a young Stephen Pope
what energy. RIP.
The drummer ran his most exhausting marathon ever, no time for breathing 🎉
This video makes me feel like I'm 16 again in the best possible way
NO STEREO IS LOUD ENOUGH FOR THIS SET
This feels like its is being played at 1.25x speed. THAT PACE
It is, they do it so they can play all songs in the same tempo. It's a good strategy to keep people dancing.
Adhd n addiction mate 🙏💗
utterly maniacal.
Those are some highly charged human batteries, making beautiful sounds. That was perfect.
Still here Jay....missing you.
I Know A Place is one of my favorite songs to this day
He would have been 44 this year...Forever young.
When i wake up and my neck isnt in pain, i look directly at the bassist to give me that pain anew
Can't believe its been about a decade since this was recorded...
Anybody else watch this like 2x a week?
Damn straight
I watch this like everyday since the beginning of january, help i have a problem
more like a solution!
+SpookyTurtles 1 !

Truly king
Sounds exactly like the record at 19:45
R.I.P. Jay... yr music lives on \„/
RIP jay, keep shredding
I miss you so much
Jewfro gang
My new favorite band
Blood Vision is already pretty short and that performance is even quicker
bad brains meets supergrass
Chuck Finn pretty accurate
Lmao dude!!
You nailed it!
I love his hair ):
Vash the stampeded legends have really goood hair.
Flawless Victory!!!
how could these people in the crowd not mosh to this?
Maybe they are taken aback by the raw power of that fine piece of live performance. I don't get it myself.
I’m the guy right next to Jay in the brown shirt. This venue was about 12 feet wide and 6 ft high. Moshing would have been incredibly awkward and not much fun. The night after this at Death By Audio was much moshier and equally fun.
Death is Forming cannot be played faster than the record, holy fck
"I don't feel too well"
The world lost a great one, such an exciting performance!
Omfg love you Jay R.I.P.
