You forgot the time Cowboys former coach Jason Garrett iced his kicker on a game winning field goal.
#buttfumble. The moment it happened I was confused but the replay made me lol.
The"Miracle at the Meadowlands" also cost the offensive coordinator his job, because he told them to run the play. In the words of JG9, "Welcome to Dumb Decisions".
The NFL Allowing Dan Snyder to Own the Washington R#######, I mean Commanders.
I knew the Butt Fumble was going to take top spot. Mark Sanchez became a living meme generator forever.
Nah buttpunt it better
Wilson passing instead of running should've been number 1. Sherman's reaction is still a meme I use to.this day
He’s completely revitalized his career tho he’s one of the best NFL analysts he’s so good
How about a "**spoiler alert**", you jerk! 😃
@@maxton-_-4243 Dan Orlovsky had a similar trajectory. Known for one infamous play in 2008 and now he's a great college football analyst for ESPN
Patriots vs Raiders 2022 needs to be on here. Man, that play was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
I live in Detroit. Orlovsky running out of the end zone is a microcosm of the Detroit Lions for the last several decades. The Colts vs Patriots trick play saved University of Michigan's punter from having the worst play of the week when he turned the ball over on the last play to give Michigan State the win. I have never been so heartbroken over a football game before or since.
That was some of the hardest I ever laughed watching highlights when it first happened…it was his face on the sidelines that made it funnier
That Seahawks loss to the patriots in that superbowl has to be #1. That ruined the Seahawks. That was a dynasty in the making and just like that it was gone
If they gave the ball to Lynch, the Seahawks would win it. Period. So far to this day, they never recovered.
@@r-rod8116 💯💯💯
7:53 - I will always call this the “What in the world?” Play, because of the announcer’s reaction, which made me literally roll on the floor laughing when I first heard it.
It's so perfect lmfaoooo
I'll always think something was a fix in that Seattle New England game. You can't give 1 reason not to run the ball
Ego. Carroll was the former pats hc before bill. Dude wanted to probly to stick it to his old team
Facts
Lynch was no Beast in that situation (1-for-5 in from-the-1 during the regular season, stuffed on a crucial red zone 3rd-and-1 earlier in the 2nd half).
@@TPTGopher hush
I heard it was cause they didn't wanna give lynch the spotlight by giving him the winning touchdown since he was such a poor presence in media
Dak "14 seconds" needs to be on this list.
Find out that Pete Carroll did say to run the ball but Wilson told them in the huddle that they were expecting them to run the ball so he told them that they are going to throw the ball instead
Can this list be updated with Jakobi Meyers lateral against the Raiders this past weekend? 😂😂😂
Yes, please!
Jim Marshall's wrong way is my favorite all time sports blunders. One time I played ESPN NFL 2k5 on my Xbox, I was playing with a home team and I intentionally ran the wrong way to see if there's any reaction. It did. The crowd was booing loud and the commentary guy was saying these things.
He's going the wrong way!
Maybe he got hit too hard!
Give that guy a compass!
Get that controller away from the dog!
And as soon as I ran out to the own end zone, he said
He runs out and that's a Safety!
5:45
I don’t care what anyone says,
That Dan Orlovsky play is
FUNNY AS FUCK!!
Hahahhahahahahhahhhahahahahahahahahaha
That Seattle play was gut wrenching.
And Rigged
Watching now, but if not handing it to Beast Mode on the 1 yard line to win a Superbowl isn't 1, then this list is bs.
Okay..wtf? That is #10? This literally lost them a superbowl, not a reg season game, loss of a touchdown that they got on the next play, or even a playoff game, but the SUPERBOWL! And not even a play in the superbowl but THE play that lost them the superbowl. Stakes matter.
@@tracyduchienjr5945 i think WM is sucking so much to the Old England Cheatriots
That Sb Was rigged Asf
Nah, ran could have got stopped. Plus it could have not been a pick.
Boom number 10 😂😂😂
5:45 ‘…of the World’😂😂😂
As a Colts fan, that fake punt should be beyond even the scope of this list -- it deserves a video all on its own for its sheer WTFery. Every other play on this list just sort of happened in the heat of the moment -- this monstrosity was actually PLANNED.
I think the Cowboys beat you last year with their last play of the season/postseason 😂
More honorable mentions:
1. New England Patriots not punting on 4th and 2 against the Indianapolis Colts. They were on their own side of the field.
2. Vontaze Burfict illegal hit on Antonio Brown costing Cincinnati the game against Pittsburgh.
3. Kyle Turley helmet throw drawing a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and giving the Rams the win.
Some people think vontez burfict actually ended brown's career with that hit. He seemingly went mentally off the rails after that hit
Leon lett could've been on here twice 🤣
The Butt Fumble...#1 blunder of all time. Nuff said 🤣
Number 1: Giving Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes 2 Minutes in the 4th Quarter
Buffalo not squibbing the final kickoff in regulation in last year’s Divisional round. It gave Mahomes literally enough time to get to the edge of Butker’s range to send it to OT and Buffalo never got the ball.
Number 9 is the reason Romo is called a choker by NFL fans, that one play haunts his entire career. Like the old saying goes: you can always forgive but you can never forget; so yeah Dallas, let it go.
P.S. the Thanksgiving game was the last game the Dolphins won that season. They were 9-2 and were set on going to the playoffs, unfortunately they lost them all; ended the season with 9-7. I think that was Don Shula's final season as coach.
I'd put Tommy Kelly losing his pants as a hilarious moment
Of course, number 1 is the butt fumble! It's also the funniest mistake (as long as you aren't a Jets fan.)! The butt fumble is what Mark Sanchez is remembered for in his NFL career.
Rams vs. Saints. The kickoff where nobody knew the ball was alive except a Rams player who ran it for a touchdown.
How can you decide to not hand it off to Beast Mode from 2yards out?!?! It’s just beyond me.. it baffles me so hard every time i see that clip 😂
Another Dumb Decision for JG9.
The biggest mistake is the Bottlegate scandal, and why there has not been a countdown of officiating disgraces is beyond me.
Wasn't that the game where the 4th down play was ruled a catch, they start running the next play, only for the refs to blow it dead for a review, they review it, the call on the previous play gets overturned, resulting in a turnover on downs? And all this took place AFTER the ball was snapped on the current play, which should have automatically closed the window on reviewing the previous play, according to the rule book. All of those officials in that game should have been FIRED after that game, which ended with fans throwing beer bottles onto the field.
The 1 yard line INT should be number one
The sad part is that the butt fumble wasn't a mistake, it just something that happened just this time it was caused by a butt. And Romo's wasn't a mistake he just missed the snap, it happens all the time this was just a playoff game. If he would've saved that play, which he almost did, that would be a top 10 play
The Vikings signing Kirk Cousins should be on here
I think Redskins quarterback Gus Frerotte knocking himself out of the game by slamming headfirst into the wall while in celebration of a touchdown run should have gotten an honorable mention
That pass in super bowl 49(greatest super bowl so far imo) should be number 1..it really is a trip how much one moment can change everything cuz if they chose to run it and won that game practically all their careers would almost certainly be in better places than they are
The Butt Fumble May Be The Funniest, But Dammit The Russell Wilson Pass Is BY FAR The Dumbest Play Ever!
Anytime I hear about a football blunder, Leon Lett always comes to mind.
No. 9 can’t completely be blamed on Romo. They put in a new ball, a still slick new ball, which made the possibility of a fumble THAT much higher. And I’m not a Cowgirls’ fan, either. Truth be told, I wanted them to win so that we could’ve beaten them in the Super Bowl again.
proud to say I saw almost all of these live on tv lmao
Russell Wilson at 10? That cost them a Super Bowl!
So we are going to glance over the fact that they called Malcom Butler a quarterback 😂😂😂
Nah. He said CORNERBACK.
@@Destinychanged thank you 😊
This is the 1st time watchmojo did a top 10 list on the NFL
As a constantly disappointed and irritated JETS fan, the butt fumble is up there with falling for Miami's fake spike. But I believe #1 has to be the fumble recovery running the wrong direction for an opponent touchdown!
Top 3 (In my opinion):
1. The Butt Fumble
2. Jim Marshall runs the wrong way
3. The Colts' Fake Punt
These were the dumbest mistakes in NFL. I wasn't sure about putting the butt fumble at first because the other two were more stupid and obvious of how dumb they are, but apparently everyone has been talking about, and also that it is pure comedy and the fact it became a meme, so in some stages, I'll allow as the Top 3, the same as you guys.
Whoops. Jamaal Charles fumbled and Denver ran it back for a walk off touchdown. When Tom forgot it was 4th down.
The first one is a lot iffier than people like to think. People who understand this stuff a lot better than the average layperson have actually broken down that play and said that the call was probably correct, they just got unlucky. (Maybe the most significant thing is, Lynch didn't actually have a great record on goal-line runs. If you're *not* working from the assumption that "Lynch would totally have gotten it" -- because based on his own history, that's far from a certainty -- that really starts to change the calculus. Then you add in time and personnel factors, and, well, maybe it's not so stupid after all when you really look at the full picture.)
My personal litmus test is, if it had worked, would be all be going, WOW, that was a gutsy call that worked out, or would it just be a "normal" game-winning play? If it wouldn't be considered risky if had succeeded, it doesn't become risky or a bad call just because it failed. In this case, I have a hard time imagining that everyone would've marveled over them making the "risky" choice to throw if that play had resulted in a TD, so...
Nice list.
Way to go watchmojo
When your play call has even the broadcasters confused, you know you've messed up big time.
The entire 4th quarter of Super Bowl LI should have been on this list.
Romo makes a mistake that lost them a superbowl chance. Couple years later, he is the starting qb. Things can change in an instant
Sussel Wilson was the reason all the great player Seattle had, left the team after he threw away the Super Bowl over the middle. I’m glad as hell we got rid of him to Denver. Just look at the standings between the two. Denver is 4:6 and Seattle is 6:4 going into week 11.
Jackson’s Miracle at the Meadowlands 2.0 almost ended up being his 2nd appearance on this list. Oh man if he would’ve got tackled at the 1 while running sideways to celebrate before getting in. Or better yet if there would’ve been a flag on the play bc of a hold or block in the back before he crossed the end zone.
Detroit's coach Marty Morhinweg winning the OT coin toss against the Bears then picking to kick instead of receiving the ball "because of the heavy wind" should have been included here...and...oh yeah the Lions obviously lost the game
Number 1 is so bad that it was undefeated on the not so top 10 plays on ESPN till they had to retire it
Before I even clicked on this video, I was saying to myself "Super Bowl XLIX has got to be on here". I was 13 and even I saw thow that play was bad. When you have a guy nicknamed "Beast Mode" who has a reputation for charging, *use him* .
⤴️⤴️⤴️let's talk thanks for watching and leaving a comment, you won a prize🎊🎊🎊
The Seahawks not running the ball in the Super Bowl when they had Marshawn "Beast quake" Lynch and TWO attempts to get 1 yard should be #1. It literally cost them a championship. Every other entry on this list didn't have nearly as bad as a consequence.
*not beast quake. I meant "Beast mode"
I agree. That was one of the best games I've seen. But that mistake was very painful. Had they gave Marshawn Lynch the ball, Seahawks would win it and maybe they would have a dynasty run. But no. The Seahawks wasn't the same since.
Russ throwing it is way too low 😂😂
This season also had the “butt punt” which wound up turning into a safety since the ball went out the back of the end zone.
It’s funny tony corrente was the ref for most of these. He was my high school history teacher and everyone always said he was a controversial ref
LEON LETT IN THE SUPER BOWL IS MORE ABOUT DON BEEBE NOT QUITTING ON THE PLAY DESPITE THE BILLS ALREADY BEING BOAT RACED IN THE GAME.
I wonder why mistakes which didn't lose the game are higher than Superbowl lost or game lost
The bright spot for Browns fans: their team did not make the list, only an honorable mention.
Another one that should’ve been added was the 2002 NFL week one season opener between the Chiefs and Browns….Dwayne Rudd of the browns throws his helmet near the end of the game and the browns lost the game…..
I saw that game back then. I was mad as hell when he took his helmet off and throwing it thinking that the game is over.
@@r-rod8116 me too….I’m thinking Dwayne Rudd….Red Foxx voice:you big dummy….dont take your helmet off until the final buzzer of the game….smh…
That Colts fake Punt was worst play I've ever seen.
Mistakes?
The two helmet-to-helmet hits by Jaguars safety Andre Cisco during the Chiefs should have warranted immediate rejection.
First helmet-to-helmet hit by Cisco against Juju Shuster ended up with Juju getting knocked out.
The bad thing is referees simply picked up the flags and never penalized Cisco.
The following week, he then was fined a measly $6k!
Today’s the 50th anniversary of Garo’s Gaffe.
YOOOO I LITERALLY REMEMBER THAT SEATTLE GAME BRO. i bet on it for the first time ever in my life. I talked so much shxt. I watched it w my gf just to watch the patriots lose. And they did that shxt I was soooooooooo tight bro wow what a flashback
I am a seahawks fan I agree with number 10.
Wilson passing should've been number 1.
We want the ball, we're gonna score! Come on hasselback throwing the pick 6 in OT against the Packers has to be on this list.
I hope Jim Marshall makes the list!
NFL's decision to ignore CTE in retired players should be the stupidest decision, albeit off the field.
I'm sorry, but that Seahawks play in the Superbowl against the Patriots is hands down the dumbest ever.
3:25 Jessica Simpson smiles evilly.. ....
Happy 10th anniversary to the Butt Fumble
Surprised Dee Ford's toe being offsides causing the KC Chiefs to lose the AFC championship
Years later, Jimmy Garoppolo did the same thing that Orlovsky did
Number 1: the Broncos signing Wilson for a five-year, 165 million dollars guaranteed contract xD
Broncos country, let’s cry!
And why did Herm Edwards return the ball for a touchdown?
Because... you play... to win... the game!
The Russell Wilson mistake should be number 1. It cost his team a super bowl
How is it that making the absolute wrong call in a super bowl game is number 10?! Lol. It's the only one on the list that more than likely actually decided a super bowl. Lol
Top Ten or Twenty Funniest Touchdown Celebrations in NFL History.
Falcons blowing a 3-1 lead in the Super Bowl
I’m sure number 1 will have to do either with the Jets or Lions.
Where’s the Giants QB sneak on 3rd and 9 at their own 4 yard line?
Jim Marshall should’ve been number 1. It doesn’t get more embarrassing then that
Was there really snow in the Thanksgiving game against the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins?
Number 10 should have been number 1.... Still the dumbest call of all-time 😂
THE LACES WERE IN! THEY WERE IN!
I think in my book the Miracle in the Meadowlands should be #1.
Can't blame Romo for a bad snap.
You gotta be joking, #10???? It cost them the superbowl, no moment on this list is worst than that.
Ain't no way the Seahawks should be #10. That's the #1 dumbest play of all time
Whenever I see the clip of Tony Romo fumbling to snap I always think to myself. Why is your starting quarterback holding the ball to begin with?
The Tony Romo one ain’t completely his fault he went from 2nd string to 1st string QB that year, they should of replaced him with someone else to hold the ball for the kick, Cowboys fault!!!
For my fellow NYers the butt fumble “OHHH THE PAIN”
At least Orlovsky was free of doing that after Jimmy G did the exact same thing
Never celebrate too early it’ll cost you
I’m growing up too fast. Why does 2008 footage look like 1990 footage?
How’s missing beast mode number 10? Tragic lol
I'm shocked Jim Marshall's safety didn't make #1 on this list.
That’s because it didn’t cost his team the game.
Most memorable moment in a HOF career.
Looking at Tony Romo's mishandled snap, do you think it was a mental mistake or pressure from the playoffs?
7:17 lmfao hahaha no such thing as a victory formation then, this play and herm edwards we're the reason the knee was added to the game
My patriots did well here 😅
Say what you want about Joe Buck but he's one of the better Play by play guys.
