1991: Atlanta Falcons vs Washington Redskins Remastered NFL Highlights

  • Jerry Glanville sauntered into town with his new-attitude ’91 Atlanta Falcons in their new-look all-black unis, brimming with swagger and ready to give the 9-0 Redskins a fight. Glanville’s Falcons landed few punches on this day, and instead spent most of the afternoon being extras in a Mark Rypien highlight reel. Rypien and the Redskins’ offense rolled the Falcons in a game so lopsided, three of the Redskins’ seven offensive touchdowns were scored despite Atlanta committing penalties on those same plays. Ryp had a red-letter day - 442 yards and six touchdown passes (to Monk (2), Clark (3) and Terry Orr (1)), plus a rushing touchdown to cap off a seven-touchdown joyride.
As for the eighth Redskins touchdown of the day? You’ll have to ask Brett Favre about that!
Not even His Royal Smugness Randy Cross could spoil this perfect day at RFK.
Remastered from VHS to digital with apologies for the sound issues (did my best to remove some serious hiss-noise on the original recording). Also had to contend with late game rain, which always makes digital clean-up a bit more of a chore - all worth it to bring our RetroSkins Community this vintage Redskins gem!

I wasn't there in fact I couldn't even watch the game. I was with my cousins and aunt touring the Capitol Building that day. It was miserable outside. I got back too late to catch any part of the game. Hell I didn't even get to see any of the highlights until years later when people finally put this up on RUclips.

I've been a Redskins fan practically my whole life and seeing these highlights from the glory days, I sadly wasn't alive for, is amazing.
I wish that the Commanders understood why this name means so much to us fans.
In my lifetime I've only seen the Redskins win 1 playoff game back in 2005.
I hope and pray they change the name back to Redskins, as remote a possibility as that is, because the name, the logo, and the history mean a lot to the fans.
Thank you for posting these videos!

I grew up in DC, a diehard REDSKINS FAN and remember ALL 4 Super Bowl victories (and the devastating loss to the Raiders in 1984). The Glory days were THOSE...GLORY!
I had the chance to meet several of the players from the 1991 Championship Team. Charles Mann signed my REDSKINS shoes at a free promo at a Modell's store in DC.

The Redskins just went out and had everything clicking. Deion was hurt, Chris Miller was hurt. They were going with a backup and the Redskins teed off. The secondary were using backups so Rypien had a field day. Everything clicked that day. Sadly for 7 year old me, I didn't see the game. My family and my cousin's family went to the Capitol Building that day. We toured it and the only thing I saw was about 10 seconds of the game from the security check in and out that was on the little personal grey TV. I didn't get to see game footage until people uploaded the game on RUclips years later.

We have some requests if you can access these items: NFL 75th anniv. VHS tape of greatest moments in Redskins history sold at Safeway stores originally; Redskins 75th anniv. DVD narrated by Bernard Shaw offered free w/purchase at Burger King (sometime around 2007); in addition would like to know so any movie theater newsreels from late '30s to 1960s contain features of Redskins at Occidental College training camp or 1960s-1970s TV news clips of welcome home luncheons or other off-field community TV news footage of Redskins at charity events from past decades??? Will be patiently waiting for future RetroSkins uploads. Thanks a million!!!

How did they do 14-2, to 9-7, to 4-12, 3-13 (Norv Turner was supposed to save this team). JKC died and let Dan Snyder buy it. He allowed it. Rather than letting Ralph and John to inherit his franchise, he allowed Montana Max to come in and destroy this team and change the name. JKC is responsible:
