I have a comment/question.. I feel like my biggest issue is the layer of fat I have over my abs. it bunches up and looks like doming in the center of my stomach when I crunch/do ab workouts.. when I check for a gap i don’t really feel one, maybe this is because of the fat layer?

So sorry I never saw this, but if you're struggling to tell if you're doming try really focusing on how the tissue feels when laying vs when lifting head. Does it feel almost trampoline like or do your fingers sink deep? Also, when your head is up feel outside of your rectus abs to see if you are engaged. if your rectus is engaged and you're really squishy to each side this will help you know if you're recruiting your deep core or not so you'll get a little info there. It's tough to help a ton determining DR if I cant see! If you are doming/coning it would be down the center vertically! The goal in the end with DR or not is to correctly recruit the deep core -pelvic floor pulls together and lifts straight into a wrapping of the Transverse abs- when those transverse abs are turned on you can feel them to the side of the rectus closer to the hip bone. Sorry if this got a little wordy!
