it is just strengthening and/or stretching. Through a series of tests, a PT can determine which muscle is weak or tight. A lot of times people have weak glutes or hamstrings in these videos. It actually isn't that complicated.

Dr please do a video on fascia restrictions, back side of my legs catch fire with glute work even simple things like glue bridges and clamshells wreak havoc on me
I had this badly when I was a kid and constantly sitting in a “W” position, which is still more comfortable for me now even as an adult. Now I’m 22 dealing with moderate hip pain, I’m going to start implementing these because I can see how my knees actually bias inward.
Just did the Banded Joint Mobilization. ONE TIME and I feel so much relief in my right hip. I know its will take some more time to completely relieve my pain but I've had this pain for years and this is the most relief I've had. Thank you thank you. First time in a while I could do a completely low squat without regretting it afterwards lol 😭
Saw the video where you explain the pinching when you pull you knee to your chest first and you said this was a good excerise. Which it my biggest problem. The pinching is the biggest indicator that something is not sitting right in my hip. So thank you again.
Do banded distractions cause permanent changes in joint mobility? If so, how, what’s the mechanism - Is exercising them with their new positioning the key?
My understanding (based off of assumptions) was that the ligaments and stuff between the ball and socket are thick and so are hard to make mobility progress with and will stop effective stretching of other areas. The band adds constant pressure so that you can perform stretches on the other areas more effectively - they aren’t being hampered by the hip cartilage. But I don’t think it does much long term to the hip cartilage itself just by using a band. Would like to know what I got right and wrong if there’s someone who actually knows what they’re talking about out there?
This shit is worth billions of dollars. If you could Sell Medicine that did this you would be RICH. You are a saint for sharing this knowledge with the entire world for free.
The banded pigeon stretch. Yeah that finds new things after a looooong day of mountain hunting. 😂Showed my buddy the un banded version after and he was asking why hes never heard of it.
i literally didn’t know i had a stiff hip until i sat and compared both hips mobility, did this and immediately improved. definitely a must for my legs warm up now ❤
I need to try this, my right hip has much les external rotation and it's making pains in my left hip as it overcompensates. Thanks for showing this exercise 🙏🏻
How about just do a pigeon? It’s from yoga. Will do the same thing. Does wonders for me. There’s lots of variations and twists and turns on it as well and you can listen to your body and do what it needs.
I didn't realise how import felixible hips are for squats and deadlifts start of 2022 i started deadlifting and squatting beginning weights and progressed squats to 180kg deadlift to 200kg but along the journey something didnt feel right i noticed something changing it was my tight hips and lower back my coach and physio said it was because of neglect ing and not doing stretches and cardio on my training days it was until the start of this year 2023 my form began breaking down do to tight hips and lower back = poor form which ended injurying myself I had 3 bulging disc before starting squats and deadlifts l3 l4 l5 which ended pinging on my nerves that crippled me i could not stand for long or walk long i had to stop work. I paid to see a sports physiotherapist and they pinpointed my issues just like the man in this video i could not sit with legs crossed pain an tight the physio then made me preform these stretches similar to these ones and slowly my hamstrings hips lower back with each stretching session 3 times per week. Its been 10 months now and i have restored my mobility and do 30 mins of walking 4-3 times a week I lost most of my strength and probably cannot do my pr again with squats and deadlifts but i now do rdls and tempo squats with low weight and feel so much better im trading strength and muscle size for athletism and functional fitness.
Hello Squat University, Do you get patients whose feet and legs go numb when they sit in cross legged posture? Do you have any ways to resolve this problem?
Hi..i have a question here. After a long hours of sitting cross-leg (on the floor). My leg feels numb. What caused the numbness, and how to overcome it? I saw one local guy ( around his 70s) can seat far longer time without any numbness. I remember he can seat tight with both of his knee flat on the ground. Is the numbness related to hip flexor tightness? How about pigeon pose exercise? Will it help?
Had this exact thing yesterday. I’ve not been able to sit cross legged for 15 years since a hip operation. Did this exact stretch with the band before squats and felt like a new man. Did notice some knee cave so might have to hop on the abductor machine or get myself one of those small bands
Do you have any videos to help someone with ankylosing spondylitis? My husband has it and already has fusion in his lower spine and neck, and has already had one hip replacement, and the other hip isn’t doing great, but he wants to try and stay as mobile as possible
Does anyone know why your hips click when doing something like leg raises for ab workouts? It absolutely sucks and if anyone knows specific workouts or stretches that prevents hip clicking, that would be awesome
So what causes this? Because ive always been naturally flexible and could do the splits and my feet behind my head. But past 20yrs i cant even open them to get on a bike! Is it sleeping, standing, sitting wrong ways? I want it to stop so i dont have to get up and stretch during a movie/sleeping.
This me. I can't pass the Faber test on my left leg. My right leg will spin 360 degrees but left won't even come up for enough for me to be able to put my sock on and I put my shoe on floor to start it then grab the back to finish feeding onto my foot.
This man is some kind of wizard
Yes he is the only one who has this kind of sorcery

long limbed people problems. im 5’7 but all leg stg 🤣
I'm short as they come, and I struggle with this, too. I wonder if it's because I wish to be taller.🤔
Im 5"6 and have this exact issue lol
As a 6'2" guy who can sit in lotus I can assure you it's not.
It's not a height issue. It's a mobilization and muscular flexibility issue. He just never stretched.

That's common among improperly trained running/jumping athletes, like those who mostly play on the blacktop growing up.

What about external rotation being at 180 and youre having pain where to fix it you have to turn in the hip? Like with dancers.
