  • The 69S shattered the world 24 hour record in 1961 and it took 11 years before Kawasaki’s new Z1 raised it on the Daytona banking, and even then only by 0.5mph. The 69S is considered one of the best classic (or vintage of you’re watching from America) motorcycles of all time. Fast and reliable, it remains a cut above virtually all of the opposition from the period.

    I had an r80, my best road bike, by far. they'gotten grossly fat since then, maybe to appeal to the harley market..
    looking back, they probably had it right with the r69s.

    I owned a 1965 and a 1968 R69s.
    The motor on yours does not look like an S motor.
    Oh, and I also owned a very rare R69US.

      @@paulmiles I do not see the "bulge" at the lower front of the motor where the harmonic balancer resides.
      Were they not used in 1962 ?

    • @paulmiles
      @paulmiles  3 месяца назад

      No, they didn’t appear until 1963 second half , so realistically 1964 onwards.

      @@paulmiles Thanks. My 65 and 68 and my 69 R69US have the balancer.
