I've been listening to Metheny since "Watercolors" and your cover of First Circle is just incredible. So impressive that one person could put this piece together given how good of player one has to be on so many instruments, not to mention voice. "Loneliness" as the prior person says, is a requirement for any serious musician (which I am not), but most don't call it that - they call it "fun"... :>
Many people do covers on RUclips, with varying degrees of success and skill. This version of Pat Metheny's "First Circle" not only nails the original in its skill and accuracy, but even surpasses some of the arrangement and instrumentation elements. This is a very impressive effort indeed.
For many years, "The First Circle" has been my favorite song. It's been covered many times by many musicians. Bob Curnow's big band arrangement felt like the most worthy cover to date, and added a totally different angle to the song. And then I heard this. You truly understand this song. The emphasis is all in the right places, and the passion behind the instrumentation is real. Well done. Many thanks.

Probably the most talented multi instrumentalist i have ever seen since Pedro Aznar in terms of being a very gifted musician who can play a lot of different instruments and play them really well but for me i feel he is at his absolute best on the piano & keyboards. Giulio's contributions to the Kin (←→) recording were a breath of fresh air and he really helped capture the sound & feel of PMG at their peak. When i saw the Pat Metheny Unity Group play in London 3 years ago, the highlight of the show for me was seeing Carmassi and Metheny playing an unplugged version of PMG's 'Dream of the return' as a duet, it was truly a magical moment. I really hope it's not the last time we see Carmassi and Metheny play together & we get to see more from them in the future.
The genius of Pat Metheny has an everlasting affect on VERY many people, you are a true example of sheer genius as well ….. THANK YOU, and keep at it !!!! 😘
Saw you with Metheny in Vancouver last night. What a show! I have not been that blown away by a performance in years. Being able to see not only stuff Unity Band, but the Group (Orchestrion stuff) and a couple PMG tunes as well was just so special. I played this song in high school in 1996/97. These beats are tattooed into my head as is the live Pat Metheny version. I have to say that this is insanely impressive. I am actually upset I’m just finding this now. Great job and your mastery of all the instruments and voice (and falsetto) is amazing. I can’t wait to forward this to some old band friends.

This is insane! Performing all the parts including vocals of this masterpiece (one of my top favorite songs ever) and even allowing improvising , not forgetting the production and engineering .... it’s just crazy how talented and versatile you are.... amazing work!
I'm absolutely gobsmacked! This sounds as good as the original, with just a few omissions (Pat's furious rhythm strumming) and a couple of added surprises. I'll be looking for everything GC has done now. Though I have it on good authority that he's a novice at singing on stage. I only wish he had been more audible during the PMUG's two concerts in Colorado last week. This was a problem during Lyle's long tenure, too. The instrumentalists at the back of the stage worked so hard on so many instruments, but what you heard out in the seats was guitar, drums and, now, horns. Only on his performance of "Dream of the Return" could I hear GC's piano at all. The audience around me was sighing audibly at the end, before the applause began. The second coming of Pedro Aznar! At that point, I could have given the rest of the band the night off and enjoyed just Pat and Giulio in duets.

_First Circle_ was the first Metheny song I ever heard. I was introduced in the early 80's. To this day, Pat Metheny continues to be one of my favorite artists, and this remains one of my favorite songs. Your cover is brilliant!
