As it would here to : Let's zoom in where we can see a tall stilted silvery skyscraper and two men in a glass tube being whisked upward and then like it was nothing they pop out onto the rooftop parking. And we can see (and hear) a Mr. Cosmo Spacely, Sole owner of the Building & Business of Spacely's Sprockets (Manufacturing & Sales of The Worlds Best Sprockets.) berating his head button pusher and most loyal employee a Mr. George Jetson who had just asked for a raise. In a most obnoxious tone Mr. Spacely goes on and on about the importance of performance and efficiency, Stating "Jetson, As your boss I'm obligated to tell you that in order to get a raise, you've got to improve your numbers, You gotta look the part, You gotta be the best and buy the best, ([pompous blah, blah, and more pompous blah blah) like me!" and all that poor George can get in edge wise is a "Yes Sir Mr. Spacely..." as they both walk to the Jetway Platform where both are parked side by side. Mr. Spacely remarks to George about his shiny new baby as the dome opens with it's lights flashing and a woman voice greets him by name "See Jetson! The Best, I got the top of the line here!" And George answers "Yes Sir, Good Night Sir." the dome closes on George and it starts up.. Zzzzzzzzapppppita! The sound causes Mr. Spacely to bite his cigar in half and fill his pants with some "Spacely Sprocket S**T!" as George zooms away laughing. Sorry Oli, I just couldn't help myself.

Watching a Tesla coil never gets old...
It's nice to see a SSTC without a breakout point. It's one of the reasons why I like SGTCs better. Music coolness aside, the fluid motion of the sparks on old school Tesla Coils still beat out the ugly and angry sparks off a SSTC. Impressive to see one so large though!

But I think that with a breakout point, the true power of this thing would have been clearer to see.
At 0:42 seconds the ribbon holding one of the hydrogen-filled balloons is ignited by a streamer, and a few seconds later, the balloon explodes. This seems to trigger a large lightning-like streamer to ground that has a dramatic effect on the operation of the coil. It must be that the small shock wave from the explosion has altered the "space charge" region surrounding the coil enough to precipitate this lightning event. This suggests that lightning might be triggered by sound shock waves. This would explain why in a thunderstorm one often sees lightning cascades, where one strike leads to others nearby in rapid succession. The lightning strike that disabled the electrical systems in Apollo 12 at launch thus could have been triggered by the sound shock from the F1 engines in the 1st stage. This really needs to be investigated!
Actually, the explosion simply blew the streamer into the secondary. The output of this tesla coil is much different from lightning, lightning is static electricity while this is alternating radio frequency. It got brighter due to it not only grounding out, but grounding out on the surface of an object.
Stop. Basic level physics at uni teachs you how lightning work, and it's quite simple.
