Pedro Pascal has played a lot of memorable characters in some really great shows like Narcos and Mandalorian......this one might be his most memorable🤐

They were never able to buy one off anyone because of how treasured they are. Melting down the Stark family's Valyrian sword is a really satisfying moment for Tywin

Michael Huisman does a good job as Daario, I think he'll grow on you. It's jarring because he's SO different from Ed Skrein, but I like Huisman's dashing rogue Daario.
He doesn't do a great job of Daario, but he does a good job of the character the showrunners turned Daario into. Nothing like the book character though
I didn't like him initially because I really liked the first one and they're SO different. But now rewatching the show, I appreciate him for what he is.
The cold open is so good. We see the Blacksmith forging the two swords from Ned's sword Ice as the slow, mournful Stark theme plays, which picks up pace and rapidly transforms into the Lannister theme as it cuts to Tywin sinisterly putting a symbolic nail on the Stark coffin by throwing the wolf carcass into the fire. Jaime is probably the only man in Westeros who can say no to Tywin's face and live to tell the tale. The favorite son. Very different vibes from Tyrion's talk with Tywin at the start of last season. Btw that Tyrion Sansa scene where Tyrion's begging her to eat and Sansa's describing how her family was killed always gets me. My father who served in the military, and is left handed He was trained to use a firearm with his right hand and cannot do such with as much precision with his dominant left hand In sword fighting, this plays a much more vital role. It would matter greatly realistically. I'm not saying this to get on your case, but provide context and insight. That said, you can learn with another hand, but its a whole new experience. If you watch stunt actors who are proficient with sword play, you will learn that in medieval times most learnt to wield a one hand sword and a shield on the off hand. Wielding a sword in both hands, no shield leaves one somewhat defenseless especially if there are ranged attackers farther away. So you are right in that learning to write is different but bare in mind, not so long ago, indeed when I was a child, left handers were forced to learn to write with their right hands and as a result very many for the rest of their lives couldn't right with a decent script.

Give it a little time, this Daario will grow on you. Trust me this Daario is better. That one looked like a knockoff Conan the Barbarian. This dude actually look like someone from that part of the world. He's got that slick cunning type of a charm. He'll grow on you just give it time.

I did some fencing once . If you are right handed, you are trained to use your right hand. Left handed person are trained to use the left hand.Even the weapons and protecting gear are different. I guess it is extremely dificult to train someone to be good both left or right handend.
Maya you are exactly correct. People should train to fight with both hands. Military and police both make opposite hand marksmanship part of their firearms certification tests. And the only reason it is required is exactly what Jaime is going through. Something disabling your strong hand.

So self defence, martial arts instructor here. You 100 percent need to train with both hands. I even had to train shooting with my non dominant hand yesterday. You won't be as good as your dominant hand for sure, but you won't be useless by any means. Plus if it becomes your only hand you will become good with it.
I never thought about it before but, yeah, Jaime should have learned to use his left hand. Although, some styles use the off hand for auxiliary movement, i.e. holding a shield, using a light weapon; axes, daggers: if you recall Jaime killed Jory in season one with a dagger to the brain using his left hand. It's not that he can't use his left hand, it's moreso the non-dominant hand is oft times relegated to secondary/utility duty I'm order for the fighter to maximize direction and ability in the main hand.

Well, you kind of want to see how Jaime and Cersei's reunion goes. He looks different. He is different. He's not the great swordsman anymore (he could be again). And Cersei has, if anything, gotten harder since he's been gone to war. I wish we would have gotten Jaime's and Brienne's reactions to learning about the Red Wedding, though, which I think they did on the way to King's Landing in the book.

I almost forgot about Unqualified Nerd! Two grown up sisters, Melissa had seen GoT several times and introduced her younger sister Kathryn to the show. They always discussed the episodes in depth and their reactions were genuine and quite emotional too. The early episodes aren't the best quality but they got better equipment after a while! 🙏🏼

This is honestly one of the shoddiest recastings of all time. Even if you’re forced to recast (which they were) you don’t get to just change your mind about the entire character design/aesthetic after half a season. It was so fucking jarring.

This is Game of Thrones. You're allowed (and almost have to) set aside your real-world morality watching it. The good guys aren't all that good. You're allowed to be invested in, say Daenerys and Drogo, despite how it began and despite the sort of things Drogo was doing on a regular basis. You're allowed to cheer for relationships even if the people in them are bad and the relationship itself is incest. This is just fantasy and so the real-world rules don't have to apply.

If you watch stunt actors who are proficient with sword play, you will learn that in medieval times most learnt to wield a one hand sword and a shield on the off hand. Wielding a sword in both hands, no shield leaves one somewhat defenseless especially if there are ranged attackers farther away. So you are right in that learning to write is different but bare in mind, not so long ago, indeed when I was a child, left handers were forced to learn to write with their right hands and as a result very many for the rest of their lives couldn't right with a decent script.

Give it a little time, this Daario will grow on you. Trust me this Daario is better. That one looked like a knockoff Conan the Barbarian. This dude actually look like someone from that part of the world. He's got that slick cunning type of a charm. He'll grow on you just give it time.

They did more than just recast Daario. They basically reimagined the whole character. It's jarring, but you'll get use to him.
I always prefer the first Daario, the other actor looks enterily a different person, not just from the look. His behavior totally change.
S4 is my favourite, after that there are still good, spectacular episodes....you shall remain hooked.
They recast Daario, because Ed Skrein who played him last season, was off filming the first Deadpool movie this season, he's the villain, Ajax
Tbh, I prefer this guy, he actually looks like a Daario, Ed Skrein is great, but his accent is a little too London East End, nothing wrong with that usually, but for this character it doesn't feel right, lol...he was great in Ill Manors
Oberyn is a wild boy lol. But I'm 5 seasons in and although his stint was short lived he is absolutely my favorite character and Martell my favorite House.

I did some fencing once . If you are right handed, you are trained to use your right hand. Left handed person are trained to use the left hand.Even the weapons and protecting gear are different. I guess it is extremely dificult to train someone to be good both left or right handend.
Maya you are exactly correct. People should train to fight with both hands. Military and police both make opposite hand marksmanship part of their firearms certification tests. And the only reason it is required is exactly what Jaime is going through. Something disabling your strong hand.

So self defence, martial arts instructor here. You 100 percent need to train with both hands. I even had to train shooting with my non dominant hand yesterday. You won't be as good as your dominant hand for sure, but you won't be useless by any means. Plus if it becomes your only hand you will become good with it.
I never thought about it before but, yeah, Jaime should have learned to use his left hand. Although, some styles use the off hand for auxiliary movement, i.e. holding a shield, using a light weapon; axes, daggers: if you recall Jaime killed Jory in season one with a dagger to the brain using his left hand. It's not that he can't use his left hand, it's moreso the non-dominant hand is oft times relegated to secondary/utility duty I'm order for the fighter to maximize direction and ability in the main hand.

@@lkf8799 Those choices were theirs, and theirs alone. Bran was an innocent child, climbing a tower in his own home. Not to spy, or see something traumatizing. I personally have forgiven Jaime, just saying no one forced them to commit crimes against their king, and Cersei’s husband. 🙄
I haven't seen "The Last of Us" yet, but I remember when people were fancasting for it years ago and they fancast Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime) and Maisie Williams (Arya). It's funny it ended up being two other "Game of Thrones" actors instead.

No, you box with both hands, but most people use a baseball bat, golf club, shoot a pistol, etc, with their dominant hand and don't switch hit. Some people can and do, but most don't because ambidexterity isn't natural to most people, regardless of how much you train.

As for fighting with two hands, there are few who can use 2 swords at once. Jaime used both hands as he used a knife in his left like in the battle with Neds men in season 1.

Well, you kind of want to see how Jaime and Cersei's reunion goes. He looks different. He is different. He's not the great swordsman anymore (he could be again). And Cersei has, if anything, gotten harder since he's been gone to war.
I wish we would have gotten Jaime's and Brienne's reactions to learning about the Red Wedding, though, which I think they did on the way to King's Landing in the book.

Neither of them resemble the Dario from the book but at least the original casting had a mystique and swagger that was more fitting, the recast just never hit the same tbh always felt forced to me

I almost forgot about Unqualified Nerd! Two grown up sisters, Melissa had seen GoT several times and introduced her younger sister Kathryn to the show. They always discussed the episodes in depth and their reactions were genuine and quite emotional too. The early episodes aren't the best quality but they got better equipment after a while! 🙏🏼

Jaime was probably trained to use both hands, but he was also dyslexic, so he probably has some reversal issues

Meanwhile Syrio tried to teach Arya to use one arm and, when she complained it was too heavy, told her she would get stronger. Arya is left-handed in the books and the actress, Maisie Williams learned to swordfight with her left despite being left-handed. (GRRM later said it would have been okay for Show Arya to be right-handed, but I think it's kind of cool.) When I took fencing, we picked a hand. Points can be made for various viewpoints for this.

People who know how to use instruments (like a guitar) or weapon well with both hands are always recognized as being gifted. It's not that easy or common. It takes a lot of very hard work to learn to use both if you're not ambidextrous. Most can learn to Survive using the less prominent hand. Don't let those smart-ass comments bother you.

It's a great trailer too, has a very eerie feel to it. Very fitting for the GOAT season.

This is honestly one of the shoddiest recastings of all time. Even if you’re forced to recast (which they were) you don’t get to just change your mind about the entire character design/aesthetic after half a season. It was so fucking jarring.
Considering that last season he looked nothing like the book version of Daario, I really don't mind the recast. At least this one has a beard (thankfully not blue 😅).

Oberyn Martell is the character I liked when i first saw
This is Game of Thrones. You're allowed (and almost have to) set aside your real-world morality watching it. The good guys aren't all that good. You're allowed to be invested in, say Daenerys and Drogo, despite how it began and despite the sort of things Drogo was doing on a regular basis. You're allowed to cheer for relationships even if the people in them are bad and the relationship itself is incest. This is just fantasy and so the real-world rules don't have to apply.
