Not sure about the tuning of the tom 1. I'm not a amateur of Evans, especially those drumheads. It does make the drum sound short and choked, when I prefer the ring of a snare and nice tone for toms, which mean a tuning not too low like this one, sound like someone hitting bass drum with sticks. With that being said, a big production is always going to make you look better, but since I'm discovering this drummer today, I'm sure he is playing drums very well on any drums, no matter what the tuning is and what the drum is. I'm glad that some raw video of him playing Live is making more justice to show who he is as a drummer, which is fast single stroke roll , Pinstripe skins, and a piccolo snare. But playing on the side shell of a floor tom isn't really a great idea, I saw that in your live video, I wouldn't let any drummer do that on my Maple Custom, no matter how good he is.
