Regarding the AI “prank” calls. My mother-in-law received a call from her daughter’s phone number and answered to hear what sounded like her sobbing and unable to speak. And then a man came onto the line and said “Please, she needs your help!” Except my sister-in-law committed suicide last October. My mother-in-law was devastated all over again. So fuck those calls.
As someone intimately aware of many things happening in AI, it being part of my career and all, it's pretty intriguing to me that this story which supposedly happened months ago is suddenly big enough news for Phil to get ahold of it 🤔
That’s horrific! My MIL was telling me last week about a friend of hers that got a call that sounded like her son. He said he was in Mexico and needed help. Luckily her son happened to be visiting right then so she was able to tell the scammer off and hang up the phone, but it shook her up a bit. What would have happened if they’d called on any other normal day? Would she have believed it? Would she have thought to call her son or daughter-in-law first to confirm? Starts to feel like you can’t trust your own eyes and ears.
Is absolutely mind blowing that faking kidnapping, assault, rape and demanding $1,000,000 for the person’s release is deemed a legal prank call by the police.
It's completely illegal, but they don't GAF because it's usually from out of state so it's too much hassle to do their job, even when that job is just to figure that out and hand the case over. More laws restricting AI use isn't going to help that at all.
Police are trained to shoot shit, not be cyber security specialists. It's no wonder they have 0% ability or desire to do anything. You'd have as much luck asking the local car mechanic to help with the problem.
@@richardinacanWhy a new unit or whatever…it’s the same thing that has been happening, except with a better voice changer. Nothing has changed in catching the people doing it.
I grew up Southern Baptist (no longer active), and I can tell you from experience that hard working, faithful women play a huge role in keeping so many churches functioning- especially in smaller congregations- whether they're behind the pulpit or not. It's absolutely absurd and insulting that the association wants to limit their official leadership capacity, yet is perfectly fine letting them carry so much weight so long as they don't have a title.
Yup. The southern Baptist church I went to as a kid, it was women that ran that church. The pastor was practically a figurehead. Maybe the men in the congregation didn’t realize it, but the women and girls knew that the church was held up almost entirely by women, most of them doing work for free. And they rarely, if ever, got recognition for it. But if one of the men did the tiniest thing, there was this big ordeal and everyone had to shake his hand and congratulate him, his name was in the bulletin and in the church newsletter. Once the church got those big screens his name was up there too. But it was the women that wrote the bulletin and newsletter every week. Set up the PowerPoint because Pastor never learned how. Made the after service lunch. They organized the Bible studies, and choir practices, and fun events. They did all those little things that kept people coming to church (other than a sense of guilt and a fear of damnation that was poured in to you since birth), but no one was supposed to say a word about their contributions because that work is just what women are expected to do. It’s ridiculous.
That's kind of been how religions are always ran. Women do a large portion of work and the men get all the credit and accolades. It's really just another system of never ending oppression
Yeah, but this is a "woman who voted for the leopards eating faces party shocked when a leopard ate her face" situation. These people all openly support hate and suppression of anyone with less power, just because they like having supremacy over others. Why should we feel sympathy for these women getting caught in their own fire? I can only hope this is a wake up call to leave this horrid group.
Southern Baptist Convention really be like "wow our membership numbers are way down, what should we do to try to turn this around? [snaps fingers] I know, actively discriminate against half the world's population and punish any churchgoers who just happen to go to a church with a woman in the congregation. That'll bring people in."
I'm not into religion at all so I could be wrong but what if they just wanna trade some moderates for a bunch of radicals? Like everyone who agrees with this no women pastors thing will now be drawn to this church....
@@zwenkwiel816 Honestly this is most likely the case. Dogmatic faiths don't tend to like the status quo being changed after all, and more radicals would be easier to minupulate. And all this probably wouldn't bother me too much if it weren't for the uptick in fanaticism nowadays; which i really hope is just confirmation bias on my part.
@@zwenkwiel816 I'm of two minds of this idea. On one hand I think this is very likely going to be a potential consequence of these actions. More moderates are going to leave, and leave behind a more radical cesspool (which is saying a lot who we're talking about). But if it's the INTENDED effect or some grand scheme of theirs? That's where I'm less sure. I think it was done for a much more simple reason: the people who were voting were mostly pastors and other church leaders who are also all men. If they voted to allow women to be their own pastors? That would open up for more competition for their jobs. Not to mention there's a lot of Baptist churches that hold pretty sexist views on women. No shit they were going to say no, even if it comes to the detriment of their religion's own future. Which, honestly? Tends to be a running theme with the evangelical/baptist church. Nothing about their actions that I've witnessed speaks to an organization that really thinks about long term consequences. This was the same group that was most strongly against wearing masks and taking vaccines, even though COVID was actively killing their own followers. I wouldn't be surprised if that's a HUGE reason they experienced such a massive drop in members in 2022 but don't want to admit to it. So yeah, I have trouble seeing them making long term plans of any kind and am more likely going to believe they are just acting on short term impulses.

As a Chicago native, I applaud Illinois for sticking by libraries and books in general. Fahrenheit 451 is one of my favorite books for a number of reasons. All which seem more relevant than ever
Every couple years I read Farenheit 451, The Handmaid's Tale, and 1984 one after the other. Very interesting to imagine 3 very different dystopias, compare and contrast with each other and real world examples. But gotta watch the mental health while doing so.
Good on you, Illinois. Libraries and schools can always choose to pull books from their repertoire if they believe having it is detrimental to their patrons - outright banning books forcibly doesn’t help _anything._
Not to mention my school library refused to check out books that weren't age appropriate. It didn't matter if it was your reading level, if it talked about certain themes and you were under the age allowed to read those themes, you couldn't check em out. (I think the one I tried to check out in elementary or middle school was Make Lemonade? I think it was something about teen pregnancy? Not sure)

It’s LITERALLY step one in fascism; way those Americans clowns are bending over backwards to justify it makes me shocked their crusty old spines ain’t snapped
Man. This southern Baptist story really hits home with me. I was a Pentecostal pastor (women are allowed to be ordained in the Pentecostal church, but there was always a glass ceiling). I experienced harassment from some people in the church saying o can’t have authority over them, as they are a man. I had people vandalise MY CAR! 💀 all because I was trained in biblical theology and uhhhh, wanted to take up a job posting. It’s ludicrous. There is absolutely nothing that disqualifies women from ministry and I loathe people using religion and scripture in these antiquated ways. Nothing shows that someone’s does NOT get the Bible more than bigotry.
Its a shame that 'Christians' seem to be leaning into that more nowadays, and that we aren't getting enough pushback from the real ones. Really makes it feel like the entire Religion is corrupted.
On the guy who faked his death: the fact his family was happy to see him and hugging him etc. makes me believe he wasn’t as ignored/disliked as he believed, and probably should have dug deep emotionally, talked to a therapist, and talked to his family before getting to the point of faking his death 🤣 I have a feeling that would have been a much cheaper and more productive way to get what he wanted/needed
The guy probably one of thise that feel like the world revolves around them and they are the main character in their life. He's gotta be some kind of psychopath I hope his family now really never invites him to anything
I grew up in a little southern Baptist Church in South Georgia and those were some of the most meanest, most cold hearted people I have ever met lol. Outside of the once-a-month potluck, not an ounce of community was in that church They didn't give a damn about anybody in the church or out but themselves.
I grew up pentecostal and half our sermons were about how other denominations were going to hell. It was insane. They went from being warm and inviting to shunning anyone who wasn't a member in the blink of an eye. SMH. I'm so glad I left the church.
When you find out the SBC was an offshoot to support slavery because northern Baptist churches supported the abolition movement are you really surprised
How is the AI scam not extortion? Even if they didn’t kidnap the daughter they still tried to coerce their mom into giving them money through intimidation. That’s a crime.
@@Infamous2040 that’s goofy. That’s like saying if someone attempts to robs a bank and the teller doesn’t hand over the money then no crime was committed
Yeah, it's bullshit. They made SA threats, they demanded money, and they performed identity theft by using the daughter's voice. These are all crimes. This doesn't need new laws it just needs us to apply the ones we already have.
@@matt-ly5wo That's why I said attempted extortion. Attempting such crimes is still an offense, like attempted murder or Solicitation of murder for hire.
@@matt-ly5wo What are you talking about? That is like saying I was going to give the money right back after the bank teller gave it to me. It was not attempted extortion, it was extortion. Extortion does not require you to be able to carry out the threat, or to get the money. You threatened a person with harm if they did not hand over money. That is the textbook version of extortion. Same with death threats, the mother had every reason to think it was true, fact that it was not is irrelevant. This is another case of police not understanding the law, or not caring. I've been participating in the blackout as an individual and I gotta say, just in the first day, my eyes were opened. I never thought of myself as addicted to Reddit but I would "blank out" and just _find myself_ scrolling Reddit before snapping myself back and exiting. Every time I boot up my PC I can feel my hand on the mouse making a B-line for the Reddit bookmark. It's weird but it's very scary, on the one hand I'm breaking an obvious addiction but on the other I'm basically in a media blackout. I have no idea what is going on in US politics (my favourite shitstorm), I'm behind on games/gaming news, etc. All this being said I think the pros outweigh the cons so I'll keep my blackout for a while longer, maybe indefinitely.
I had the same problem and noticed it last year. I quit Reddit cold-turkey as my new years resolution and it changed my life. I had no idea how much of my free time I had lost to just *mindlessly scrolling* nor how unhappy I left it each evening.
Tech companies have purposely designed these socials to be extremely addicting. It's so important to be aware if that and fight back against it. Please take back autonomy of your attention!
Kinda same for me, but like. I think I've acknowledged it a long time ago, weighed the pros and cons and decided I was good with it? Like I agree with everything you're saying yes, but it also was the main way I got news and one of my main sources of human interaction, and I kind of learned how to navigate the pitfalls. If I didn't want to doomscroll I'd go to one of my lighter subs, if I wanted to know what was going on in the world and debate with people(one of my favorite past times) I'd go to the news subs. Like, I feel like I figured out how to use Reddit as a tool instead of being brainwashed by it, ya know? Is that weird, is that just me?
People still do social media? Its all basically just propaganda now. Anything that doesnt agree with the mainstream narrative often gets downvoted or censored completely.
I work in banking. I recently had a older woman come to me looking to make a large withdrawal. Since it was over the daily limit I started asking questions. I finally got it out of her that her "grandson" called and said he was in a car wreck and it was his fault and if he cant pay 6k he'll go to jail and then handed the phone off to a very threatening "lawyer". Sadly its not the first time I've seen this scam. She was baffled that the scammer could sound exactly like her grandson, poor honey was so shook up when we called her son and he confirmed that her grandson was fine and at work.
Yay for Illinois! The book banning is honestly getting so CRAZY. Especially in school districts. The ENTIRE running campaign for school board in my area recently was either "NO" to book bans or "GET THESE BOOKS OUT OF OUR KIDS SCHOOLS!"
Book banning isn't crazy. That's the consequence of having sex performers be paid to push promiscuous sexuality into primary and middle schools. Likewise, defending porno in libraries is the consequence of a preceding rot. Next up: teaching kids how to deal with smoke their first joint safely, and to differentiate fentanyl from heroine.
i don't think i could think of anything funnier than if someone used AI to fake the heads of the AI companies coming out in agreement to legislating AI.
That will probably be the most useful argument for congress. Present them with an obvious potential that *their* face might be next to show up in any various kinds of misleading or false accusations. Maybe a deepfake sex tape, or an out of the closet cross dressing, or perhaps more subtle like something a politician might actually say behind closed doors. Close enough to the truth to make it sound believable but still a deepfake none the less. Literal fake news. And social media has already shown people are too stupid to figure out fact from fiction when news websites spin their stories to fit a narrative. Imagine a world where you can just create a narrative based on a completely fake AI. People will eat up anything as long as it fits their current bias.
@@Jay_FrankI wonder if individual cities can. I know here in Texas the major cities have a track record of enacting laws and policies that counteract what the governor and legislature try to enact. My mother has had our whole family walk out of a church after the male youth pastor did the announcements and the main pastor came out and was a woman. My dad was embarrassed and asked my mom if we could wait for the first hymn but she absolutely refused (not very trad of her btw 😂). She stood up as she was talking and we all filed out via the center isle (as to make as much of a scene as possible). I was too young to understand how vile that was at the time. No wonder why I grew up wishing I was a boy and ashamed of being a lowly woman. A decade of therapy now as an adult has helped heal from this insanity.

My parents failed at trying to indoctrinate me as a Southern Baptist 😂 As a kid, I knew it was trash when my Sunday School teacher told us we had to love god more than our parents.
As a religious person (not christian though), there's not exactly anything wrong with that statement. Loving God = Doing Good for the world to please God which includes loving your parents. On tomorrow's show, could we talk about the incident in Kelowna, Canada. Where at a school track & field meet; two grandparents of one of the girls competing, suspected two other girls of being trans simply for the fact that they had short haircuts. Neither girl was trans, but apparently they were insistent on "seeing proof". Which ... I'll let you fill in the rest there. The grandmother even yelled a bunch of transphobic slurs at one of the mothers of ... I'll say again: a cisgendered 9 year old girl. It's caused such an uproar in Canada right now. Especially around the province of BC where the incident took place.
So we've learned that adults can basically SA kids in an attempt to 'prove' whether or not they're trans. And that's somehow... Ok? I can see this becoming more and more of a problem in America, and I'm honestly surprised that Canada is the one carrying the transphobic headline. I feel so awful for those poor girls who now likely need therapy and support for the bs they were put through. Just let the dang kids be kids! The only things they're concerned about are their friends, eating food, and goofing off. Believe me, I can remember those days quite well. Most of them probably only participate in track for actual competing, in which case they're focused on just that, and the rest are just there because they had to be and they want that free lunch at the end. It's the adults bringing sexual stuff into the conversation, and purely out of ignorance, fear, and hatred. It's a kettlepot fit to explode, and it's truly saddening.
From a cis persons perspective, scenarios like this are the reasons why I could never support transphobes or anti-trans laws. I've noticed that they tend to push ideas that would realistically cause a lot a collateral damage for cis people because some people don't want to understand that there's nuances to how bodies work. When it comes to their attempts to differentiate trans people from cis peope I have yet to see a method that at best doesn't require an electron microscope and a degree of obsession that most would deem you insane for, and at worst sexually assault people and delusionally deny any wrongdoing.

While there are definitely good people in them, the church has become rotted. If God is truly the loving, understanding, and forgiving Father we have been led to believe, I firmly believe that as long as I love him and show people the love they deserve from the love they show to others, then like any father, He will take your personal journey with Him over what journey you could have had with a corrupt institution that seems more interested in protecting the criminals in crimes against children rather then actually helping people.

I'm normally against any bill that would weaken Section 230 but making an exception for generative AI is not only good, it's absolutely necessary at this point. Otherwise, before long, it's gonna be impossible to trust any audio or video we see or hear as being real.
I'm not really sure this is the way to go. It just passes the buck on to the hosting platform, so they will be forced to moderate content in such a way that they are absolutely sure that any content posted is not AI generated... the only way to do that is to have through, human, oversight of all content. And as with any proposed change to 230, the end effect is that it just becomes not worth the trouble of providing free(ad supported) or low cost hosting of user generated content. If the content posted with AI is already illegal, the company that built the AI ought to be held liable, not facebook, youtube, or small forums dedicated to various fandoms or technical expertise. Changing 230 will never fix any problem, unless the problem you want to fix is people being able to connect and share information freely. I'd start with defining in law who the rights holder of AI generated content is (is it the person/company that designed the AI? The one that hosts it?, or the person that uses it for a specific task?), then ensuring that said rights holder is legally responsible for the work the same as any individual would be.

As a lifelong resident of Illinois, I'm proud that the state has shown its true colors in the best way possible. I'm grateful to say that in the Land of Lincoln, people will still be able to read the true history of our state, our country and the world from all perspectives... not just the ones that agree with those in power. I honestly believe that Abraham Lincoln himself would be ashamed to have his name used when those who are Republican refer to themselves as 'the party of Lincoln'. A little history lesson is the Republicans of that era were not like the Republicans of our current era. They, including Lincoln, would be counted among the Democratic party of today.
It doesn't even have to be famous Twitch streamers dealing with stalkers. A couple friends with relatively small communities both had to give up streaming, and one go in to hiding, to avoid stalkers that found them on Twitch. One of them had their streaming adjacent career stopped dead in their tracks as a result, and now they're struggling to make ends meet.
Something I haven’t really thought of in a while was the H3 channels when swatting first got “popular” and how they were swatted for “fun” by people all over the world who watched their stream… and I think talking about the dark side of fame is super important because most of us just see what social media shows us and sadly a lot of semi famous niche people all over the Internet are now targets to crazies it’s no longer just Hollywood celebrities. It’s online famous people and after 2020 with many more turning to podcasts and online broadcasting it just seems to be something people should be more aware of. Or maybe I am living under a rock and everyone’s already aware/ but I appreciate Phil mentioning stories like this. crazy people be crazy and too much information is just too freely obtainable

Lmao did the guy ever stop to think there was a reason he wasn't invited to family gatherings? Maybe because he's the kinda guy to fake his death for familial attention? Which is a red flag of an abuser? Obviously people are gonna cry and hug him after they THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD, but that doesn't change the fact that this was incredibly manipulative behavior especially to force your children to go along with it. I remember having a friend in high school who begged me and other people to post RIP posts on her page to manipulate an ex into thinking she was dead to get sympathy from that ex. And now a decade down the line, she's dating my best friends sister and she's as abusive now as she was then
I'm glad the Reddit blackout is getting on the news. The issues with accessibility is also a big part of why some subreddits are going dark. The entirety of the Blind community has been trying to communicate with the admins about how without third party accessibility apps they would not be able to use the app, or moderate their own community... And the admins do not care. And with Spez continuing the minimize the situation, and as another disabled person, I'm also staying off Reddit until things change, or I need to go elsewhere.
Regarding the Rush charges, as someone who lives in Santa Fe, it’s honestly appalling the way our DA operates. She has a habit of dismissing and reopening cases with months in between, issuing different charges from the originally presented ones, among other tactics to ensure that she gets convictions. Often raising the severity of charges to settle with defendants in the form of plea agreements. Although the fault lies with the armorer, these charges should’ve been brought up since the start of the proceedings regardless of her alleged substance use.
I feel for that mom so much. I think we could use a “safe word” to try to prevent these scams. Talk to our family members and have a word or phrase we say to let them know that we are really who we are. A scammer wouldn’t know that information.
This is also helpful for non-scam situations. A way to signal you are feeling unsafe over the phone without outright having to say it can be a literal life saver.
That's what I was kind of thinking to. I've known parents having a safe word with their kids, so if a stranger would try to "pretend to know their parents" a safe word would be spoken. When I was younger, I would be home alone for hours from when my mom would go to work and my father came home. He would always do a certain knock and then I would reply in the knock with my knock and then he would knock again. Only then, would I open the door.
I’ve had something like this since I was a teen 20 years ago. Something like ‘I’m fine’ is good as it doesn’t raise a red flag, you just have to remember not to say it when you are in fact fine. Then an additional word that works as a password of sorts. But no one can know it, not even friends.
That AI bill actually sounds kinda decent. Like, sure, it's not the platform's fault that people upload shit there realistically, BUT its the internet and you can't really trace the individual in many cases. It's also kinda nice because it means that a lot of websites will probably just sway in favour of outright banning AI content entirely if they have to lol
Your last line sums up the problem with the bill. How do you know the content is AI created. You don't without expensive moderation staff to review it and even then it's just a best guess, as Phill says, AI right now is the worst it will ever be. The only solution for any website that can not afford staff to moderate all content is the same one everyone that wants to change 230 hopes for. Such sites will just have to stop allowing user generated content. Only the largest sites will be able to afford to moderate everything, locking them in with competing sites unable to foot the bill. Never mind the untold number of small online forums that would just have to close up shop cause they have no way to know if content is AI generated. The proper solution is for the law to decide once and for all who the legal rights holder of AI generated content is... is it the creator of the AI engine? is it the host of the AI? Is it the user that prompted the AI? Once it is set in law who "owns" the content, only then can we decide the laws to hold them accountable. Or, just enforce the laws that already exist for non AI generated illegal content. Anyone trying to change 230 has a different goal in mind than what they say. Be as wary of them as anyone that would call for the First Amendment to be revoked.
I used to be a SBC woman in "leadership" (as you could see I couldn't be labeled pastor) and it is one of the reasons I left the denomination. I was and hired to be a Children's minster at a small SBC church and the mental gymnastics they went through to give me a title was exhausting. I had the same education as the senior pastor and he would daily have theological conversations, l. Between this and the shame that Sexual assault victims have gone though its a wonder why SBC isn't just white males now.

In regards to the Southern Baptist Church I will say this: The best way for the Devil to fool millions of people; is to assert that he runs the house of God.
while david is crazy and that whole situation is insane, his message is 100% accurate. My grandmothers dream was to get the whole family together for a holiday and just have us all together. just once. We never did until her funeral. My uncle brought it up at the funeral and it just pissed me off. My side of the family was always there for her and always showed up when she wanted us to, they never did. Spend time with your family while you can. do not take a single moment for granted. ever. Love the show Phil!
The first story reminded me on a Christmas Ad that ran a couple of years ago. Where a grandfather can’t gets his kids to come visit him cause they’re too busy, and then his fakes his death so that they all come to his house for a funeral. And then he comes out with Christmas dinner for everyone.
That first one hits too close to home. My parents are both outcasts of the family, being both the youngest of their large families, nobody comes to our house or invites us outside of major holidays. Even then because of our new house which is more open and family friendly(non summer ones). Note: Our my cousin's house is similarly friendly but she doesn't like them at her house. This includes inviting them out periodically to dinner every friday. Most the time they say no but then you get to when I was younger and my dad would drive 2+hrs, even fly to meet his relatives and they won't give him the time nor day to call or write. I feel for the guy so while it might be a rude thing to do, he's not the douche of the day but just someone fed up.
While I do see your point we do have to ask ourselves what would lead a person into a situation where they would do such a thing. Doing so could make it so that we could get the person the help they need and, lower recidivism rates, and prevent future problems to occur due to similar reasons. Ultimately what I'm saying is that while it is tempting to punish people for things they do disciplining and helping people tend to be more effective. (Yes I know that for this to be implemented we'd have to rework the entire prison system that most developed countries use)
I’ve had my car set on fire too. So I can relate, it is frustrating. Especially so because the fire arson specialist assumed I was to blame, or it was my fault somehow, so they didn’t even really look into it. It happened shortly after my grandmother passed and she was a big part of my life. I lost my 1998 Honda civic which was my favorite car. This happened over a decade ago but yeah, not much you can do if you don’t have full insurance and you’re not well off like justfoxii
Pretty sure this video is getting suppressed hardcore. Didn’t get any notification about it and you are my most consistently watched RUclipsr. I rarely have an issue finding your videos.
I feel so bad for that woman. It must have been so traumatic thinking your child was in that situation. This is a common scam in Korea. Calling and claiming to have a loved one and giving them 5 minutes to transfer the money. I had a friend in Korea who lost 10,000 dollars because when he tried to call the kidnapped daughters phone she never picked up (she was in a movie theatre with her phone silenced) so he transfered the money. With AI voice cloning it's only gotten worse. The best strategy I've found is to have a family known code word. So if something sounds off or you get one of these calls you can ask who are you and the person in trouble will respond 'I'm codeword' and then you know it's true or if they simply say their name you just hang up. This works in emails and texts too. Cause ain't no one gonna call my mom in my voice and say ' I'm Jar jar binks' (example code)
They have no life, they have no friends, so they dedicate their lives to "make believe" relationships and get burned when their parasocial relationship doesn't turn into a REAL relationship. Incels are super toxic.
As someone who used to be in a similar position, let go. 2000 years of wars and 3 different major religions coupled with the actual words in the book might keep leading to bad outcomes for a reason... Plus, had you been indoctrinated into any other "fear me, or else" religion, that'd be where your belief currently lays, instead. Gotta ask if presented with it today, for the first time, would you still believe it? Or would you stick it in your brain with Thor, Ra, Zeus, etc.
just at the end 'the defranco nation or whatever'. I suggest "The Defamily" because the way that you present the news comes across as very personal or intimate, rather than staid and stoic. It's still focused on the facts, but comes across much more like a family member informing others, and as an end result is much more engaging to watch than regular news.
I hope Hannah’s career is ruined entirely and she faces the full consequences of her actions. This isn’t the first time she’s been negligent on sets and without this incident, I’m sure it wouldn’t have been the last. Regarding the AI “prank” calls.
My mother-in-law received a call from her daughter’s phone number and answered to hear what sounded like her sobbing and unable to speak. And then a man came onto the line and said “Please, she needs your help!”
Except my sister-in-law committed suicide last October. My mother-in-law was devastated all over again.
So fuck those calls.
Holy shit. That’s…beyond fucking morbid. That’s heartbreaking.

Is absolutely mind blowing that faking kidnapping, assault, rape and demanding $1,000,000 for the person’s release is deemed a legal prank call by the police.
It's completely illegal, but they don't GAF because it's usually from out of state so it's too much hassle to do their job, even when that job is just to figure that out and hand the case over. More laws restricting AI use isn't going to help that at all.
Police are trained to shoot shit, not be cyber security specialists. It's no wonder they have 0% ability or desire to do anything. You'd have as much luck asking the local car mechanic to help with the problem.
Attempted extortion/scamming is not legal. The feds should open up a new task force for AI crime and do some public arrests.

Yeah, women outnumber men in most churches, especially in the admin and leadership in everything except pastoral roles.
And without pay
And then they wonder why young people aren't joining the church
Methodist is doing this with gay pastors rn too. It's why I left mine because the homophobia just started flowing out after that came up.

Funny how many Christians are obsessed with dominance and authority...

She stood up as she was talking and we all filed out via the center isle (as to make as much of a scene as possible). I was too young to understand how vile that was at the time.
I saw that, I would love to see Philly D cover it. I'm confused why the parents didn't smack the shit out of those 2
So we've learned that adults can basically SA kids in an attempt to 'prove' whether or not they're trans.
I'm not too suprised it happened in the Okanagan.
That whole area has a deep and weird conservative population.
@@PeriwinklePig Yeah I don't think this is something that transphobes and TERFS have thought through (though I'm sure some have and just don't care). Any cisgendered person who doesn't look masculine or feminine enough for these weirdos is going to get interrogated and harassed for their looks.

I feel for that mom so much. I think we could use a “safe word” to try to prevent these scams. Talk to our family members and have a word or phrase we say to let them know that we are really who we are. A scammer wouldn’t know that information.
Excellent idea!

"Moderators for more than 300 subreddits have agreed to hunker down for the long haul."
That's a nice thing for the five of them to do.
I just wanna say that over here in Australia, I consider myself Defancian and daily rejoice in the word of King Phil! :)
Hey Philip DiFranco, I've been a fan and avid watcher since the beginning of your career. Your content has always got me through the day and I want to say thank you. Things have been tough recently because my mother's slowly fading away because her age and health and it's causing a strain with my family. If you can I have only one request if possible to make. Please in each of your videos have one positive thing like Bamf or someone doing something good in the world to lift my spirits in each of your videos. It means a lot to me.
This is such a wholesome request! i agree ❤️☀️
In regards to the Southern Baptist Church I will say this:
The best way for the Devil to fool millions of people; is to assert that he runs the house of God.
Noticed he's got allot of houses....
while david is crazy and that whole situation is insane, his message is 100% accurate.
This makes me grateful that my family always gets together once a year for passover
The first story reminded me on a Christmas Ad that ran a couple of years ago. Where a grandfather can’t gets his kids to come visit him cause they’re too busy, and then his fakes his death so that they all come to his house for a funeral. And then he comes out with Christmas dinner for everyone.
I thought it was for Thanksgiving? Either way a turkey was on the table. Hahahah I remember the commercial
Bruh crashed his in own funeral like a far cry villian.
If you're going to travel 700 miles to set someone's car on fire, I think you forfeit your right to live as a free person indefinitely
@@thelonelygamer361If it it were my life they traumatized I wouldn't want them to get help, they don't fucking deserve it.
@@n00dl3ah I’m sorry imagine what this guy would do to a person if he’s willing to do something like that. Keep ‘em locked up.
I LOVE living in Illinois 😊. We have one of the best governors. Thank you. It's illegal to ban books.
Cause ain't no one gonna call my mom in my voice and say ' I'm Jar jar binks' (example code)
i will never understand why stalkers do what they do, especially if they are willing to drive 700 miles just to burn someones car
They have no life, they have no friends, so they dedicate their lives to "make believe" relationships and get burned when their parasocial relationship doesn't turn into a REAL relationship. Incels are super toxic.
Congrats, that means you’re not a psycho 🎊 🎉
As someone who has their faith but sees the stupid people take it & destroy it. I can’t my roll my eyes anymore. 🙄🤦🏽♀️

Let’s Gooooo Illinois! Banning books is just not ok. Other states please follow suit! ❤
I hope Hannah’s career is ruined entirely and she faces the full consequences of her actions. This isn’t the first time she’s been negligent on sets and without this incident, I’m sure it wouldn’t have been the last. If you listen to the police cam footage after the shooting, it’s disgusting to hear how her main concern is with her reputation, not the fact that a woman was just shot to death because of her. A despicable person
1) treat every firearm as if it's loaded
2) never point it at something you arnt willing to destroy
3) keep finger off trigger
4) know what's beyond your target
Any other blame can be handed out later. But first n foremost Alec violated every single basic rule of gun safety. He should not walk free.
@@Zeppathyhow many times are you idiots going to repeat this. It's a movie. They were shooting a movie, where the director called for him to point the gun at the camera. There are countless things a person shouldn't do in real life that actors do while creating media.
@@Zeppathy oh absolutely. I’m not denying Alec should also be prosecuted to the full extent either - honestly I thought that was a given. I’m just commenting that Hannah absolutely should also face legal consequences, even if her hand wasn’t directly on the trigger.
