Im aware this is over a year late, but it aint just those who grew up with Terry to understand his impact. Im a 20 year old lad, and The Specials mean more to me than anything else in music. Lyrics timeless and so true and will be forever. I may be in the minority of people my age who listen to The Specials but my god theyre so important not just to me personally but the world we live in today. Legends never die!
This is weird, Terry's death is hitting / affecting me more than I thought it should ! Terry was truly the first voice of my youth, my coming of age...✊ The very first piece of music I ever bought, at 11yrs old, was "Ghost Town" 7", and I still have it. Terry / The Specials where such a foundation for my [not just music, but] political motivations, even well into today. When I bought "Ghost Town", at that young age, I knew they're Anti-Racist, anti-Thatcher and linking that to Bob Sands & the Hunger Strikes, The Troubles, and so-on... .
Coventry's finest indeed, the most underrated band to ever come out of the UK. In my opinion, the best band ever out of the UK, without the specials, we wouldnt have ragga, Jungle, drum and bass....they pioneered the cross racial risk factor in British music during a pretty stagnant post seventies hippy depression. British society wasnt a pretty place in the midlands or down south for that matter, a lot of tension and fuck all to do about it, great lads.

this song will always be one of my favorites. i used to listen to this when i was about 14 and i finally got to see them play in palo alto when i was around 16 and loved every minute of it.
Did you see them play at The Edge/Keystone Palo Alto/Vortex on California Avenue? I saw TONS of shows there back in the day (Flock; MManson; KMFDM; etc)
This is the video The Specials should have made, no doubt about it. I nearly pissed myself laughing at the geezer standing in (someone else's) spew. Good work!
I've got this as a 12" single. You're right- talk about a couple of bangers! Mine also has "Tell me why"- not a bad song, but the other two are better.
I hate to say it, but it's my anthem. bad food someone else spew, lipstick on shirt (Dreaming) instead piss stains on my shoes, May not be everyone's good time But that's how it was !

For me it's that beautiful background keyboard. It really creates a sad feeling, which makes the song so touching. Thank you, and RIP Terry Hall.
