    Had this pop up randomly on my feed and I started watching… what’s the point of the pitcher faking a pitch? It’s not like the ball is coming at you at an extreme speed to where the batter cannot adjust accordingly. Let’s be honest ,it’s not a fastball or much less girls fast pitch where velocity is real. Genuinely wondering

    • @sw48
      @sw48  Год назад +1

      The pitcher has 5 seconds to release the pitch. This isn't baseball where you are trying to get the batter to miss the pitch. This is softball where contact is a given so you are trying to get the hitter to miss the sweet spot on the bat by a fraction of an inch to give his fielders a chance to stab a line drive. Completely different than baseball or fastpitch. The goal is a 70% on base percentage for a batter.

    • @balej83
      @balej83 Год назад +1

      @@sw48 thanks so much for the explanation. I did figure it was some sort of ploy to get the batters off there mark, I’m just still baffled pitchers at this level of play even try this. I feel that these softball players are top notch/pro players so even with the fake pitch tactic, these batters still have WAY more than enough time to adjust.

    • @RobotVoice99
      @RobotVoice99 8 месяцев назад

      The point is to mess with the batters timing. But it does literally nothing. Because, like you said, you have like 1-2 seconds to react once the ball leaves their hands.

      If you start with your back foot even with home plate you can stride forward as far as you want in Conference play. The batters boxes on these turf fields are made for youth baseball.

      These guys hit the ball with exit speeds over 100mph. The are using a 44cor/375lbs compression ball.. That's a hard compression ball that is very lively. Its probably the hottest ball used in slowpitch competition. The pitcher is 60' feet away. You should experience a liner coming at your face at +105mph... The camera doesn't really show the true depth and volatility of the game. This ain't beer league.

      The players know when a double in the gap is a double and with less than two outs know they will score on certain hits so they don't push it considering its their sometimes 7th to 9th game of the weekend. But trust me if they don't hustle when you have to hustle they will get cut.

    It's so funny when a strike is called. It's like the batters world is shattered and it takes a minute to regroup his throughts after such a call. Fkn pansies if you ask me. Just take the strike, deal with it, and stay in the box.
