27:19 the 1986 movie's devastator merge for the kill was probably my favorite devy moment because however long prior (months, weeks, years?), my father assembled the constucticons with me, and then when we were in the theaters, there were a few moments when I audibly heard him react. --One moment was during the intro credits and he said under his breath, _"oh, Leonard Nimoy?"_ and an occasional "oh" at other names (at that time, I didn't know who those people were). --Another was him with a significantly louder, *_"Ohhhh!"_* when devastator formed (probably because he realized it was the character he helped me assemble... I never put on stickers and rarely read instructions as a kid). --The other moment from the movie I recall was him chuckling at springer's, _"I got better things to do tonight than die!"_ he was a big western fan (books, tapes, shows, movies) and looking back, I think that quote had a similar bravado to that genre.
19:50 the CW/UW Devastator was undersized KO'd by a company CBB (I think it was cool become brave) and those were scaled to be the size of other CW/UW combiners. I've held off for years on pulling the trigger on the white versions and black versions of devy that were KO'd. The edge was stymied by me getting an oversized, multi-colored version of G1 Devy, and then a few color variants of the 3P toyworld devy (yellow, translucent green, black... all of which are MP scale) and then OSKO versions of other 3P renditions of devy than when assembled, were about the same size as CW/UW devy, but as individual bots could pass for MP scale.
George love this video man the great stop motion at the beginning, your amazing expert knowledge on the toys and history. Also your experience and views on it to wow great video as always 👍🏻🤖🤖🤖
3:59 was happy when they released all toy art in a single book. I was able to get a book during a buy 2 books get 1 book free sale... so about 33% off made it even sweeter.
I didn’t even know about the gift set combiners as a kid but I had all the constructicons. I remember playing in the dirt with them. Still have 4 of my originals. Very good review. I’ve been watching all your g1 videos. Devastator was the best combiner. I think all the 84 and 85 were the very best design. Great review
Awesome video as usual. I never saw any Constructicons on shelves in toy stores here in Sweden. I don’t think they were ever released here and I always wanted them after seeing them in the toy catalogue. I finally got the Encore Anime version about ten years ago. My favorite combiner next to Defensor 😍
@@80sTransfromersFan I never saw Megatron, Soundwave or any of the Insecticons either. Other than that, we got pretty much everything else. Toy stores here were generally well stocked with MOTU, Transformes and G.I Joe, but we missed out on some of the Decepticons, unfortunately.
Great review as usual. I just got Tonkanator and he does indeed have diecast. I don't have any actual Devastators though, so I don't know how it compares with them quality wise. Personally, I'm more of a Piranacon guy myself. Those colors are just crazy, and I love them.
Great review. I have the original G1 and the G2. I wish I've gotten the KB Toys Orange G2 versions (saw them, didn't pick them up....) The showdown with the Dinobots in TF:TM was great. But after watching that scene (too many times....and never tired of it!) but I think the only Dinobot that had some success in hurting Devastator was Slag. Grimlock got kicked out to left field. Sludge got his (literally) eye popped. Swoop was brought down by debris caused by Devastator and Snarl was picked up and thrown out. Anyhow, one of my many favorite scenes from TF:TM. But my favorite combiner is Bruticus. I have all of the main variant except for Battle Gaia.... can't afford him! Great review again.
Battle Gaia is super rare and super expensive! I only seen it twice in person at Botcon 2008 - 09 from the same seller. And I still need Hook to complete my G2 orange constructicons set.
My 1985 birthday, all I wanted was the Devastator gift set. I had got every Transformer I had ever asked for up until that point, so I was 💯 positive I’d be opening him up on my big day. Instead of finding one wrapped box on the table, my parents had put out a bunch of wrapped boxes, including some really big ones so I was like WTF? I started to open each one up and I realized it was a Commodore 64 instead. Totally awesome, unexpected, but when I got to the end and there was no Devastator, I was devastated. I was a complete a-hole and was like, “So I guess I’m getting a computer and NOT Devastator?”. My Old Man was like, “Pack all this sh-t up and take it back!” But my Mom put on her shoes and grabbed her keys and drove out and returned an hour later with a Devastator box set. And they let me keep the 64. As a dad now, myself, if my kids had acted like the jerk I was, nobody would have gotten anything! Sorry this was so long. ❤ the channel.
Wow, awesome story! Thanks for sharing that. I'm happy it worked out in the end! Devastator is the best! For some reason, RUclips is just now showing me your comments. Sorry for the late response.
I purchased it from Bigbadtoystore.com its from Extreme-Sets pop-up diorama. It comes in a couple of different sizes. They have many different themes. And they're available now.
I love these reviews, George! You always put so much effort into the animation. Check out a RUclipsr called Artist Stan, he recently posted an awesome DEVASTATOR video! (I think it's called OPTIMUS PRIME TACKLED.) 🏗️ 🚚 🚧 🚛
Due to how the left shoulder connector is designed, when you’re rotating the arm up, you can actually move it out the way of the chest piece. I only recently figured this out while playing with mine! You can see this in the Diaclone advert at the 20 second mark: ruclips.net/video/kyHcftO_x7c/видео.html Awesome review!
My favorite scene with devastator was his unveiling in the original cartoon.
Can go wrong with Heavy Metal War!

Awesome thanks for sharing! Me and my dad were huge Star Trek fans and he got a kick out of Leonard Nimoy doing Galvatron voice.
My man, your G1 videos are like a time machine back to my childhood
Your other stuff is also appreciated
Glad I found ya
Reaching people like you makes it all worthwhile! I'm happy you enjoyed it. I am grateful that you took the time to comment! Thank you.

I've thought about the white knock-offs myself and still might pick it up.
Great open
Thank you very much!

I couldn't agree more! Devastator is my absolute favorite combiner! And thanks for watching my long winded videos!
Another GREAT review!!!!! Keep ‘em coming imma keep supporting
I freakin love your videos man. Great job. Looking forward to more.
Thanks man!

Wow really? I saw the individual constructicons all the time at different toy stores for about a year and a half.

@@andersnoren6070 I never saw Megatron Starscream or Optimus Prime because they would sellout instantly.
the left arm can be adjusted so it can point past shield but adjusting hooks attachment
Thanks, someone told me a while back, and I put it in my next video, which was the Tonkanator Devastator review.
One of the best action figures EVER made.

Hi George, were did you found the background cardboads for teletraan1, the headquaters of the decepticons etc? These are so coool!!
I purchased it from Bigbadtoystore.com its from Extreme-Sets pop-up diorama. It comes in a couple of different sizes. They have many different themes. And they're available now.
I have a 3rd party devastator. Its smaller than combiner wars, but bigger than G1. in combined mode, hes about 11 inches tall.
George you need to be doing this on Robot Chicken 😅
😆😆😆
The issue with the g1 cartoon was the scale of him. Sometimes he was perhaps too big.
He was meant to be enormous! The merger makes Devastator larger than the sum of his combiner parts.

Holy Sheet! You have to be kidding me!!! Just checked it out and it works 🤯🤯🤯
I know, right? 😆 I was wondering how they did it in the commercial!
