Great review, nice to see someone who *gets* a Defender. I have 2011 110 in the same colour, great machine.

Thank you onetonlandrover. Always nice to hear from people who've actually stumped up with their own money and bought the vehicle they want (not just the one they need.) Cheers for watching.

@@CarNutvideos I got mine new in 2011. I can't say it's been trouble-free but it has certainly been a lot better than some.

I've got a 1963 Series 2A 88", it's smelly, leaky, noisy, rattly, wet, the canvas roof leaks... I could go on. But I love it, wonderful truck, even if she is currently dropping 1.5L of engine oil a week! :O

Got a 06 crew cab with a 300 tdi engine. Great stuff . The only car that ever stuck with me in these 10 years. Am sure my grandson will be driving it long after I am gone‼️‼️‼️ Long live the legend👍👍👍

Nice review and nice to read the comments. Yes, its a shame that Defender production stops this year. We here in England are unfortunately ruled by Europe, hopefully that will change if we do get the vote to stay in or leave the EEC. Personally I will vote to get out. I drive a 2009 TDCi and Love it to bits. It starts 1st time and has never let me down. You have got to keep them regularly serviced and they will go on for ever. That's no Bull, honest. In a car park just outside London the other month, I spoke to a young guy who was driving a 60 year old Series 1 86" made in 1955. I don't know if I agree with the 70% still on the road but I do see a lot of old ones still driving about. Best Regards to you all from Essex England. G

You are a really GREAT car reviewer, and this is one of my favourite videos of yours. Wish I could have bought the Heritage Edition - that would be a keeper for sure. Thanks for your videos, keep them coming

The GM at work has one (very) which he's just traded for a new black and silver model which will arrive and be registered early 2016. For a vehicle that's effectively unchanged in it's looks etc since the 50's there's something very endearing about the Defender. Good choice for a review.

I love my 2013 110. Drive it in Auckland every day. Have done 40 000km and it is not a hassle to drive at all around the city Great to see you drive it round West Tamaki Drive and Glendowie environs.

Quite a usual daily driver here in the Scottish highlands. Loads of them about just doing what they do. Mine's a 2005 110 CSW on about 112,000 miles and been in the family from new, after a succession of Discoveries. Currently driving around 3-500 miles every week, no issues at all. The roads here are narrow and it's nice to know you have the ability to drive in and out of ditches when there's a logging truck/tractor/other Land Rover coming the other way!Great to see a sensible, positive video about the Defender in everyday use presented by someone who understands the point of the vehicle.

They will stop making them because of stupid euro safety crap. They won't meet the pedestrian legislation that means if someone is stupid enough to walk out in front of one, they'll get hurt. So we have to stop making a pretty good car. Ok it's not perfect or reliable but with a defender you can fix them with simple tools. Ok people will say that Japanese 4x4s are better but say that when you get the bill for parts and labour, they still break.

Every so called expert says " there are 70 % of the Defenders ever built still running " ....what a stupid thing to say!!! Damn ..Nobody knows that !!! And one more thing : They might be taff but don't confuse taff with reliable !!! Because they will break down....often !!!! But still a nice car....had two of them !!

    • @oldcargeezer
      @oldcargeezer 8 лет назад +3

lt's possible in the UK at least to access the govt website and find out how many of a particular car are a/ taxed and being used b/ off the road but still registered.
And true enough, around 70% of the total UK registered production still exist, as in on or off the road but not scrapped.

      l drive a 110 and my missus has a 90.
Both are TD5 models, l do about 20,000km per year in mine and l love it.
lt's actually been the most reliable vehicle l've owned, and it was ten years old when l bought it.

      +pol1250 "Because they will break down....often !!!!"
Hi, I run a '84 110 (a Defender before it got that name) with a 300tdi instead of the thirsty old V8 and a '92 Range classic. I agree that a Def will break down - like any other vehicle - but my experience has been that it's not often. Presumably, your 2 Defs broke down more often, can't argue with your own experience. But there's also another aspect: cost.
Parts do need to be replaced from time to time, and when off-roading things break more often. But you can fix a lot yourself with a Def because they are simple, and the parts are relatively cheap (also because they are simple). For example, a new headlight unit costs £20 at Paddock Spares because it's a simple design. Try a new Land Cruiser headlight (great vehicle as well), and the price is not just a little bit higher... That tends to apply to many other Def parts. So I'll just keep on with the old Def and Range :-)

Mine (110 300TDi) has never missed a beat, never broken down and never let me down during 270,000kms but yes she does leak in the rain and is slow and noisy, but how else would you have it???

He's always wanted to own one : but hasn't a clue what he's talking about . This is the chat-style rubbish you get from holiday shows . I've owned them since '74 . Talk about the hopeless Transit engine , wrong gear ratios , time honoured poor visibility , ABS faults . But no , it's elbow room , taking the handbrake off and reving the shit out of it to get to third gear . Geez ..............
