Thank you so much. I have always avoided Y seams like the plague. After watching your clear and confidence inspiring tutorial, I will finally give it a try.❤
Thank you for making this look so easy (right tools and know how). I just finished a carpenter star that had y seams and it was a bugger but I would have been so much easier had I watched this video beforehand - sigh! Oh well, now I know. Thank you!
Some people are gifted with piecing. I am not one of those. I can death quilt anything just about and it’s a good thing. Because my piecing hasn’t improved much over the 8 years I’ve been quilting. 😅 I’m working on a jack’s chain quilt and it is a HOT mess!🤣🤣🤣 there’s holes and tucks in all my y seems. I was hoping by the I completed this quilt top I would be good any seems. Yeah. I’ll just keep death quilting! Go Team “that will quilt out!” Thanks for sharing! Love your patterns!
Thank you! I'm trying to finish up a quilt my grandma started before she passed, and I had no idea what to do. I took the blocks into a local quilt shop and they said "it looks like y seams I wouldn't do it" this video makes it look super easy!
Next to a perfect quarter inch seam, pressing is the most important and you do a beautiful job in showing the correct technique to get the best results. Thank you
Truly needed this... I still remember the second quilt I ever made had y-seams i suffered through it with a seam ripper as a permanent fixture in my hand. And have avoided them at all costs every since. Thanks to this I think I might try again.
I like this way better than the other video I just watched. It looks more manageable. I am getting ready to do my first quilt with Y seams, so now I am not afraid!! lol
I'm so excited I found your excellent video! I am new at quilting. (Self taught after retirement) Crazy me accepted a challenge from a group of experienced Quilter's from the guild. We have a year to complete the quilt. I'm in, I love a challenge. That is until I got the pattern. Yikes!!......."Jack's Chain"! I wish I had found this video before I cut out 588 3 3/8's triangles! Whew......thought I had to make their template. What a mess. But I did it, finally. i have two circles complete. The first had a pucker, the second had a couple holes. One video I saw said it didn't matter after it was quilted you can't tell. Well, it matters to me especially after watching you put Y seams together. Thank you soooooo much for taking the time to share your knowledge. This is the best help I could get. It finally clicked. I got it and its working for me. Thank you, thank you!! No more puckers no more holes! Hey, that sounds like a good title for a country song. Hmmmm.....I don't have time to think about that. I have 576 Y seams to finish! ( I redid the other twelve) Stay safe and well during these trying times.
Hahaha! This made me smile just reading it Frances! Thank you for the comment and I'm glad this tutorial was helpful!! Welcome to the wild world of quilting :)
I have been fighting with Y seams all. day. long. I’ve had to seam rip every one of them. I decided to search them on RUclips after supper, and I have to say this is the best one I’ve found. I was stopping and starting and got tucks in every one of them. I’m going to try your method of making one seam. And I used your ruler to make the blocks and didn’t even notice the quarter inch hole🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😐 ugggggggh! I’m determined to conquer the Y seam 🤨!
Thank you! I just ordered the large diamond ruler last week, and now I know what the hole is for! I’m new to both sewing and quilting, and have found your videos super helpful.
Another excellent tutorial! I have to tell you I almost passed by this tutorial, and I really like your tutorials, but a little afraid of "Y" seams. New Year, new attitude, I am going to try them. Thanks Krista!!
Great Tips Krista, when I did Y seams on a project did not use the holes. So happy to know this now! Thank you for all your tips and tricks. I love my stiletto tool too. Happy Sewing.
Thank u taking the efforts to show Y-seam, but in showing nuances of Y-seam the tight close ups of the area were essential. All of that got missed out due to long shots.
I have beautiful hexagons and I am absolutely terrified to join them. Thank you for the y seam tutorial. This may be a no brained but when joining hexagons every seam end to end would be the y seam right ????
Hi Krista thank you for this very informative video I’ve been terrified to try Y seams but you’ve broken it down so completely that now I’m excited to try Y seams!!!! Also I was wondering what the vinyl cover is I’ve never seen one and what’s the benefit to using one? Thanks again take care be safe and stay healthy!!!
Krista Moser Yes it looks like bubble wrap on your sewing machine bed. I was wondering what’s the benefit and what’s it’s called. Thank you for getting back to me.
Thanks. It would be nice if you could get the camera in nice and close when showing your stitched seams. Also, maybe a contrasting thread color. Love your patterns. I haven’t done one yet, but have the pattern for Chevron City Girl. Something like that.
I enjoyed your video but not the audio so much. Could you dampen the echo in the room or perhaps your recording has different audio settings? It has an echo or fuzziness. Everything sounds harsh and everything you put down sounds like an echo. Maybe the room is all Hard Surfaces?
Hi there! This is an older video and I think you'll find the newer videos are improving in this area! Audio equipment can be pricey, so thank you for continuing to support my work and I'll continue to put that support towards better quality equipment ;)
I'm very new to sewing/quilting. You make it so easy without making me feel stupid. Thank you.
Aww that is the best review Doni!
Thank you so much. I have always avoided Y seams like the plague. After watching your clear and confidence inspiring tutorial, I will finally give it a try.❤
You can do it Brigitte!
Finally a demo of a Y seam with pressing instructions! Thank you so much!
You are so welcome!!

Save this for next time Carolyn! I'm glad it was helpful :)
you made that look pretty easy...off to try it now, thank you!
I hope it all goes well!

You are so right Lynn! Those are the two most important things for accuracy :)
Thank you, will try my first Y seam!
You can do it Rita!!
Gracias por compartir sus conocimientos desde Colombiaa bendiciones para todos los días

I’ll try this some day

Really pretty quilt. Lots of graphic appeal. Lots of movement. ☺
Thank you so much! I've never seen an ugly one :)

I hope it helps!! You'll get better with practice :)

Excellent tutorial! I think now I'm brave enough to give these a try :)
Yay!! They really aren't that bad! Give yourself a practice one or two and you'll be set :)
Another excellent tutorial! I have to tell you I almost passed by this tutorial, and I really like your tutorials, but a little afraid of "Y" seams. New Year, new attitude, I am going to try them. Thanks Krista!!
That a girl Laura!! They aren't that bad once you break them down :) I really hope you give them a go!
Good tips on the Y seams, thank you!
You bet Rita! I'm glad that was helpful :)
Your tutorials are very well done! Many Thanks for taking the time to not only explain but the visuals are Great!!!
Thank you, Renee! I'm glad you are finding them helpful!
Great Tips Krista, when I did Y seams on a project did not use the holes. So happy to know this now! Thank you for all your tips and tricks. I love my stiletto tool too. Happy Sewing.
I couldn't live without that stiletto tool! It makes all the difference :)
Krista Moser 🌸💕
Thank you for the Y seam tutorial. I'm not crazy about these type of seams but I'm going to give this a try. Probably do a test block using scraps.
That's a great idea! Just a little practice is good so you'll have the confidence when the time comes!
Great tutorial. I really need to get those rulers! They're amazing!
You will love what you can do with them!
Fabulous tips Krista, your video tutorials are great! Thankyou :)
Thank you so much Tess!
Thank you!
You are so welcome!!
Wow, best demo yet, thank you xxx
That is so good to hear! Thank you Tineke!

You bet Angelika! I'm glad it was helpful

Thank you Mary! Good luck :)
I love it your tutorials.I am new in all this things. Can you advise how to begin ?
Welcome to the quilting world! I would say to keep watching videos until you feel confident in trying it!
@@kristamoser I will watch it's so amazing.Thx💋
Thank u taking the efforts to show Y-seam, but in showing nuances of Y-seam the tight close ups of the area were essential. All of that got missed out due to long shots.
Such a great helpful video. Love your channel. Can I ask where you found that red and blue striped with the stars fabric. I just love it.
Thank you Debbie! Those fabrics were in the sale section of a quilt shop in Minnisota! I wish I knew what the manufacturer was :-/
I have beautiful hexagons and I am absolutely terrified to join them. Thank you for the y seam tutorial. This may be a no brained but when joining hexagons every seam end to end would be the y seam right ????
That's right... just take your time with each block. You will get faster with practice and I bet that won't take as long as you think!
I really like this method! Thank u! And i love your iron too! Lol is it a blackndecker classic? Its what i grew up using ...
Yes! It sure is... It's not the same quality as they used to make them, but the classic design is my fav.
Wow! Way cool!
I'm glad it was helpful Patricia!!

Oh good Valerie! Are you talking about the surround/extender table on my sewing machine?
Krista Moser Yes it looks like bubble wrap on your sewing machine bed. I was wondering what’s the benefit and what’s it’s called. Thank you for getting back to me.
Thanks!
You bet Beth :) I hope it helps
Thanks. It would be nice if you could get the camera in nice and close when showing your stitched seams. Also, maybe a contrasting thread color.
Love your patterns. I haven’t done one yet, but have the pattern for Chevron City Girl. Something like that.
Ooooh!
easy huh?!
Muito bonito🙏😘
You didn't swivel the bottom layer around, did you. You need a camera with bird's eye view while you are sewing and zoomed in.
Haha! That's right, I need a 10K camera setup and team of video editors!...some day ;) The top layer swivels to match the bottom layer.
Nah, you just need the kind of camera person that Eleanor Burns has- her son!@@kristamoser
