@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim Interesting if true, but Wu doesn't really feel like a villain. But more like Dr. Frankenstein as people describe, since he just interested in creating dinosaurs or genetics. He is more like a MacGuffin in the movie that allows dinosaurs to exist. But, now that the ending of Fallen Kingdom has establish. Wu is no longer necessary to the plot or important. I wished he had a bigger role.
I think that's why he doesn't really have emotion towards the people that end up dead from his creations. He doesn't get the credit he feels he deserves.
He’s the biggest example of doing it because he can, not because he should. Hammond at least appreciated the dinosaurs for the wonders they were. Wu had a clinical view of the dinosaurs, not realising the implications and instead being proud of his creations despite the carnage they caused. The fact he’s willing to apply his skills for military applications is further proof of an ego desensitised to consequences. In Jurassic World he flees Isla Nublar without consideration for his colleagues, and quickly escapes the Lockwood mansion when the dinosaurs there are let loose. In the upcoming genetic arms race, no doubt Wu won’t be picky about how ethically his samples are obtained. Wu’s character seems prone to taking the easy or lucrative way out, and so he doesn’t see or willingly blinds himself to the human casualties. He deliberately withheld information about the indominus, using the conversation to try blame Masrani for wanting something with lots of teeth. Wu even facilitated the poor mental well-being of the Indominus for Hoskin’s ulterior motive. He uses what insight he has on dinosaur behaviour for his own convenience, insisting Blue is retrieved so further tests with the Indo material are easier.

Back in 1993 I dont believe his intentions were military use like ingen's, but maybe the passion he had for dinosaurs got taken advantage of?

Wu’s creations, the Spino and the Indominus were the best creations but forced into the wrong view, they needed a mother like how he yells that about the IndoRaptor, Wu was the reason why I love making perfected species in Evolution and the reason I wanted to make hybrids...unfortunately his attitude in evolution made me hate how he views certain things as not his work
That music had me expecting Sephiroth to randomly pop out! Maybe I'm remembering the wrong music though! It's been about six years since my last FF7 play through! Anyhow! Awesome video as always Klayton!
Brilliant video, great to see content on characters in between films. Dr Wu has always been an interesting character in the books and I like the direction they have taken him in 👍🏼
I hope Dr. Wu gets some kind of redemption in Jurassic World 3. He's a real interesting character and I don't really see him as a villain like Eli Mills was.
After the events of Fallen Kingdom, he joined Biosyn and created the Locusts. But after a couple of years being in Biosyn, Wu realized that they made a terrible mistake and that Biosyn was using the Locusts to control the entire food chain. But after Dominion, he created a Locust with DNA that would kill off the entire population of Locusts. And thus he redeemed himself in the end.
The thing that really bugs me about Wu is his total disregard for human life. The only thing he says about the Indominus killing people is "that's unfortunate". The man just bugs me on a fundamental level. As someone who was a biology major, the man just gives scientists both fictional and otherwise a bad name with his obsession and his ethical incorrectness.
so i work at a movie theater between semesters of college. and when Fallen Kingdom came out it was the only time i ever thought an after credit scene was not worth the wait unless they did something pretty odd. See one thing i thought about was that each movie (bar the second one) showed a new step up in their genetics tech. the 1st movie showed the creation of previously extinct dinosaurs the 3rd movie had the hybrid experiment that was the spinosaurus the 4th movie introduced perfected dinosaur hybrids with Indominus the 5th movie introduced human cloning. and the 5th movie ends with the pteranadons in Las Vegas, which stands out to me as being somewhat close to area 51 as far as major population centers go. So it feel that if theey were keeping up with this theme of the advances in genetics, then the 6th movie would end up having some splicing of human and dinosaur, maybe a hybrid dino with human intelligence to use in warfare or something. Which maybe ends up being developed in area 51. If that ends up being the case, i would end up taking back my thoughts of Fallen Kingdom's after credits being not "worth the time" as i heard most people who waited for it say before i had to clean up after them and the rest of the audience. This is not to say that area 51 making human dino hybrids would be a good movie, im saying that unless they make the las vegas cameo relevant next movie, then the after credit still sucks, and that human dino hybrid seems like the next progression in the genetics advances each movie (except the second) has made.
I would love to see a miniseries exploring Site B and Wu's research there, the culmination being the creation of the Spinosaurus and the crew leaving the island with the dinosaurs taking over Isla Sorna.
I think Rexy will kill him. It would a poetic way of the films coming full circle. Wu's most famous creation will be the one who destroys him. Wu brought Rexy into this world and Rexy will take Wu out of it.
Turning Dr. Wu into a super villain makes about as much sense as Dr. Gerry Harding becoming the series antagonist. Wu was just a guy doing his job and playing a role in a much larger plan, not a criminal mastermind. I‘ll never understand why the screenwriters put him on this narrative trajectory without any proper film setup. I appreciate the vast world building and character history via Universal but it’s a shame it all occurs offscreen outside the films. Klayton himself said film Henry has more in common with novel Henry. It just feels too little too late. I agree he’s not an outright villain, but calling him a “Desperate artist” is generous. The whole concept feels reactionary and not thought out. As if the role could have been any other geneticist on the team.
The only thing Wu is guilty of is association. Like you said, he partners up with less than savory people. The man is having all his research and actions scrutinized because of someone else's mess up.
I'd think that it would not have gotten so bad if they just gave Dr. Wu a Nobel prize. I mean, bringing various species back from extinction isn't good enough for that?
Agreed! HEs a very complex man and hard to figure out one hand he brought back dead ancient reptiles and plant life. But on the other hand he made a monster that cost Ingen millions and lawsuits as well.
Wu Tang ! Wu Tang ! Seriously though, I didn't like how his character changed from being this smiling nice scientist dude to this villainous type mystery dude.
When Henry wu Said a very very important thing he said “All dinosaurs in Jurassic world has different DNA 🧬 in their body” which is very important to know because then it makes sense why the velociraptors are different in many cases this is my opinion
Like you Klayton, I think he's a fascinating character/antagonist and I like that his role has gotten more fleshed out in the JW series. I hope we can see more of him in later movies and also his back story.
I love his character and he would make a great main protagonist or at least one of them, But i do feel bad for him too and when he kill him off it gonna sadden me for a moment
I dont know why people argue with Dr. Wu. Yes he created the I-REX and the I-RAPTOR, he also created beautiful species of dinosaurs like the Brachiosaurus and the Triceratops. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone is curious,
Klayton Fioriti I thank you for the Jurassic park world Series videos and😍🤩Your Channel, every time INGEN IVmakes a new Jurassic park, or world there is always a problem like DR. Malcum says ooo aww people start running and screaming,or dr Malcum say follow the scream.
I too consider Wu to be more of a tragic character rather than malicious or villainous. I keeps pushing the envelope on his research because of a combination of his personal ambition and curiosities in the sense of, "Can I actually do this?". He's also very prideful and protective of his work, or legacy, and took offense when Masroni called his work (specifically the Indominus) a monstrosity, even when there were a number of human fatalities because of it. I don't seem he as sociopathic as maybe more trying to disconnect himself from consequences like a somewhat spoiled child or even a rich celebrity with a massive ego that he feels like he earned or is entitled too because of his accomplishments. Also, his behavior is this trilogy reminds me of his next to final scene in the original novel, where he concerned himself more about the physical development of due to reassembling and hybridizing the genomes he created, but not really bothering to learn more about the animals themselves (ie behaviors) past how their genetics have influenced them. I don't think he spent too much time interacting with the Indominus to even the small extent that Claire did, beyond probably being there for its birth, and he didn't really seem to care much about their behaviors, until he had to work directly with the Indoraptor himself, which is probably where his need for Blue as a genetic and behavior parent came in. This time, he had no one else to really oversee the animals for him, no Muldoon, no Owen or Claire, and Mills seemed to be at least as disconnected from concerns about the Indoraptor as Wu had been before the events of Fallen Kingdom. So Wu might have evolved a bit more in how viewed his creations beyond just engineering them, but doesn't seem to have gone as far as Claire, Owen, Hammond, or Masrani. And while he did participate in selling off his surviving creations from Nublar, I wonder how reluctant he was about it, but still saw it as necessary in funding and resources to create a perfect Indoraptor and beyond? These animals were his initial legacy to the world, and he knew that now these other entities were going to potentially mass produce their own bootlegged versions of his works, like his fears with the Indoraptor being sold. So while he might not care that much for the dinosaurs as animals, I wonder if the prospect of other people bootlegging his legacy after the auction was also hurting him on a personal level too?
When looking at the way he was in JP vs how he is now, I don't like the major change. But how he was in the book to how he is now I like it as it is a natural progression of his character. With that said I hate mixing book and movie to explain the progression of a character. From the book I do truly see him turning out the way he did in the last two movies but from the way he way portrayed in JP it is not a natural progression so I really don't like how he has changed in the movies.
I did heard that when some people who saw Jurassic World forgot Henry wu was in the first film it was probably due to the actor at the time was not a well-known name after Jurassic Park he appearing in other movies but I think when he was first seen in Law and Order Special Victim Unit that's what made him a recognizable name
That’s so untrue. He obviously cares enough about the character arc that he reprised the role to bring desperately-needed closure to um... writing on a clipboard...?
I hope Dr. Wu goes on to create more dinos and not be reprimanded for it. Although I know the original message of JP is to not tamper with such things but the real reason we love the story is for the dinos and for the possibility of doing the impossible. Both of those things are heavily tied to Wu and it would be sad to see it all go away by killing him or ending his research.

Ya he becomes sensi wu from ninjago
Sadly if it's not in a film, it's unknown canon for the wider audience. This all would've made a fantastic sci-fi 4th film and prequel to JW.
Amen
Yes! I've been waiting for a video related to Henry Wu after what happened in Jurassic Park in 1993.
Klayton!!! Please for the love of god bring back the original background music.
Hey man thanks for the shout out!
6:47, I remember that scene when Masrani blames Henry for the deaths of several people as well as telling him that he has no idea what he's done.
I honestly find it fascinating how much they have managed to align movie Wu with book Wu and yet take both in completely opposite directions.
Hey klayton!! Amazing video so much I didn’t know, so thanks so much for posting this!!
Wu is honestly one of the best characters in the series.
Wow! I knew very little info in this video! Thank you Klayton, you're great!
so i work at a movie theater between semesters of college. and when Fallen Kingdom came out it was the only time i ever thought an after credit scene was not worth the wait unless they did something pretty odd. See one thing i thought about was that each movie (bar the second one) showed a new step up in their genetics tech.
the 1st movie showed the creation of previously extinct dinosaurs
the 3rd movie had the hybrid experiment that was the spinosaurus
the 4th movie introduced perfected dinosaur hybrids with Indominus
the 5th movie introduced human cloning.
and the 5th movie ends with the pteranadons in Las Vegas, which stands out to me as being somewhat close to area 51 as far as major population centers go.
Human/ Dino has been a thought since the early drafts of JP 4
Such passion in your videos, I’m grateful.
Awesome video, I have always wondered what happened to Dr. Wu after Jurassic Park.
I hope they don't push him too hard as a villain in the final film. He is still a redeemable character
I love the music you chose. Epic
Do you know what it’s called? I can’t remember it’s name.
I would love to see a miniseries exploring Site B and Wu's research there, the culmination being the creation of the Spinosaurus and the crew leaving the island with the dinosaurs taking over Isla Sorna.
Awesome video man 😄❤️
I have a feeling that he’s being borderline villainized to set him up for a fate in the next film similar to his in the novel.
Dr. Wu is an awesome character. I like him more in the movies than the novel, actually.
I just hope the movie will have the guts to have Wu meet his end as he did in the novel.
You and me both
I want Rexy to eat him in slow motion
I think Rexy will kill him. It would a poetic way of the films coming full circle. Wu's most famous creation will be the one who destroys him. Wu brought Rexy into this world and Rexy will take Wu out of it.
Stacy Gagneaux It will mirror the quote, “man creates dinosaur, dinosaur eat man”
That's always what I thought. I never like it when all the character development happens offscreen.
Awesome vid bro, keep up the good job !!
He would make the best complex villain and I wish they would do it. He is literally the poster child for the warning message of all the movies.
I consider him neither good or evil just someone who will do anything to do their personal work
Wu Tang ! Wu Tang ! Seriously though, I didn't like how his character changed from being this smiling nice scientist dude to this villainous type mystery dude.
It just shows what hubris and playing God can do to a man
Yes Dr. Wu is awesome character at the Jurassic Park franchise
Personally to me, Wu is one of the highlights of the World films❤
Hope you're doing alright Klayton!
Yes I agree I really hope he plays a large role in the last movie
When Henry wu Said a very very important thing he said “All dinosaurs in Jurassic world has different DNA 🧬 in their body” which is very important to know because then it makes sense why the velociraptors are different in many cases this is my opinion
Like you Klayton, I think he's a fascinating character/antagonist and I like that his role has gotten more fleshed out in the JW series. I hope we can see more of him in later movies and also his back story.
0:25 hOLY SHIT. THAT MUSIC SOUNDS SICK! WHAT IS IT CALLED??
I think Wu will be helping out the protagonists in the final chapter, followed by his novel death.
Music in this is pretty rad!
I hope they don't kill him off in the next movie. He's not a one-dimensional "villain" and it's too predictable to kill him.
Interesting and cool video 🙂👍🦖🦕
Klayton I’m glad you are safe from the hurricane
I know we get roars and growls when talking about Dinosaurs, but I would have loved for Wu to talk shit to us for his intro. XDDD
Dr. WU IS A MAD ARTIST, I love that line. While I don’t want him to Be a complete villain, I do hope he plays a large role in the last movie.
i think it is fitting that he was able to redeem himself in dominion after realizing the mistakes that he has made.
Everyone makes mistakes, everyone is curious,
Love the vid and love the soundtrack!!!!!
I was happy af to see him in the new ones
Last movie was not his fault that they were selling a prototype when he said it wasn't ready
Sean Gere Same. I can’t separate the easygoing lab guy from the Resident Evil villain guy he is now. It’s just too forced.
I love dr wu he is a awsome and complex carácter
Klaytion i'd like to see a video where you have all the animations like the opening to your videos in an awesome compilation.
I did heard that when some people who saw Jurassic World forgot Henry wu was in the first film it was probably due to the actor at the time was not a well-known name after Jurassic Park he appearing in other movies but I think when he was first seen in Law and Order Special Victim Unit that's what made him a recognizable name
Terrill Bobbitt How could they forget the nefarious and unforgettable villain Dr. Wu? Writing menacingly on his clipboard.
He was Wued back in by the money.
That’s so untrue. He obviously cares enough about the character arc that he reprised the role to bring desperately-needed closure to um... writing on a clipboard...?
r/woooosh
No. I get puns. I was trying to add to the shallow motivation for BD Won's return.
I see what you did there! ;)
