The book really exposes how everyone in his life enabled him. They could have easily gone to the studios and said “let’s get him to rehab, no movies until he’s clean”. But they didn’t care, he made them money, then he died. The book was well written and a great look at his life and how it ended.

Then you would have half of hollywood in rehab. So dumb. You cant stop people from doing drugs when they are out of control. They will find the drugs

I've not seen the movie but have read the book many times and it's fantastically written and totally absorbing. If the narrative is true and I've no reason to doubt it, then I can see why these Hollywood elite hate it. There are key figures in John's life that are totally complicit in his demise and they know it. Could anybody have ultimately saved him? Maybe/probably not but you can't help wondering that more effort could have been made rather than shovelling endless cash at him to keep him out of their offices. John was a force of nature, immensely talented but directionless and needed better guidance. A terrible waste.

Amazing that Chiklas career wasn't destroyed forever. The movie was a box office bomb, critical failure, and despised by Hollywood. Thats a hell of trifecta.

Agreed! He did have a considerable rough patch as a result. He certainly had great success with The Commish, Fantastic Four, and the Sheild in the coming years. But by his own telling ( in the few interviews he has done on the topic) he had considerable difficulty getting any work for a lengthy period.

I feel Wired was the start of exposing Hollywood for the not so glamorous scene we all thought it was,no wonder Hollywood hated the book and did not want that movie nade. Look today whats happening with Hollywood today. We are hearing stories about child exploitation, drug enabling, sex trafficking and murder, for decades it was all overlooked.and Wired was the start.

But a lot of people saw that as lies and tabloid where in Wired Bob Woodward put us all in shock,I read Wired when I was twelve and for a twelve year old in 1990 to know his heros like Robin Williams,Chevy Chase, Jack Nicholson,Carrie Fisher,Dan Aykroyd and Richard Pryor were all into the drugs,I was shocked

One thing good that came out of this is, Micheal Chiklis did after a while became a successful actor in his own right. Its just sad that right after this movie he had a hard time finding another gig until Burt Reynolds introduced himself and helped him,i thought for a moment at one point comparing Chiklis to Val Kilmer when two years later Kilmer would portray Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's The Doors, but the only comparison is both actors portrayed two entertainers who shot to fame too soon and died at a very young age due to the excesses of fame and both movies painted them as horrible people due to the drugs but however the huge difference is before The Doors movie and after Val Kilmer was already an established star where Michael Chiklis before and after Wired was trying to get his feet wet in Hollywood and i say, Micheal is an awesome actor and he's awesome in anything he does and he has come a long way since Wired and I wish him Godspeed and hope for more in the future. Just turn down bio pic projects if there about Sam Kinison, Chris Farley or John Candy. No Micheal No! We all love you and want to see more of you,God bless Micheal.

Hollywood hated this movie like they did Minnie Dearest because they told the hard truth of their beloved stars. They want a film dedicated to glorifying them that’s it but John’s personal life wasn’t to be glorified.

They've yet to make a good movie (great documentaries). No great movies yet. Wired be the only movie. What a stinker.
