    Thank you for this! I am making a breast collar for my sister’s horse, and yours is the clearest explanation I have found for the knots.

    This is the first of my series on making mohair cinches. The Introduction is still to come as are the final 5 or 6. I have numbered them so you can follow in order if you're making a cinch. Remember - these videos don't take the place of face-to-face instruction, they are meant to supplement personal instruction. As always, though, feel free to contact me for more information or clarification.

      Love that you have done these videos. I've had your book for years, and always thought I'd like a Cactus Flower loom; this series of videos spurred me to finally order one (it arrives tomorrow)! Looking forward to more videos from you. Thanks!

      Hi Caroline! Thank you so much for making these informative videos! My father and kids made me a loom as a project together, I’ve purchased the mohair, but I wasn’t sure what size buckle to work with for a 17 strand cinch. Is yours a 3”? Thank you!

      @@laurenmiller7790 Yes, I use a 3" buckle. Good luck with your project!

    How should the tension be between rings or panels. And how tight should the larkshead knits be?

    • @carolinespurgeon6016

      Make the larks head knots tight so they don't loosen up. Keep the tension even. It doesn't have to be tight, just consistent.

    How do you figure how long of cord you need?

    • @carolinespurgeon6016
      @carolinespurgeon6016  2 года назад +1

      17 strands times the length plus allowance for knots plus 2 yards for end finishing. To make it easy: a 32” cinch uses 47’. If you want it 2” longer (34”) add 2 x 17. If you want it shorter it’s 47’ less number of inches shorter times 17.
      I hope that makes sense.

      @@carolinespurgeon6016 six feet for finishing the ends?

    • @carolinespurgeon6016
      @carolinespurgeon6016  Год назад

      You need 2-3’ for each end. I prefer 3’ as you want to have plenty to do the end weave.

    How thick is the "rope" you use? :)
