This video repair guide is for the Samsung Galaxy S4. The helpful techs at Repairs Universe show you how to take apart The Galaxy S4 in order to replace a broken LCD or touch screen digitizer. This tear down tutorial will also aid when needing to install other replacement parts such as internal components.

The "touch screen digitizer" is the outer glass where you have lost sensitivity. Unfortunately, since the digitizer comes fused together with the LCD screen, you will need to purchase the full assembly (LCD + touch screen) if you wish to have a working touch screen. However, if you have already bought a new one and attempted installing it, you may want to reopen the device to make sure the connections involving the screen are securely in place before buying a new one. Be sure any connections involving the LCD screen are securely in place. It sounds like the flickering is being caused by the LCD screen's connection to the device.
While it sounds like you have only damaged your touch screen digitizer (front glass), you will need to replace both the touch screen and the LCD screen (inner display). I watched your video on taking your phone apart and screen removal. First off thanks!
A few things, when I took my phone apart I accidentally bent the "port" on the signal antenna. I took it to a guy to get it fixed. When I got it back I changed my screen and then noticed that my "home key" wasn't working (or the Back Button or Menu Button). I didn't noticed this until after changing my screen. Did I screw something up with the screen swap or did they screw something up when they replaced my antenna? The home key was working when I took it to them. I just didn't check the functionality of it before the screen swap.

thanks for the video, actually my S4 screen is CRACKED, I can see it working but it shows nothing, do I need to replace the digitizer ? or I need just to replace the front Glass ? because the digitizer is about 214 $ while the front glass is only by 14 $, which one is the right item to buy ???

You could go to your service provider and haggle with them but it sounds like you need to replace the LCD screen. If you click the link in the description you will be taken to the page where we have parts available to do the repair yourself.
Also I had ordered the signal antenna to replace myself to begin with. It was the right part but for the wrong S4. The edition S4 was the I9000, which I believe is the Sprint version of the S4. I have the Verizon version, but what edition is that? Is it the I9500 or I9505 or are there more editions??
Thank you Track for posting in the forum for me. Okay lets get started. This is the model number for your device SCH-I545. This is the Verizon S4. You can confirm this by removing the battery and looking at the sticker on the rear of the phone. As for the soft keys not working anymore. I would definitely take it back to the repair shop , and have them inspect the device to see if they may have accidently knocked something loose. It does happen. We are all human. Well technically you are right, but we don't recommend that to our customers because it is very difficult to separate the parts unless you are a skilled technician with lots of experience.

I followed your instructions, i changed the glass perfectly. unfortunately i lost all touch sensitivity.

If anyone would like to post a video on how to undo the BS this company's video has had me do that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TITLE OF THE VIDEO and now has me with a phone completely undone, that would be awesome. This company, however, is completely bunk.
jdtnirvana Once all the steps are completed in this video, heat up the screen and pry it off the front bezel of your device. Make sure you don't rip the home button flex when you take the screen assembly off. Then place adhesive around the edge of your replacement screen to seal it back to the bezel. Lastly, follow the steps in reverse to reassemble your device.
Repairs Universe Blow dryer type heat?
Yes a blow dryer will put out more than enough heat to separate the screen. Make sure not to (cook) the LCD. 110 degrees is about as hot as you want it to get. Just take care and your time in doing your repair. As always if you have any issues you can email me @ Robert@repairsuniverse.com
hey could please help me here.. I have an S4 but the bezel thats looks like part of the screen is dented and peeling off (Not the bezel of the back cover/casing you removed in this video. Am talking about the thin trim/bezel part of the screen area..can that be removed and replaced of does it need me to replace the whole screen? As there is nothing wrong with the screen at all just the dented bezel making it look bad : (. Would highly appreciate if you could please suggest.

Pedro Gomez The screen is made up of a digitizer lcd and glass is put together with Loca Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive. Then there is the mid plate. After that is the Mother Board.

Zack yes you are correct. It seems like the rest of the video has been cut off. I will get with my productions team and find out what happened. You would install the new screen in reverse. You would apply the 2 sided adhesive on the outside perimeter of the screen. Making sure not to cover the camera, proximity sensor, and ear piece. DO NOT PUT ADHESIVE ON THE REAR OF THE LCD. You should be okay after that.

Shabaz .Qureshi true. I found that sprint is compatible though.
Yes all the screens for all the S4 are the same. What makes them non interchangeable is the Screens with the frames. They are different the motherboards will not mount correctly and burn a chip set. The ones that work together are the I545 and L720 CDMA/ M919, I337, and ant the L720T(Tri Band).. If the frame is not damaged best bet is to just install a new screen into your frame. Your parts will fit your phone that's where it came from. Good Luck

all s4 lcds are compatible to each other, it's the lcd middle frame bezel, that's different. I337 has the same frame bezel as L720T, but not L720. L720T is triband sprint, L720 is original sprint s4 model

How do you know what parts to buy? I have a samsung s 4 which got some sort of pressure crack. The crack is under the glass and the screen looks black with blotches of color when I try to scroll. It looks like a broken LED TV.

i tried to mount the display including digitizer, then i disassembled the entire phone, motherboard and all componets and trasfered in the new display... but now soft touch buttons wont work except one, speaker doesnt work, camera works 50%, waht can be happened? can anyone try explain me how to solve problem this?

Yes, is the short answer.
The long answer would be you would need to find a no frame s4 combo kit.
If you have a frame with your combo kit it will not work because one is for one and the other is for that one.
The frame we are talking about goes around the digitizer and the lcd. We sell none frame s4 combos. So you can use them all around.
What Repairs Universe replied to you is false. The glass on the front screen can be replaced by heating the front of the screen and removing it, then regluing a new one. I am currently looking for instructions on how to do it, I will probably edit this post when I have it.

You need to replace the LCD in this case. The LCD is fused to your touch screen, you will get them together and this will resolve your issue.

Is this video out of focus? Looks like a great instructional video but looks out of focus which makes difficult to see detail.
Since I can't edit my original comment, I'll add another comment here. Here (you tube: "/watch?v=S_BadHtLPbU") is the instructions on how to replace JUST the glass. Here (Amazon: "Front-Screen-Replacement-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B00CPRY3XG/ref=pd_sim_cps_2") is the replacement glass. MUCH cheaper than spending $250 on a full screen replacement or paying someone to do it. (add the parenthetical text to the normal site address, less quotes.

VigilanteSEVEN were you trying a glass only repair? This video is intended for the full assembly, including the LCD.
Except you don't actually finish it. It's a video intended for someone only interested in getting half way.
