- A long-time arch rival to the Toyota Corolla, the latest #HondaCivic gets some upgrades for 2025 that finally bring back the #HondaCivicHybrid nameplate to the states after a decade long hiatus. The newest #CivicHybrid utilizes the latest 2-Motor #Hybrid powertrain from the Accord and CR-V and it promises to give the #HybridCivic Prius like efficiency and the most power of any non-Type R #Civic ever.

Happy Weds everyone! We’d like to extend a big thanks to our new editor Martin for going to this drive program for us while our host Sofyan was getting married on June 1st. Hopefully you guys like his style and we loved the vibe he brought to this video. We should be driving the hatch sometime in September.
Congrats, Sofyan!!
Congratulations Sofyan on your wedding!
Lucky girl 😅
Congrats!!!!
Did he bust a nut?
Thanks for having me on the channel and not just behind the camera and computer 😅 It isn’t easy filling in for a pro like Sofyan!
You're hot af, Marty. 🥵
This isn’t a sequoia!!
@@lefonceobscure True! I’ve owned 27 different cars/trucks and it’s great to learn about and drive something I haven’t owned, like the Civic.
This Civic will finish the job of killing Accord sales.
EXZACTLY.....
At nearly 200,000 Accords sold in the US last year, and the #1 selling hybrid, the Accord isnt going away any time soon.
@@DSRQ1don’t worry Camry hybrid has entered the chat at 28k starting price. Rip accord
@@MrOscar5690
Toyotas are good cars. Camry hybrid has been around since 2007, are you under the impression it's a new model?
Maybe in Canada. In the US, no chance.
hybrid cars are achieving 500 600 mile range while EVs are regressing to sub 200mi ranges and people are happy with them
Sure do. I love my model 3. 320 plus miles and cost me $9 for a full charge. Also less maintenance. And with all the incentives it only cost me $21k. I'm overjoyed😊
I think a lot of it has to do with the upfront cost, and the government incentives making electric much more appealing financially, especially if you have the ability to charge at home. I recently switched over to electric after shopping for hybrids for the last three months. For each hybrid I was looking at, the upfront cost was so much higher that it mitigated what I would have saved on gas, so I ended up going with an electric instead. Once dealers stop playing games and marking up hybrids I’m sure the sales increase even moreso.
I wouldn't get an EV. Hybrids are better, IMO.
@@DRayL_
Hybrids are better💪🏾! We bought a 2024 Honda CRV Hybrid sport L. We instantly fell in love with the vehicle! We're currently getting 450 miles to a tank of fuel and you don't get EV range anxiety.
@@pigg20021 True! And for people like me, who lives in an apartment complex, I'd have to sit at a charging station every so often, for ~30 minutes while it charges.
BTW, I do like the CRV Hybrid. It's a pretty good choice. 🙂 I'm hoping for them to someday include an HR-V Hybrid.
Congrats to Sofyan! And great job to Martin for covering for him!
Thank you! Some big shoes to fill 😅
@@MartyMotoring you did a great job!
FINALLY!
And hope our friend is enjoying himself wherever he is!
Sport touring should have cooled seats and rear vents for that price.
True, but if the $38k Integra is not getting cooled seats and rear vents, they will certainly make sure that the Civic is not getting them.
32k isn’t that expensive for cool seats and rear vents, although Elantra does have cool seats but only on hybrid limited, and none of Elantra have rear vents.
No. It should not.
And massage seats
The Exact same car being sold in the United Kingdom has Panorama roof, rear seat vents and rear charge ports! The Canadians and Americans are getting hosed!
As a Honda salesmen my biggest complain is no rear vents on certain models
There are vents under the front seats, but yes, vents at the back of the armrest for rear passengers should be included.
I said this about the new Prius and I’ll say it here, too: How often do people actually sit in the back of a sedan?
People are spec-sheet shopping instead of thinking about whether the features manufacturers selling are actually useful/worth the added costs.
@@Love2Cruiseso people with kids may want that for them.
@@dm1660 Fair objection. My counter point: Most people with kids don't buy sedans.
@@Love2Cruise yeah but if they want something new and a crv is msrp’ing higher they may opt for something like this in hatch form
My first car was a 1997 honda civic dx coupe. Can't belive how much the civic has changed. I even had a 2018 lx p coupe, a 2022 civic touring and my current Integra(same car really). I still think but its me being sentimental, my first civic is still the best car I have ever owned
Would be great if they’d quit putting super low profile tires on every damn car just to make it look sportier. I want more rubber.
Go Martin! Been looking for the civic hybrid to come out for a while, lovely review / summary
The pricing is pretty close to the camry hybrid that offers more for your money
This is top of the line plus the aim is more towards the Prius go look how much a Prius is going for
I would still choose the civic.
It is nice that the civic hybrid hatch will be big enough where you can skip over the way more expensive camry and accord hybrids
Thanks Martin. Excellent job.
Solid review dude! Voice like butter!
Lol on fix a flat 😂
For this much money, I'd take a lower trim accord or camry any day.
Especially since Camry now starts as all hybrid and a much bigger car
Camry maybe. But this has a much nicer and less drab interior than a comparably equipped Accord, which price wise is the ex.
@@Eldaino999 The main reason being is if you have kids or rear passengers you're gunna want rear vents, especially in a hot climate. If the civic had rear vents I would pick a the lowest trim hybrid civic no brainer.
Poor choice.
I couldn't do a lower trim Accord with an ICE. If I was getting either, I'd want an XSE or Touring. I just can't get past the look of the Accord. Right now I'd take a Civc Touring over an Accord Touring.
32k for a civic with no spare tire is wild. Might as well get 2025 Toyota Camry SE for that price.
But the Camry is now where near as attractive or as well built as the civic. You have to get a very expensive trim level to get a nice interior
$32K in general for a civic is wild.
@@naveenthemachine what😂 have you seen the SE camrys? They come in so many styles and for a good price. Them things come loaded.
33K with destination

Always used to buy Honda Civic and then they decided to stop making a civic coupe and they lost my business. I’m single. I don’t need a four-door. I love my new BMW come back. I might come back to Honda someday for now I’m 32 years old and I’m happy with BMW.🎉
Much congratulation on the occasion of Sofyan's marriage! Oh, and thank you for this review.
the tinted tail lights look incredible
@7:51 The Bose audio system WAS equipped on the Sport Touring shown in the video, and IS standard ONLY on the Sport Touring trim... you'll notice that there's a 'Bose' emblem on the front "A"-pillar tweeters.
🔥🔥🔥 Thanks Martin
Hybrid technology is the way to go. I have had the chevy bolt for a year plus now love it but time to get a Hybrid
Congratulations Sofyan. The information and delivery is so easy to follow. Enjoy the honeymoon!
Hondas and toyotas are killing it with these hybrids ❤
Good review Sofyan. You look great!
Lol
Even stepping up to an accord doesn’t get you rear vents anymore unless you up it to a fully specced model.
I’m so glad they are bringing the hybrid over but the fact that a base Prius is cheaper isn’t a good look. I know Honda isn’t as big as Toyota or Hyundai and does a lot more in house but these prices are insane.
You’d be better off buying a base model if you truly want to save money, what’s the point of getting better gas mileage if you’re making it up with a substantially higher car payment?
Excellent job pinch hitting for a pro, awesome car too! 😊 👍🏽😎
Congrats! Great job Martin
Wouldn’t the Civic Hybrid be a direct competitor to the Corolla Hybrid?
Congrats to them! Enjoy! But wow almost 500 miles on a tank, that is insane! I guess Toyota was right, hybrids are a possible solution for the time being.
@ 3:10.......who else wants the Civic to stop growing? It's basically a '90s Accord. (don't get me started on the boat, um Accord)
Almost identical exterior / wheel base dimensions to the 2000 accord…
Am I the only one in the world that could care less about a sunroof.
I'm pleasantly surprised to hear the loaded Civic Hybrid will top out below $35k. Disappointing that they removed the rear USB ports altogether, though. I'll be very curious to see how Toyota responds with an updated Corolla in the next year or two.
They won’t respond. Toyota tried to respond with the 2020 corolla but it still lost badly to a 2016 civic. This won’t be different. The civic has ostensibly outclassed the next gen corolla while it’s being developed
Toyota can redesign the corolla 500 times over and over and they would still fail miserably to compete with the civic in every way
@@naveenthemachinecut it out
Damn, some brutal commenters in here. I think you were great, Martin. Thank you for filling in!
My ‘22 civic had insane road noise. Hopefully they’ve added more insulation.
That's disturbing to hear. Thanks for the insight.
I heard switching tires helps a lot. Also is it really that bad? It is suppose to be a cheaper economy car.
You should've waited til the mid-generation refresh since they're always improved by then.
I’m sure part shortages (yadda yadda) could have played into it. Recently traded it in for a much quieter ride lol.
@@jbarnes1108 What did you get, if you don't mind me asking?
Marty Motoring 🔥🙏🏽
As a first civic hybrid owner back in 2003, with a 2004 model which I put on 183,000 miles on with original rear brakes & exhaust . Before I sold it,new model needs AWD to compete with Prius in cold weather states!
Ever had to replace the batteries?
Yeah I will wait and see how this performs with reliability etc. Been seeing in some other videos they there are quality control issues and lower quality parts used than in previous generation cars. This Civic refresh does have me thinking about sticking with the brand for my next ride though.
I’ve had a 2016 coupe, currently a 2020 hatch. I think this will be next. More power and efficiency, yes please.
I'm looking to get the hatchback version as my next vehicle. I think this blue is the color to go for.
1M Subs, a wedding and a new guy in shorts!😂👍🏾❤️
They keep making the gas tank smaller on the hybrids to cut down weight. This could've easily been a 600+ mi range car with a 13-14gal tank.
Hi Martin! Grats Sofyan!
Congrats on the honeymoon! Hello, Martin! 😉
Ok do a review on the hatchback
Just got this car i freaking Love it 😍
Didn't do the door test like sofyan does does it sound solid then talk bout the materials and features
Sofyan is a pro!
Impatiently waiting for news on the Si
Imo all this needs is an LSD
The Touring is missing two features that the similarly priced Jetta SEL and GLI have:
-Memory driver’s seat
-Ventilated front seats
Since my wife and I are very different heights and we live in the South, this is a deal breaker.
I understand why the lower trim levels don’t have these features, but the top trim level should.
When you got to no charging outlets and no rear set vents my consideration of this car was over for me. Might be nice but it won’t work as a long term car for a family of four.
well done review sir
Mean while Sofyan : i like curves of this model, and leather wrapped bumps in the top is very comforting…
It reaches 0-90 in few seconds
Just something I’d like to point out to everyone- no compact car has rear seat vents anymore except the Kia Forte I’m pretty sure, but who knows if the K4 will have it….. my point is that we shouldn’t expect rear vents in this class, not even an Integra has that
Without a black roof the black mirrors look stupid. Now how does this compare to the newer Insight?
How does it differ from the pre-facelift hybrid?
Did I miss the 0-60 part? Or it’s non existent?
What is the 0-60 on the Non-Hybrid and Hybrid versions of this car?
No thanks! The starting MSRP is more than the 2025 Camry!!! Both hybrids but the Camry is more powerful and gets better fuel economy..
None of the compact competitors have an integrated infotainment system anymore. They’re all like that iPad style.
Yeah I hope that trend goes away eventually...
@@ParanormalMetalManit’s gonna keep advancing😂 not going away.
Subaru Impreza.
I’d really like the new civics if they came with a manual transmission and higher output 4cylinder. But with the CVT and buzzing hybrid engine bay, you might well pony up for a base Model 3.
Fuck toyota
Selling Rav4’s & Prius’s for 55-60k is insane
Honeymoon?? 😏😏🫣
why'd you guys show the thumbnail of a red civic, but review the blue lagoon one. wtf

Great car. I just wish we had the uk options: i like the pano roof, button gear selector and rear vents.
I'm waiting to see what the new hybrid Honda Prelude production model shapes up to be in 2026 or so.

Get rid of that horrendous photoshopped thumbnail
What does Honda have against AWD? Toyota gets it
Honda likes to cheap out as much as possible...
Toyota's hybrid system accommodates AWD by having an extra electric motor powering the rear wheels. There is no driveshaft connecting to the rear wheels. I don't think anyone else does that. The hybrid versions of the CR-V, the Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe, and the Kia Sportage and Sorento, use a mechanical driveshaft to power the rear wheels. Most other hybrids only come in FWD.
But the civic still drives better than an AWD Toyota
@@naveenthemachinetrue but the Camry is damn close now and overall a better value

I really like the wheels on this car! Personally I see them as the best part of the car. Having said that, I'd still rather have the Prius. I like the design more. Except for the steering wheel and thinner wheels/tires. Honda has it beat on those two aspects.

Not just the Prius! I’d go as far to say that this could potentially be an even better value pick than the new Camry. Great car!
Bonjour Martin! Let's see if Honda brings an AWD Civic Hybrid to match the Corolla. Let's see if Toyota upgrades the Corolla powertrain and interior dimensions to match the new
Civic hybrids. Naturally the Civic vs Corolla comparison goes out the window if the Civic hybrid sedan costs as much as the Camry. 😁
Won’t happen. The corolla is officially history. It ostensibly doesn’t exist anymore
@@naveenthemachinebuddy just got ahead and get rid of your 2020 Camry and help yourself to other brands.
