This movie is so funny from the beginning to the end. Meryl Streep's dead pan expressions and comments had me laughing all the way through. She can portray any character and make you believe she is that person.
Yo but she was a "troubled by success" kinda character too. Thats also what elevates the movie from an "ugly duckling" story to an actual compelling drama

Meryl Streep changed the wording to "us" because she thought "me" made Miranda sound too self-centered. Meryl made many other script changes. She insisted that Miranda had to be seen actually working, not just posing and showing off. She is the one who brought the laptop computer to Miranda's desk that she is seen working at several times. Meryl insisted that the scene of the editorial board (staff) meeting be kept in the movie because it showed Miranda as a leader. That scene, by the way, is the only scene in the entire movie that Anne Hathaway does NOT appear in and it is in the movie only due to Meryl's insistence. @@markmh835I think she was so right to push for those details and that scene. Cuz that line is NOT suitable for this video. It's too dramatic. This skit is comical. Too bad they missed "hire the smart fat girl". That line was the best.
@@markmh835 I absolutely love that she did that. It shows how much she understands what makes her character and the movie work, and has thought about how her character would behave in the real world. Instead she's shown to be a perfectionist that doesn't just boss her staff around but she's also insanely knowledgeable and good at her job.
I loved it too. It was a statement of fact. I liked the line in which she discussed the trajectory of the color the girl was wearing: a top designer used it, and then it trickled on down until a couple of years later it was used for a shapeless sweater that wound up in the sale bin at Dress Barn. It’s the same way with interior design and colors used on interiors. My mom is an interior designer and has a special talent for color. If the colors on their sign, etc., are up-to-date, their target market will pass by, feeling that they cannot afford to stay there and do not belong. I am no fashionista. I am the opposite of my mom. I’m just saying that it’s interesting that all of this is on a subconscious level to the consumer, but there are people who are experts on it. That is why Miranda’s observation that the girl had no sense of fashion was a statement of fact rather than a comment intended to hurt. it was an issue of where she put her effort and attention. In fact she had no interest and did not have the knowledge.
