That's why you buy a prefab garage. My gf and I bought a 24x24 (576 sq, foot) 2 car garage for 9k, delivered and assembled, then we rented a spray foam sprayer for $100 a day and spray foam insulated. Total price when we were threw was a little over 16k but to be fair we bought all used kitchen cabinets, sinks, toilet and bath tub from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore then cleaned and repainted them, spent pennies on the dollar and noone knows or can even tell any of it if used.
@@TRISTINASCONNECTION Not really, my step-dad is a retired construction contractor and I worked for him for a while so I have journeyman carpentery skills but there's videos here on RUclips that will teach you how to run a spray foamer and drywall.
If you have a supply list you can sometimes call and talk to different stores. Ask for them to price match. Also if you have a big order. They will deliver sometimes too. We called a local lumber store and a big box store as well. One store price matched and gave us 10% off. Just to get our order. So it is always worth it to try.
Jason you did not have to break the cost down. It's cheaper then buying a house already built with less land and you would put out a whole lot of flow. I'm just thrilled that you,Jared and Danielle are sharing your life with us.
We were considering pole frame construction for a getaway cabin, but it’s nice to hear the breakdown of these other two options. We are not builders, and a shed to house is looking better all the time. Y’all have a lot to be proud of when it comes to sweat equity. 😊♥️
Last yr, my son's friend bought this and we wired it for him in a weekend! Elec hot water tank went under the stair landing. Elec Panel was above that with elec service meter on the N end of the building. Circuits went up through upper and lower stair well walls. Toilet, shower, was under stairs, 30" door on rt end. Kitchen cabinets from stair to bathroom door. Wood stove in S. back corner of liv room. Mini/split AC N end, next to elec service. Upstairs big bedroom and sleeper/sofa down stairs for company. His Tuff Shed roof sagged and walls spread after heavy rains! We pulled the walls back in with come-alongs, Bolted steel cables thru the wall headers, next to each roof rafter with turn buckles in the center for adjusting. Then added an L shaped brace above the ceiling and short vertical 2x4's bracing the center ridge. Building wouldn't have passed a framing inspection as-is but the guys who built the kit weren't framers and there was no inspections out in the country... Glad we caught it in the elec rough in stage!
I liked this Video a lot. Great amount of detail with some antics thrown in. Humor that wasn’t forced or corny but fit the story. I like that it was, I’m guessing, 20% fun and 80% build content with great detail. Keep it up. We’re all getting more productive in Oklahoma now that this crazy hot summer is in the rear window. Keep it up.
Love that you put the fur babies and are so responsible to protect them. They're safe and fine in there at night! This was such a great video!!! nit boring at all.
I bought a Graceland 14x40 and bought it painted, wrapped and with vapor barrier. I bought it right on the edge of the crazy times. I'm in it, but the insulation was not available at the time. I paid cash for the building and materials. Total about $19,200; I got two extra windows and an extra door
New Subscriber here... We started our tinyhouse build and looking to be A LOT cheeper than a bought building. We are keeping a spreadsheet of our estimated build and the actual cost. Cant wait to see how we end up. We are being told we cant do it, but so far we are on schedule. We were also told we couldnt pour our own slab haha. The challenge was accepted and we did it!
Jarod says he isn’t a builder but Jarod makes the place look good before he ever got the building. That means a lot to a person that loves to see everything in order and looking so good and Jason is the builder for sure. Jason it does look awesome all cleaned up. 👍🏻👍🏻
That was very educational the breakdown really helped figure out what it actually cost between the two yes you two are building totally different styles but price-wise you're right there neck and neck right now pretty cool can't wait for the next video.
I like both houses. Both houses will have issues as far as things being a hair out of square. You simply adapt. I do like the comparisons and the reasoning behind each. $50k for a house is a great deal in this economy, and smart too. It also makes great content building each house the way you did so win/win.
Love the special affects in the beginning so cool but then I always love the way you film your video's when you do this or the nature filming. Breaking it down is awesome for those that are wanting to build small or get a shed to home build. Looking forward to your next one. ~peace
JASON- you knocked it out of the park!!!! I love your special effects- thank you for the extra time you spent to give us such perfection!!! I hope Danielle comes back to SDR soon! Blessings! 💜
The skit with the effects is great! Jared’s obviously the more humble one. NOT! 😂 The wonkiness of Jared’s framing is possibly due to the fact that it was delivered after it it was built. You both did what you had to & could, almost ready for winter. I hope Jared’s TX property is sold soon so he can pay off the lease. Good job, both of you.
Hi Jason! That was pretty funny throwing your garbage over to Jared's. Yes it is expensive to build or buy. Luckily the two of you are figuring it out yourselves to save money. I know the inside will be expensive with plumbing, electrical, insulation, cabinetry, fixtures, heating and lighting. One thing for sure though is the satisfaction of knowing you did that yourself and the education of a build. I feel like an extra parent to you boys as I am proud of the two of you for taking on these projects and doing so well. Keep up the good work....I love watching❤
Both of your homes are amazing so far Jason and Jared! Thank you for the breakdown on the cost, that is incredibly useful knowledge.... Can Not Wait to see the End Results of both of the homes, and your different designs that you 3 do❤️
I absolutely loved the skit! Especially the trash winding up at Jared's house 😆😆 With the crazy house prices today that is an absolute bargain. With lumber prices through the roof to boot. I'm happy for you guys, you're both hardworking, savy young men. May you both enjoy many happy years in your house. Stay safe and GOD bless
Great intro Jason!!! Loved that you were able to open up about having supernatural powers and being able to conjure a portal to transfer all of your leftover building materials. I am sure Cold Beer will be wanting to use the same for some of his projects.... Bang, Bang, Shootdang & Carry On!!!
Ya'll are killin it, and the special effects are off the hook!! Awesome job, and definitely worth adding to the edit room. I think the breakdown lists are great, ya'll will be close to each other cost wise. Love ya'll ❤️
Hi Jason & Jared 🤗 was interesting breakdowns & you are both doing awesome job 👌 Jason the CBR video at beginning was fun-- good job👍take care & keep up the good work 🙏🇺🇲
The darn ad got me. Thought I could get first place. Lol. Jason 👋 I am so happy for you 3, to see how far you and Jared have come is so encouraging bc we just started our journey in May and yings helped inspire me to start our channel following it. We still work full time but it shows that it can be done one way or another, to provide for yourself and live the life you want that genuinely makes u happy. Can’t wait to get started on our farmhouse and see where we’ll be in a few years. 😊. You’ve come a long way and it’s only just beginning. So happy for you all and excited to keep following along your journey as you continue making your dreams reality 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
putting the dogs away like that shows love for you pets and being a responsible owner, i left mine out one night and when i woke up in the morning he had porcupine quills in his mouth so then i put him away in the garage every night and had no problems, especially in the winter when it was cold i would heat the garage up a lot of times and he was fine, from what i have seen of spray foam insulation i would do your project and put in other insulation, if you dont need a big home these both look good for a small family, i am in a two bedroom apt about the same size as your houses so layout is really important and i wish you well in your projects
Great video. loved it. That was funny with the magic, making the trash appear at Jared's. Maybe make the dogs a shelter from the spare bits and peace's. Great Idea to keep them beautiful dogs safe during hunting season. You and Jared are doing a great job. Both shed to house look fantastic. ❤ ❤ ❤ 👍 🐶🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
Hey guys That was a great comparison on project costs for each of you. I was quite surprised to see how close the costs were to date. I told you the quickest way to remove the sticky labels from your windows and so here is my next tip for your windows. You are going to find out that you will have a lot of what we call "window sludge" That's dirt from the dust coming off your driveway, blowing out across the field. Grab a bottle of Rain' X. Wash an follow the directions spray the windows off.. start with nice an clean windows and take your time It will keep your windows much cleaner for a much longer time. Jason, I know you would be worried to death once your brother was up on a ladder all the time every day if Jared had built from scratch. I know the rest of us would have been and the amount of ladder work he has now on the inside of the tiny house is enough! And also, you got lucky Jared had a couple items you needed, you would have another window and another door that you would have added onto your build. You two brothers take good care of each other!!! And that is what is important!
Hi guys both houses r great but it come's down to each person has a choice of what they want so it would be boring if every one's house was the same so it makes it more interesting watching both brothers doing it differently than the other you are both doing a great job. x
SHOOTDANG! I love them both as they both are individually unique styles, one is built on a permanent foundation an the other can be easily removed if needed. It’s typically cheaper to build a tiny home then to buy one prebuilt but don’t get to caught up in the savings, Ya may underestimate the job you’re taking on by building it yourself as one small mistake can end up costing extra time an money to fix. 👍🏻 I also love watching the different quality of workmanship in ya both, even though y’all are twins. Ya both have strong, honesty work ethic skills ♥️
Loved the new skit....Great info guys on the cost comparison. I have kids around your age, they are hardworkers too. Can't wait to see what happens next. God bless ya'll!

that's how our dogs sleep at my grandmas farm back in Mexico, and believe me, dogs are happier in opened places and like to sleep under the stars. they grow healthier and happier in an opened place. Not in lock down like most city dogs live, in an apartment waiting to be walked when the owner can, and not when they want as dogs.
Interest on anything will end up costing sooooooo much more. Rent to own is good BUT you are right……pay it off fast. My dad always paid cash for everything!
This is an awesome video brothers. You guys remind me so much of my twin and I. I really enjoyed the comparisons and JASON ALSO BUILT GOAT HOUSE AND another bigger goat house and Jared built frame work for a garage. These places are fantastic and can be added onto as well. I think Jareds Idea to build a bigger Master bedroom is awesom idea so keep following these 2 crafty brothers.
Hey Jason you have really upped your game. Stop watching you before, with your camping in the woods. Nice job on the tiny house. Building mine now in West Texas!
So once you break it down properly and factor in your all your running around for materials, then your fit and finish plus maybe landscaping plus add in the cost of your own time is really worth in dollar value, you will end approximately around the same number.! The only difference is yours is customized to your wants cause of your hard work and Jared will also be very happy with his for half the work
Another thing with Jared's place, while they get the lumber cheaper from local lumberyards, you have to add in labor cost to his building, which y'all didn't have. Jared will be able to pay his off once he gets the deal in Texas finished up. Both places look good. God bless you all and keep you safe
WOW! What a great video, including the special effects! “High-Five” to you for keeping the fur babies safe during hunting season. Keep the videos pumping out, love ‘em! Wishing you, Danielle and Jarod all the best!

Just be careful the shed you buy is well built. I looked at some today where the framing was a joke.
Have y'all bought and done anything yet? What brand did y'all go with?

Another pro of building it yourself: resale value. A stick built home is going to be worth a lot more than a shed building on a skid.
