    ‎"Don Cornelius was a pioneer & a trailblazer. He was the first African-American to create, produce, host & more importantly OWN his own show." Soul Train came on the scene in 1971 and was hosted by Mr. Cornelius from that point up until 1993. The show continued to be the “hippest trip in America” exposing new talent and having an impact on youth everywhere. Think about it, where else on TV would you get to see people dance down the “Soul Train line” to the hottest songs of the moment!

    Don Cornelius did an amazing job in so many areas from poise and self-esteem to empowerment for Black communities worldwide.
    We thank you. Rest in Peace.

    I didn't realize this so many years ago!Poor Don Cornelius. He must have been declining rapidly because he wasn't the same smooth host we knew. But then again, aging and illness can change a person; as it really takes a toll. I hope he knew he was loved in his last hours. So sad. What a way to finish a legacy. Don was the greatest. He had Soul Train going on!!🙏🙏❤🎵🎵

    I danced on The Big Bill Hill show & Don was its Weatherman...the famous commercial was “ you do well to shop at Dell’s”...even then while my fast little self was trying to flirt with Don-he ignored me & was all about the Bizness! RiP

      I also danced on The Big Bill Hill show many times. That’s where I first saw Don while passing him in his booth doing the news. I use to wonder if he had gotten the idea for his show from The Big Bill Hill show.

    What happened in the last moments of his life we may never know. What I do know is that Motown was ' The Sound of Young America' ....Don Cornelius presented to America the Soul
    of Black America. I pray that he is at Peace and I know that he is Loved.

    RIP Don Cornelius. Not only a pioneer in the Black community, but his show and voice / image crossed over to the Latino community. I grew up in the 70's hearing that theme every Saturday morning and remember my mom and dad telling me stories about that show before they'd head out to the club on saturday nights. Give the man his props for bringing together various cultures through the power of music, dance and style.

    So sad! I, like everyone probably remember growing up watching Soul Train on Saturday mornings. That was a great show for me being a little boy back in 1970. Watching this interview is something we needed, but seeing how his mind was slipping a little. Time goes way to fast. RIP brother, I did not know you, but I will see you in Heaven.

    Most black people don't commit suicide because we know how hard it was to come up the rough side. I just wonder why someone would kill them self after speaking of the whereabouts of another deceased person giving them self no doubt the same fate.

    Watching this piss me off. Herb would tell a story it would get denied. Clinton would say something it got played with. Richard tried to make himself valid in the beginning,NO!! If CBS doesn't pick up the pilot there's KNOW!!!7 year contract. James Brown, Aretha, Stevie Wonder, they would not have been there if show wasn't sold. He makes No mention of the Honey Cone who had a hit record {Want Adds} and Eddie Kendricks Keep On Trucking, and me Bobby Hutton. A song Donny Hathaway for me You're my whole reason. I was the only one there in LA, Hollywood and Joe Cobb. We weren't given any credit for our part in the show. Very disappointing. I will not let anyone make light of us the rest of the act on the show. Or our importance. Who knows what sold the whole package to CBS they didn't just buy Gladys they bought everybody including me the lesser known at that time. Don't hate the other acts I'm carrying this on my own shoulders. Let me make this clear I love Gladys Knight. We are not chop liver.

      Linda Hines --- I do believe It all depends on the insurance company & how long the person that committed suicide had the policy & it might take awhile before those that are the beneficiaries receive the money. I know of a case like that after 5 months the Insurance company did pay the beneficiaries - August 21,202O

    • @milesmorris9333
      @milesmorris9333 4 года назад +1

      If you think his suicide was a cover-up, you are sadly mistaken and need to stop reading into conspiracy theories. His health wasn't in very good shape at the time of his death. An autopsy showed that he had been suffering from seizures as a result of an operation he had in 1982. The result of that operation led to him stepping down as the host of Soul Train. And his son Tony said that his father told him, and I quote, "I don't know how much longer I can take this". Now let me ask you, do you have any proof it was a cover-up? If not, then don't say anything else about it.
