Про игры Ледорубов неизменно можно сказать одно: они несовершенны, но необычайны. Может и не гениальны, но откровенны. Pathologic 2 truly captured the essence of dread, and the music wonderfully magnifies this. While games like Silent Hill and Fatal Frame earn their spots for being some of the best horror experiences in video games, I would argue and say Pathologic 2 sits above them all. Wow, that's a precise description of how I felt too This part made feel like I was the character, and I was saying my goodbye to a familiar for the last time, while grieving his lost
It never really made me feel relaxed, not because of any flaw with the song, but because time still passes while you're navigating your item storage and preparing tinctures, so you never really get a breather, not even at home.
ChuckPalomo Same here. On my first playthrough I hadn’t yet realized time was still passing while brewing and managing the storage (after all it’s not part of your inventory, you’re essentially just « looting » a furniture) so when entering the Hideout I felt at home, relaxed and so on. Since then though, going to the hideout is among my more mentally stressful moments ‘cause I try to limit my time spent there as much as possible (after all while you’re lollygagging here you’re not progressing questlines, looting nor healing people) while *having* to sort my stuff and optimize my ressources at some OCD kind of level. Actually I think I’d enjoy it if they added 2 new difficulty option : - stopping time flow entirely when in any form of menu (even looting and brewing). Would make understanding inventory and ressource management even more convenient for newer players or walking-sim kinds of players - having the time flow continue whatever you’re doing, even when consulting the map, thoughts, inventory, etc. (though probably keep the time stopped during dialogue since it would otherwise incentivize skipping dialogue and choosing answers carefully which isn’t immersive, though they could make it so every phrase you exchange with a character would take 15-30sec, incentivizing sometimes shortening dialogues instead of grinding for every information without punishment). That one would immerse you even more in your role of a healer struggling against the clock that can’t even take his sweet time thinking about where to go next. I remember feeling guilty when the steppe folk told me I didn’t spend enough time talking with their people and merging with The Kin. With a « no time stop » option I would’nt have felt any guilt in progressing fewer questlines to focus more on healing individuals
@@ChuckPalomo Even so, the song would always relax me. Maybe because by the time I realized that time passes in inventory menus I had already associated the factory and the song with calm. But I also think the game had made me accept that doing things -- living, takes time. A factory needs time: the time to slaughter a bull or assemble a car. Who can demand more from me?

He had been following me around and making vaguely threatening comments or gestures at me for awhile, and I had been weaving and dodging throughout the mall trying to lose him - but he kept finding me. The dream ended at about 3 am when I was having the life choked out of me by him and I finally jolted awake. I immediately called my partner to talk to them, which I never normally do so late at night. It’s hard to overstate how unsettling the whole thing was.

Hm, strange, I remember how Mushroomer (author of "Pathologic 2" OST) said that they will not use music from original "Pathologic" written by Andriesh Gandrabur becuse it was "simple" - but actually this track "Twyrine" is just a reworked original track by Andriesh Gandrabur... And, besides nostalgia, it sounds really cool. Still sad that Ice-Pick Lodge haven't used the music by Andriesh Gandrabur (Andriesh created a reworked version of his own OST specially for "Pathologic 2" - and it sounds really cool - but for some reason Ice-Pick declined to use it...)
@@N-Devil I read in some interview article bit, that game author and music composer (Andriesh) were having difficult arguments on how it should sound. So there were a lot of conflicts because composer wanted one, author wanted a second thing. If I could remember where I read it...
@@Aredein Oh, it's really sad of course. Still waiting for the moment when Andriesh will release his own new version of the soundtrack - he promise to release it this June
@@N-Devil I'm really torn on this one. On one hand, original soundtrack is genius and mesmerizing. On the other hand, using it again will not have same effect, and would be rather dull move. Is much as I love the original, a mediocre but new and fresh soundtrack is better for the overall experience.
I am glad i got to see and experience pathologic HD and this masterful pathologic 2, where to begin this "short love letter" to this masterpiece? some dialogues triggered memories of the plot early on, but i was mesmerized, although quite a bit of characters died on my blind play-through in pathologic 2, and i felt i was kicked when down, each time being worse, the experience is beyond amazing, of course i am not saying anything new, but i believe few games have delivered such experience to me and many players around the world. the game is ruthless, yet there is beauty everywhere, is enticing, cruel and alluring. the music and ambiance go hand in hand with the works of Satie, and painters such as Remedios Varo and/or Jheronimus van Aken. the stories are compelling, the dialogues are quite the catch, the characters are charming in diverse ways... while is true that you can not save everyone and that victory is not absolute in most of the cases, striving and overcoming some difficulties is empowering, and the difficulty of the game (in my opinion) is quite adequate. yes, i wish i could have saved more people, and reached a consensus before making some choices, i wished to unite somehow two worlds, but it was not possible, and that makes the game unique, that makes the daily fight for happiness worth for. now i add some goals to my list: -Learn Russian, -Read Russian literature properly, -Listen and play more music. not an easy task but it must be done. and obviously can not wait to play as the changeling and the bachelor! hahahaha thank you so much for the upload!

a lot of these tracks use pitch shifting and weird sounds to make the key hard to find, or not there at all. frustrating to the ear, very dissonant. It's made even harder by subtle sounds from weird instruments that are usually off key as well. most songs evoke a feeling of paranoia and creepiness. Also a lot of the songs have a really unsettling funky rhythm that's hard to get a feel for, combine that with all the dissonance and it makes for a really fucked soundtrack. I can't remember which song it is, maybe it's Childhood Grave, that has a woman softly singing in this really sad way and it makes me cry more than any other song, those ones are sad rather than paranoid.

Miracle Workshop is up there with that one Resident Evil 2 Save Room theme in terms of how relaxed it makes me.
Absolutely. For a game that forces times passage on you, that room felt timeless. Tinkering and thinking.
Actually I think I’d enjoy it if they added 2 new difficulty option :
- stopping time flow entirely when in any form of menu (even looting and brewing). Would make understanding inventory and ressource management even more convenient for newer players or walking-sim kinds of players
- having the time flow continue whatever you’re doing, even when consulting the map, thoughts, inventory, etc.

Sidenote, I was studying last night with this in the background and made the terrible mistake of leaving it on when I feel asleep. Dear Jesus I had some fucked up dreams.
EDIT:
My bad I made you guys wait forever for an answer to this! I dreamt about a man who looked a lot like the traveler assaulting me in an old, nearly abandoned mall while all of the bystanders just looked on and ignored my pleas for help.

Amazing soundtrack to an amazing game. Just hearing the first 10 seconds of singing in "Plague Awakes Here" gives me goosebumps.
I am glad i got to see and experience pathologic HD and this masterful pathologic 2, where to begin this "short love letter" to this masterpiece?
some dialogues triggered memories of the plot early on, but i was mesmerized, although quite a bit of characters died on my blind play-through in pathologic 2, and i felt i was kicked when down, each time being worse, the experience is beyond amazing, of course i am not saying anything new, but i believe few games have delivered such experience to me and many players around the world.
the game is ruthless, yet there is beauty everywhere, is enticing, cruel and alluring. the music and ambiance go hand in hand with the works of Satie, and painters such as Remedios Varo and/or Jheronimus van Aken. the stories are compelling, the dialogues are quite the catch, the characters are charming in diverse ways...
while is true that you can not save everyone and that victory is not absolute in most of the cases, striving and overcoming some difficulties is empowering, and the difficulty of the game (in my opinion) is quite adequate. yes, i wish i could have saved more people, and reached a consensus before making some choices, i wished to unite somehow two worlds, but it was not possible, and that makes the game unique, that makes the daily fight for happiness worth for.
now i add some goals to my list: -Learn Russian, -Read Russian literature properly, -Listen and play more music. not an easy task but it must be done. and obviously can not wait to play as the changeling and the bachelor! hahahaha
thank you so much for the upload!

Love this music, shame that it's not on spotify :(
Surprisingly nice while studying ;)
a lot of these tracks use pitch shifting and weird sounds to make the key hard to find, or not there at all. frustrating to the ear, very dissonant.
You'd probably like the ost for the first game, the music is even more alien imo
Dissonance is underated. And the soundtrack is great! But the soubdtrack is still the only thing the first game does better imo. But not by much
