This is a really good Thundercat set. Not only is the mix fantastic and is this lineup very complementary, but he's learned some restraint in his soloing that I don't recall him having five years ago. Definitely makes me want to go out and see another one of his shows!

But comparing his older shows to his newer ones it's obvious to me he's toned down the speed and frequency of his improvisation to something that loudspeakers can actually resolve in a live environment. His brain and his fingers were moving faster than the hardware could keep up with. That's badass but it didn't sound great in the type of venues he plays. He's learned what plays better on stage with time and experience. That's a good thing.

I think many drummers are extraoedinary. I like Yussef Dayes, i reality like già technique. But the Justin Brown, in this live, i find the fluidity extraordinary.
