Be careful guys! Basilisk are historicaly known for turning people to stone! Clint is unaffected because true love breaks the spell and Clint truly loves every reptile he touches
No, no, see, that's the beauty of it. The selective pressure of this scenario is intended to help us all realize that running on water is just a matter of motivation.
"This is a lizard that is nervous and can move very quickly" - shows the basilisk upper body swinging at mach speed left and right, and then just exploding in 30 movements per second from every body part despite being held.
Also as someone who has done a rescue for an improperly cared for basilisk. It is very difficult to bring them back to health once they run into issues. Thank you for making it clear to people that they need a lot of space and high humidity.
Toward the beginning of the book “Jurassic Park,” there’s a girl bitten by a procompsognathus (small dinosaur), and a local biologist initially assumes based on the child’s description of a bipedal lizard that it was a basilisk. While the scene of the girl being attacked wasn’t used in the movie “Jurassic Park” (arguably a very reasonable omission to streamline the plot), it was later used as the opening scene for the movie “The Lost World: Jurassic Park.” As an aside, it’s interesting to think that, given there’s at least a reasonable possibility that these dinosaurs may very well have been feathered, in the hypothetical “Jurassic Park” scenario where they were brought back to life today, a young girl describing the creature might possibly describe it as an exceptionally strange bird, rather than a bizarre lizard.

Oscars are hardy fish but shouldn't be kept by beginners unless they are properly researched. That said they are my second favourite fish of all time (next to clowns)
Me and my girlfriend just got one recently captive bred, he's just a baby as of now. We have a massive water dish for his he loves swimming and I recently bought a 6 foot tank just for him, I plan on making it look amazing with him as the center point
The photo of that Green Basilisk, in the wild, is truly breath taking, thanks for sharing that. Thank you Clint and Matt for this well put together and highly informative video. 👍
For those who aren’t aware, the introduction was directly inspired by ‘Actual Cannibal Shia Labeouf’ and I’d highly recommend watching it here on RUclips. Great opening segment Clint’s Reptile’s!
I literally have no plans to get a pet reptile. I just find reptiles to be such cool creatures and love to learn more about them. Plus Clint I’d clearly so passionate about them and it’s always enjoyable to listen to people talk about things they genuinely love.
I really loved hearing about all the special care and research that is being done to really let these babies grow to their biggest and brightest! Passionate and caring breeders are the backbone of the entire hobby and need to be celebrated.
When he mentioned that the lizards will discriminate between the types of lights moving from one to another . Put the idea in my head that maybe with the help of these lizards a more superior light source could be discovered and created.
Basilisks are amazing. I saw a video of a dog cornering one by a pool, and when the basilisk sprinted across the pool to escape the dog genuinely seemed shocked and confused.
Great video Clint! I've been fortunate enough to spend time at my friends facility and have had the chance to work with three of the four basilisk species. The information you and Matt shared was spot on! These are not good "pets". One truly has to be willing to provide a HUGE enclosure all for a lizard that generally DOES NOT want to be messed with., Beauty has it's costs, but the beauty of a stress free captive born & bred B. plumifrons in a massive display enclosure is hard to beat!
@@orcinusxx4776 going to a reptile zoo is on my top priority list as soon as it will be safe again to do so! but also... what if... you python IS an intelligent witch from outer space......

Clint as much as I love all your videos, I don't always think to click like.. but that intro rip on the Shia Labeouf video cracked me up so bad you got the like in about 5 seconds.
Love the reference. I think it would be really cool if you did a series where you put the highest rated reptile species you’ve covered on the channel in a bracket and scored them head to head based on different categories like the ones you used in your video, “What is the best pet reptile?” Just a thought. Great video as always!
He hasn't done exactly this, but he has done quite a few "head to head" videos where he pairs arguably similar reptiles against each other to see which is the "better" pet. If you haven't seen them already, it sounds like you'd enjoy them! :)
@@beitermf I have. I just think it would be cool to see a bunch of the top animals paired against each other to see what is definitely the best pet reptile using different criteria than his normal videos.
This vlog needs a warning not to be driving during the first 2 minutes. I was cracking up in peals of hysteric laughter, causing great concern for nearby drivers. Relatability to polar molecules could be a relevant new category. Thank you for another "epically rad" video Clint ! Dāv will forgive you eventually 😊

So happy you did this! I'm getting a Basilisk next month! I have a 36x18x36 fully bioactive up and ready to go, his body of water have tiny white cloud mountain minos in it, captive bred incase he eats them. I am so excited about getting my little guy!
What an amazing video! We have these wild down here in south Florida. It looks amazing when they run off so fast, standing up on their hind legs! Such cool reptiles!
I had a breeding pair in a large semi-aquatic aquarium filled with Amazonian fish and turtles. The basilisks definitely stole the show. But man they didn’t like being handled much. And when they got out, it took some skill to catch them.
I had one as a teenager for at least 4 years, he was amazingly friendly and funny very easy to handle when trained. He used to run up the curtain and then when I would call him he used to jump on me, never bit me. was the perfect lizard I had him from a baby and put a lot of time into him, I think that's a must with these lizards as it's in their nature to be skittish

What kind of collar is it Theo is wearing? The black one.
Show was awesome, I totally support you going out to all sorts of new places for closer to nature. Also that intro, truly glorious.
I caught it. Because of it, I think Dav is the one person that put thumbs down on this post hahaha
It was good stuff as always!!
Best intro ever. I think the problem with a Radability score would be that you'd give every animal a 5 for it.
Lol my thoughts exactly!
Shia Labeouf
You do get the reference right
Be careful guys! Basilisk are historicaly known for turning people to stone! Clint is unaffected because true love breaks the spell and Clint truly loves every reptile he touches
They only turn water to stone in this case 🤣 Clint also may be a medusa
Basilisk use satelites to watch over you and keep you in check.
I'm pretty sure the reason Clint is protected is because he is secretly a Parselmouth
They're also supposed to have six legs! This one has only four! I feel tricked! D&D lied to me, I can't believe it!
Oh, phew. I should be fine then!
To be fair, I think we'd all be terrified too if a wild Dave Kaufman was in pursuit.
Especially sprinting on all fours
50%serious 50% hillarious😂😂
Yes but your profile picture made me spat my nonexistent tea
No, no, see, that's the beauty of it. The selective pressure of this scenario is intended to help us all realize that running on water is just a matter of motivation.
Reasonable response haha. If you haven't though, you look up the Shia Lebough musical really quick and see what Clint was referencing with that bit.
You should know by now there is no escape from me. Bwahahaha....deep breath...hahahaha!
Oh my god you followed the basilisk till here!
Clint captured your essence with perfection! You can never say "no one understands me"😊 Rattle on Dāv!
Stop it 😂😂😂
I don't know what I expected for an opening, but it wasn't that
Different from what most people think, breeding basilisks isn't as simple as hatching a chicken egg under a toad.

If anyone would know how to breed Fantastic Beasts, it would be this guy.
Clint, can you get this guy on the show?
your profile pic and comment match up pretty good hah
Lmao
Lol the dramatic intros, don't ever change Clint.

That's the prettiest face I've ever seen on a lizard.
Those eyes are magical.

This is perhaps the last channel I would expect a reference to actual cannibal shia lebouf from.
Shia surprise!

Pros: Alert and active, cool looking dudes
Cons: Kept up all night by sound of lizard faces bonking against glass
You forgot the other pros:
Awesome ability, dope name
Sound asleep at night. No bonking. And they learn the boundaries of the enclosure by day if large enough.
