  • Yo whats up!!
Today I'm super excited to show you a full tutorial on how to copy your favorite t-shirt, from start to finish. I go thru the entire process of making the patterns, cutting them out, & transferring them on to new fabric. I also show you how to sew all the pieces together to create the finished product. I am an influencer overall and now in the beginning designer phase, so I like sharing all the things I'm learning on this amazing journey.
I hope this DIY video tutorial help to inspire you to take on some projects on your own. Please leave me comments and let me know what you think and also let me know projects you would like to see me do. A full style post on how I rocked the t-shirt will be on the blog next week too so stay tuned.

Nice beginner project, Norris. Would like to make suggestions. They're all easy and they help make the finished product look good.
    1. Put your pins in sideways. It's easier to ease your material to the shape you want and easier to take the pins out as you sew.
    2. Iron the shirt you're going to use and the material you're going to make the shirt with. It works better when they're both flat not stretchy.
    3. When you're lining up your fabric to get ready to cut, make sure the grain of the fabric (that place where you can see the knit of the fabric) is straight and even. It keeps the shape better. If you cut it sideways or off the grain the shirt can get a funny shape.
    4. Use a ball point needle. You get them the same place you get material, pins, and stuff. A regular needle can put holes in your Tshirt material because it pokes through the weaving threads. The ball point goes between the knit threads and doesn't tear them.
    5. And last. Show off your finished product. You made this great shirt. We want to see it.

Hi! I am very new to sewing, as in intro/beginners level, and I want to make a T-shirt using a bias cut. From my research it seems like it would have a very elegant, form fitting, stretchier fit. Do you guys have any tips for me on what I should do, and what I might need, that wasn't included in this video?
I know I would cut the fabric diagonally, but that's about it. Should I use a jersey/ballpoint needle? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated :)

Hope the neckband fit because 11.5 plus 9.5 = 21. Then add 1/4 inch seam allowance which gives you a neckband length of 21 1/4 inches according to another tutorial. So many different ways. Sigh.

Hey Norris, I know this was recorded sometime ago but still fresh as ever. I've done this numerous times, but luckily I had an old tee shirt that fitted me perfectly (sadly stained with bleach), so was able to seam rip it into sections, and trace the pieces onto freezer paper! I always come back to this video of yours just to make sure everything is done correctly. Thank you to you and Mimi for creating these high quality videos for us. Bless you guys.

May I offer a couple of tips? First the pins: Always place your pins perpendicular to seam line, that way if you sew over a pin, it won't break your needle. Place the pin from right to left so that you can easily remove it as you sew. Second tip: Do you know that on a sleeve, there is one mark for the front and the back will always have two. That way you will always know the front from the back of a sleeve to match it to the front and the back of your top. BTW, you're a pretty cool guy!
