- The Kubota U27 is here again! Compared to its predecessor, the U27 almost feels like it belongs in the next class up. Even though the specifications appear nearly identical, the operator's platform has substantially more space. This machine also has several new and welcomed features including a mechanical diverter on the end of the boom, protected hydraulic lines, many additional chain hooks, and more. Neil walks around the Kubota U27 to point out what makes it stand out from previous models.

My husband just bought a new u-27-4 he loves it.
When I go to my local heavy machinery yard sometimes the sales guy looks at me sideways when I start dropping all your stats that you give me Neil. Helps me make informed purchases. If you were in my country I'd come see you for sure!
Thank you for doing these videos Neil, I’ve been watching for a few years now and your videos have always been super informative. Especially now with the way markets are, a lot of the time dealers don’t have a lot of inventory sitting on the lot to go look at. So having these very in-depth videos into equipment has been a great resource.
Agreed, the videos are invaluable, I could have gotten a cheaper machine locally, but I drove 3 states to get a Kubota from messicks purely because of these videos, but once I visited their staff and facility I just can’t imagine going anywhere else.
I have to say this is a excellent video! Haven’t seen a comparison video like this and it was super helpful! I’m tossing up between both machines and this has helped incredibly!
I'm leaning towards the new U27-4 I'm glad you did this video.
"I would give up 6 inches for 25% more power." -Neil
There’s a joke in there somewhere…
So that's how women were made
It always gets back to the dipper stick.
Neil, great video. I appreciate learning even though I am not in the market for a excavator.
Surprised that you didn't mention it, but the U27 appears to have a more offset boom. Great for hugging closer to a foundation. Or is it just an optical illusion on my part ?
We've got the KX-71 and love it but I see a lot of nice features in that new model U27 that I would like to have!
Thats what she said.
Yall know what Im talkin bout dont ya Neil… lol
I lucked in buying a used U27 2019 with cab last year with around 700h. It looks small but once in it, it feels big. I was looking at a KX033 new. But payments for a new excavator where way higher and specs didn't justify it compared to the deal I found. Overall, I really like having it at hand. The cab only has heat, no A/C. The only backside is the small footprint makes it prone to tip on sides with a load in bucket. At least, it doesn't destroy too much the lawn around the house. It's quite strong for the size and digs deep. I do miss having pedals for moving, any non pricey option to recommend ? Using solely on my property and keeping it well greased as an investment :) With my B2301, I can tackle all my work myself, albeit slowly but much faster that with a shovel ! Thanks Neil for your continued information on equipment !
How did you avoid giggling at 3:07?
What are the difference between “U” and “KX” mini excavators? I’m familiar with the KX models. Thanks Neil, always fun to watch and informative!
U's are zero tail swing
I find the U less stable than a KX, but if you need to work in tight space, you need a U or you may hit something with the back, as a KX will have the weight protrude "outside of your tracks", as a tail swing and may hit a house or something. If you turn the cabin 90 deg, a U will not move pass the tracks while the weight of the KX extends further outside. Zero tail swing means counter weight closer to center and a bit less stability when swinging the bucket with stuff in it or picking up heavy things too far.
Is the
Cab better than open cab
There's no AC for the 27 so I went with open cab. I live in Florida, so I decided to go with open cab for the summer heat. so far, it's been all good
I have a U-25 and I agree, the cab is too tight.
3:07 well she didn't want to give up 6 inches for 25% more power ...
just got one for $46,000 new
I think his brain wasn't working when he posted this because that ain't 6 in if you do the math it's 10 in
Being built in Germany vs Japan seems like a huge downgrade.
How is Kubota with Right to Repair? Are they as nefarious and evil as John Deer?
