@Zedrik Allen Man, the early years of gen 3 had the jankiest fucking cheat codes. I remember having to have a particular Bad Egg from like a 64-line code just to make the next Pokémon spawned shiny. It was probably like 2008 or 2009 before someone came out with an 8-line code that made all spawns shiny 🤦♀️

I never realized how difficult it was to get to Mirage Island. It's crazy to think just how lucky I was
I did this exact thing a few years ago, just for fun. Also, it was the best way to legally get a liechi berry... It’s crazy how much of us stumbled across Mirage Island by accident as kids, seeing now how difficult it is to do. Truly a magical mirage experience. Cool times
It's crazy that I found it within the first 5 tries when I was 13. I remember reading about in the strategy guide, then checking daily. At the time, I didn't even know it was a rare occurrence. I thought it was something you could do weekly. I never checked again because I didn't see the point of going back to get more wynaut's since you already got one from the egg in lavaridge town.
Wow! I didn’t know this was so rare! As a kid, I just randomly stumbled onto it, and always wondered if I had ever went there. I remember all the wynaut. As a kid I thought it was stupid lol.
@Dominic1337 oh yeah, lie about something in Pokemon for clout. Brilliant. Just to remind you it's like 1 in 8500 to find a shiny, and it can be the very first wild encounter. It's standard statistics. 50/50 chance to flip heads and you can get 30 heads in a row. Unlikely, but not impossible.
@Dominic1337 do u know how small the odds are that the universe came to be? or how unlikely it is that its going to be you who is born? yet here you are
And there are millions upon millions of people playing the game multiple times. That means over a thousand people wíll have encountered the island first try. Statistics.
I remember swimming through that route before and seeing the island. At first I thought that I somehow missed it because I could of sworn that I never seen the island the many times I swam through there but wasn't for sure.
Wow this is insane to watch after all these years! I was told as a kid it was through trainer ID numbers in your party Pokémon so I always went back with a party full of trades, that's crazy
@@Sephazon I remember years ago I saw a list of games you could buy from this one magazine and one of them was Sonic 4. That game did not exist, it was just a misprint.
This information makes me reevaluate my luck, I got 2 mirage island appearances back to back as a kid, but I also won the radiostation lottery in several games (small prizes, I think the vitamins)
For many years I thought that the mirage was just the island with the tower were you find Rayquaza. Some said that it was a different island but then I thought it was the island were you find Deoxys when you trigger the event but I've never been sure of which was the real mirage island. Thank you for finally clearing my doubts :)
I literally thought that, so I never minded the old man 😂 When I heard you could sometimes not see Mirage Island in a dead battery, I always prayed we could see it when we started the game, and every time I saw Rayquaza there, I was so relieved!
The Hoenn games were always my favorite. First Pokémon game I ever beat by myself. So many great memories. I hope Pokémon will return to it’s former glory one day.
Same here I miss battle frontier.. it was so hard as a kid it would make me rage so much.. but the dopamine release i got from beating my first brain!! Was amazing!!
I don’t think the games will return as great as ruby/sapphire/emerald from 2002. I loved running through the rain puddles and seeing the clouds reflected. Such atmosphere. Can’t remember any game that had this
I went there playing ruby as a kid, talked to the old man only a couple times having no idea how anything worked, and he told me saw the island. I went there, and thought it was neat. Over 15 years later now it freaks me out finding out how rare it is, and that until now, did not realize any significance. I literally thought it was a normal option to check out in a play throughs this whole time.. blows my mind! 🤷 holy crap
I really miss these types of mysteries in the pokemon games. Sapphire will always be my favourite. From trying to figure out Mirage Island to learning braille as a kid was funny AF. Thanks for this video 🔥🔥🔥
Man, my sister and her friend played this and would check every day to see if they could go in the island, but never saw it. It's almost more of a myth than Mew. Thanks for some resolution on this!
I found this island as a kid, unbeknownst to me how rare it really was. I remember feeling pretty underwhelmed; "Wynaut?? Wobbufet sucks.. And a berry? I dont even use berries!" I just left without thinking anything of it. I dont think I even cared that I never saw it again after lol.
I checked for this island everyday as a kid. I admit i thought it worked differently, i didn't have a clue at first what made it appear and the years passed, i heard it was about matching your ID and having other ID pokemon in your BOX (didn't realise it was a team thing) would work, considering this is how the lottery corner drew its tickets i figured it made sense. Annnyways, by chance once i got to go there, literally jumped out my chair when he said he can see it, instantly saved and floated on over. It was so cool to finally be there but its pretty underwhelming how there is nothing really there. My berry was really just a souvenir and the only way people even believed i went - not that many friends cared as this was like 3-5 years after the game released. I kind of wish they did more with the island, let you get another starter or put some national dex pokemon in the grass or at the least give you stacks of the rare berries. Just something to make it worth a bit of the near 0% chance you would see it.
Hitting the RNG manipulation in 4 attempts is pretty neat. I remember spending days doing it for a Latios, since you also had to find it afterwards. Anyways, great video!
It is not that difficult to do. Just have a pokemon around Latios's level and use a repel and go to the place in the game where the cycling road is. It has to appear there eventually since the game is reloading the screen over and over again. There even is a video that I saw covering this exact topic. I am not sure if anyone really knew this a kid, though.
Also there is technology now to load the eon ticket directly to your game without using the link cable and physical eon ticket. You will have to use/borrow a DS Lite/DS Phat to make it work, though. Once is you will need, though assuming that you met the criteria in the game already. There is a file that been around for a while now, I think, that will allow the user to the other event tickets only one at a time after saving after picking up the other one: minus altering cave downloaded to your other pokemon games as well. I know that I found the webpage to download at a long time ago. Nintendo is perfectly fine with it being used. They have way more event pokemon for the games than they actually need.
Just be warned in advance that even though the game might infact download the Old Sea Map onto Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green, the game will initially treat the ticket like the Aurora Ticket. I found the official proof by Nintendo talking about it their official magazine(?) segment that I found trying to find out more information about the tour across America with them distributing the Aurora Ticket. They fully knew of people cheating the games to get the event islands as well.
ive never bin to mirage island and i hope someday i will but watching this video and seeing you make it there, it gives me hope. Im so glad you were able to make it to where most of us haven't. I can hear it now climbing those stairs and reaching the top screaming "I FINALLY MADE IT TO MIRAGE ISLAND HAHA"
I remember checking everyday as a kid with the same full party, thinking one day it may show up, I didn't realize then how lucky I was after seeing what it takes to get there in this video. I remember thining it was a randomly picked day and eventually it would show up, I was so happy when it finally did show up! I raced to it before it could vanish again, when I got there I caught a bunch of wynauts and got the berry. Tbh I was a little disappointed because it was the only pokemon there, still I was so happy to finally get to the island. I remember saving on the island, playing the island next day, saving on the island, and not leaving for a couple days lol, very cool to still see it there lol, I mean if I save on the island it can't vanish with me on it right? Eventually I did leave and was never able to get back, but getting there was all I wanted so it's okay
So awesome to hear this I remember a kid at school saying he got deoxys going there after day 100 my game never passed like day 40 lol another kid showed me his and he was like on 140 tried to go to moon and nothing so disappointed when I actually found out 😆
Ahhhhh, memories. I remember it like it was yesterday, but it was actually a year and a half ago now. I was looking for a near perfect ditto in emerald by using the same tools as you. That and a perfect latios. It was REALLY tedious but I ended up getting a 4 perfect IV ditto and a modest 3 perfect IV latios, so I'd say it was worth it! It made the battle frontier wayyyyyy easier. No way I'm ever going to try that ever again...
it's amazing to me this is so rare, i honestly never knew... I've been there twice, in two different playthroughs, and never thought anything of it. i wonder what happens if you save on it and reload once it's disappeared?
I’m pretty sure if you save and then play on the next day that you will spawn on the island normally, but as you exit into a different route, then it will be gone when you come back.
This is why Gen 3 is cut above the rest in terms of adventure and exploration. Mirage Island is one of a kind event mechanic I actually hoped to be passed down on new generations. What's more my cousin also studied braille in order to decode Regi trio puzzle, pre-internet era makes this game mysterious and even with an internet now, its still mind blogging to see the odds to trigger it even if we're aware of that possibility. However now, we only get generic new maps on mainline games with no hidden easter eggs on it.... such a shame.
Pokemon AZ switch 2 is even gonna be worse, i just love the simplicity of 2002 what pokemon used to be. Not as barebones as gen2 and not as polluted as gen4.
@@sephikong8323 Nah, I got those two separately on the same save, not on the island. I just went there, thought "wow, this was dumb", and left. I thought it was the wrong place, and figured when I found the sky pillar that this was the right location. Did get 3 shinies on my first Soul Silver save, though. Favorite shiny starter was one of them. Shame a drunk relative sold it later 🥲
I remember thinking this island was just a joke by the devs- a legend, a rumor. Not real. Even with Ruby and Sapphire being my first- and favorite OG Pokemon game... It wasn't until Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire that I learned Mirage Island DID exist. ...And by god it's beautiful to finally see it. I know it's a bit random to thank a random video on the internet; but thank you for making this video.
I did manage to reach Mirage Island precisely once, in my old Sapphire game. I knew it was a rare thing but I can appreciate how rare it is now thanks to this video
I came across it twice, once in ruby and once in emerald. I was old enough to know that it had to be for something, not just wynauts lol. But it’s cool to learn the story behind it
Awesome video. I remember talking to the guy looking out the window so many times as a kid hoping one day the island would appear ... what a throwback this video was
I reached the island randomly around a decade ago, I was there for maybe 3 minutes thought it was a boring place and left it. I never actually knew how hard it is to get there or what the place was..
4:49 Listening to this music reminded me how much time I spent playing gen 3 pokemon. It was my favorite and I was old enough to know what to do, so my first i ever beat/invested time into all the secrets, especially emerald version. Such nostalgia hit me, reminding me of my childhood.
Legend handed down from generation to generation in my family brought me here. Been searching for decades but the weather hadn't been right until today.
Edit: I did it: I got it to work! Thanks so much for the vid, it helped a lot! I'm going to write some extra info about it in a reply to this for anyone also attempting to do this on Emerald. As you explained your set up more and more, I realized that I have a cartridge with the correct situation already! It has a save file started in 2018 with a long-dead battery, and I have the Anorith fossil in my inventory. I might set up the eon timer and give this a shot!
A couple important things: If you're attempting this and using Pokefinder, the value to put in the Seed box for Emerald is 0. I had a difficult time at first because I was using 5A0, which is the seed for Ruby and Sapphire. Second, the target frame for Emerald is going to be 18625. My ending values for the Eon Timer in this case were Calibration: 568, Pre-Timer: 5000, Target Frame: 18625. I implore you to calibrate the timer yourself if you can, but I figured it'd be worth mentioning what worked for me using an english Emerald cartridge on a GBA SP. Don't give up! I managed to hit literally every single frame around the correct one before getting it finally! But you can do it! Good luck!
Great video! This was one of my first RNG manips a few years ago. Used my original Emerald save from back in the day (dead battery) after backing up the save with a cart dumper and reading the HEX lines. Amazing feeling to finally see the island!
I had no idea about the mechanics of the island, I always thought it was for the Deoxys event only. I played this game non-stop as a kid and never stumbled on it This was a great watch my man, your channel is a treasure!
If only, if only this information was available to me as a kid. I could have visited this location and checked this off my to-do list. Thank you Goppier for uploading this.
I used to think that after my cartridge battery ran dry, I had no hope in ever finding Mirage Island. I kept buying more replacements only for more batteries to run dry. It wasn't until now I learned that this curse is a blessing.
So am I right in thinking that you can now go back to that island whenever you want if you take that Anorith? That’s awesome. I remember using RNG manipulation to shiny hunt on my copy of Emerald, but it never occurred to me that I could get a Mirage Island pokemon too. Oh well
I had no idea it was that rare. I visited this island many, many times during my playthroughs of the gen 3 games. Like, it was so common for me to go to that I genuinely thought it was based somehow on the days of the week like drifloon in gen 4
I stumbled on Mirage Island as a kid and traded liechi berries I grew from the one on the island to myself for multiple generations. Those things were like my prized Pokémon possessions for a long time lmao.
I can’t believe i randomly stumbled upon something that required such luck. I was just flying around and saw the island and wondered “wait… has that always been there?” then i went on the island and explored for a bit before i basically said “boring” and left and then the island disappeared. i did talk to the old man at some point after the encounter and learned that he can tell me when it could appear but i didn’t really care about finding it a second time. reminds me of the time when i saw someone with a shiny exeggutor and i didn’t know what shiny Pokémon were so i didn’t care but i did think the sparkles were a little cool though. Obviously now i know what shiny Pokémon are but its crazy i had something with possibly a 1 and 8000 something chance, happen to me and i couldn’t even reap the rewards of it. Or maybe i could of but didn’t know how. Honestly i don’t even know what happened, i think it might of been a random npc in a building showing off their Pokémon and it was shiny but i can’t really remember any part of context to go with it.
Ah I did this trick with the Kecleon outside Fortree on Emerald. You do have to calibrate for the appearing cutscene but I'm pretty sure I used the exact same frame haha
I found it in my Ruby, I thought the island appeared if the lottery number matches the player ID. I used to ope my game every single day to go and check for the island and one day, after years it just happened ❤ I also went to check the lottery and it was not my ID, so I was very confused 😂 I saved my game on the island and never moved from there. Also took a lot of photos to remember the moment ❤ I still have it, those were awesome times.
Maybe I imagined it but I could've sworn I ended up on this island once, or at least saw one of my friends in 3rd grade reach it. They all beat the Elite 4 before me, but honestly I think that was because that was the goal for them: beat. the. game. Me, I think I was just getting lost in a little wonderful world. What a great game this was. What I did have that my friends didn't was a blue shiny numel I met on Fiery Path! Very cool video btw! You'd definitely win all the smart poke contests if you were a pokemon.
I swear in my first playthrough of Sapphire I was able to get to Mirage Island but was so confused as to why I couldn't get back to you. I though it was tied into the Kyogre story. it's insane the things the Pokemon devs thought of.
Very cool video! I didn’t know you could guarantee getting to mirage island this way. Though there’s a cruel irony in needing to use a dead battery because you won’t be able to grow more liechi berries (without using another cartridge).
@@bbb_888 The gba used flash memory for saves, and the battery is only for the clock. So the save data would be fine. And actually now that I think about it more, I’m pretty sure that replacing the battery would allow growing berries again because you started the save file with a dead battery.
This place was so hyped up as a kid, all the time I heard "this is where you find deoxys" or something similar, jirachi, mewtwo i heard it all. I used to check every day and was starting to believe it wasn't real. Then one day I saw the magical words "oh I see mirage island today" I could hardly contain my glee as I rushed over to it... ... Got a couple berries at least
Reading the comments i remembered that i managed to get the Master Ball from the radio at pokemon Crystal. I was not expecting that and when i tried again with another save i didnt got it. nowadays i understand how lucky i was back then xd
Holy shit, I swear a memory was unlocked when I saw the text of the old man saying “I can see MIRAGE ISLAND today” but as a 9yr old I didn’t know what that guy was talking about, I might’ve actually had the chance to go to mirage island but I didn’t know it, too bad I sold my games
So what I am learning today is that in my maxed out playtime Emerald, my attempts to reach Mirage Island using the already caught pokemon were futile. Well dang. As for why I had maxed out playtime... Battle Factory. If you've played it you probably can piece it together from there.
I can’t be the only one who loves these insanely random, low chance to get, low reward random events from old games. Yeah it can be kinda annoying knowing somthing like this exists and is locked behind rng you’ll never actually get… but there also this kinda magic to stumbling across things like this
What happens if you put a new battery after finally getting to Mirage Island? Will time work again? The most relevant thing about the island is the single Liechi berry, but IIRC there's no way to grow berries if the internal clock is not working, so there's no way to get more Liechi berries after you use the single one you can find.
If I'm not mistaken, the new battery will not begin to pass time until it hits the point the old battery stopped working. There's a quirk that forces it to count from day zero, so it'll have to catch up to day X (where X is the last tine the clock updated) to continue.
Those the PV gets preserved when exchanging pokemon?, because if so, I think you might be able top do this without taking out the battery. Get the pokemon needed in Emerald since the clock is already broken and then transfer to whatever game you want the island to appear (of course after making a new savefile), get to pacifidlog within a day and you're done.
You'd be able to do the RNG manipulation for the Pokémon in Emerald, yes, but you would need external tools to figure out the hidden value for Mirage Island on a cart with a working battery.
I actually remember being on this island but I don't remember working so hard for it. Or maybe I just remember seeing old videos about it and checking with the old man every day. Pokemon really taught me patience as a kid.
I've always wondered, what happens if you save your game on Mirage Island? Does it stay the next day (assuming you have a working battery)? Does it unload as soon as it has the opportunity? If not, could you theoretically permanently keep it there by always remembering to return to it to save?
It will stay there as long as you're on the island. The island will despawn when you get off the island and go to a different route. The same thing will happen for example if you put the Anorith I had in the box. The island will only be there if a Pokemon in your party had a PID that matches the Mirage Island value

@Zedrik Allen Man, the early years of gen 3 had the jankiest fucking cheat codes. I remember having to have a particular Bad Egg from like a 64-line code just to make the next Pokémon spawned shiny. It was probably like 2008 or 2009 before someone came out with an 8-line code that made all spawns shiny 🤦♀️

it does

How on earth does NOBODY else remember the more definite means of accessing the mirage island!? When I was 12 and playing this game for the first time, rumor spread around around the schoolyard that at exactly 200 hours of playtime, mirage island would appear for that one minute between 200:00 and 200:01. Me and my buddies left our GBA SPs on charging with the game running over night for a couple of weeks until we reached the 200 hour threshold. Surely enough, for each of us, at exactly 200 hours, the island became visible for that single moment. It seems like nobody on the internet knows/remembers this. I can’t be misremembering this. This is a shared experience between my friends and I. Is there anyone else out there who has done this to access the island? It can’t be just me and my Jr. HS buddies.
@@HarrisonBG I'm gonna figure out a way to test this once I get my PC set up
@@HarrisonBG That is not true. Are you very young or why would you lie? The actual mechanism was explained in the video
I never realized how difficult it was to get to Mirage Island. When I was a kid I ran the battery dry just from usage and I must have been lucky enough to have the correct apperance value and PID on one of my main pokemon because I remember being able to the island whenever I want. It's crazy to think just how lucky I was
Insane bro
I did this exact thing a few years ago, just for fun. Also, it was the best way to legally get a liechi berry... I RNGed a Kecleon that triggers Mirage Island, because it just seemed fitting that a pokemon which can disappear and reappear should trigger it. I really enjoyed your concise description of the process!

Me too. I stumbled upon on my first play through back in middle school. Had no idea it was so rare for it to appear.
@Dominic1337 do u know how small the odds are that the universe came to be? or how unlikely it is that its going to be you who is born? yet here you are
I’ve been there too. It’s just luck. You should grow up instead of calling everyone a liar.
I remember watching my older brother stumble into this when we were kids and now seeing this makes me cherish that memory even more.
I love how people are still making Gen 3 videos nearly 2 decades later. It is amazing!
I remember trying so hard to get to that island.
All these years later, and it forever remained a mirage…

Pokemon Emerald was the first pokemon game I put a ton of hours into. By far my favorite region as well.
underrated
Especially now you can get infinite Mew in BD/SP just by having Sw/Sh savedata.
*cries in wobbufett and wynautt being banned 3 gens straight*
I played Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald years ago. Never got to Mirage island ever.
Never did I go to the moon either
the moon is just an urban legend, the closest you could get was an event item in emerald that let you go to birth island and catch deoxys
So awesome to hear this I remember a kid at school saying he got deoxys going there after day 100 my game never passed like day 40 lol another kid showed me his and he was like on 140 tried to go to moon and nothing so disappointed when I actually found out 😆
I am glad I found this channel. I love how you pick apart the questions we all asked when we were younger. Thank you!

Good luck!
Congrats on getting it to work! Happy the video could help you!
I had a dead battery. And all these years, I thought I could never go to mirage island. Thank you for giving me hope
Great video! This was one of my first RNG manips a few years ago. Used my original Emerald save from back in the day (dead battery) after backing up the save with a cart dumper and reading the HEX lines. Amazing feeling to finally see the island!
Fun and fascinating video! You’ve revived a childhood memory of mine. I wish Pokémon games still had cool things like this!
I had no idea about the mechanics of the island, I always thought it was for the Deoxys event only. I played this game non-stop as a kid and never stumbled on it
This was a great watch my man, your channel is a treasure!
Deoxys is on Birth Island. You will need the Aurora Ticket to reach it
If only, if only this information was available to me as a kid. I could have visited this location and checked this off my to-do list. Thank you Goppier for uploading this.
This is such a well done video!
I hope you grow in your channel, you really deserve it.
Oh well
As long as the value of mirage island doesn't change then you'll be able to visit it as many times as you want
time to hunt that shiny wynaut bro
It seems like your channel and most particularly this video just blew up, and for good reason! Make more stuff, love your style!
This video made my day! So awesome!
Actually spent months trying to get to this shitty island without a clue about how fucking unlikely it was :/
This to me is like a perfect illustration as to how difficult these games were. Like all this to get a decent berry
Dio gained the ability to stop time just so he can get infinite liechi berries.
This is a really sick video. I've seen stuff about mirage island but its usually just an explanation of the rarity and then gameshark to trigger it.
I found it in my Ruby, I thought the island appeared if the lottery number matches the player ID. I used to ope my game every single day to go and check for the island and one day, after years it just happened ❤
I also went to check the lottery and it was not my ID, so I was very confused 😂
I saved my game on the island and never moved from there. Also took a lot of photos to remember the moment ❤
I still have it, those were awesome times.
I remember checking every day for this island as a kid before school but never got to it
I’ve gone to Mirage Island without realizing how rare it is… 🤣 I was just playing emerald one day and saw that you could go in so I was able to go.
Spent too many times asking this old man if Mirage island was visible as a kid, but I don't regret any second of it. haha
I respect your determination and this, was the most beautiful thing I have seen today. I miss the good old days.
Given that rarity, I guess it's forgivable that I thought mirage island was something new for the remakes.
Good point. I guess replacing the battery (after getting Liechi Berry) erases your save file, right?
@@bbb_888 The gba used flash memory for saves, and the battery is only for the clock. So the save data would be fine.
And actually now that I think about it more, I’m pretty sure that replacing the battery would allow growing berries again because you started the save file with a dead battery.
This place was so hyped up as a kid, all the time I heard "this is where you find deoxys" or something similar, jirachi, mewtwo i heard it all.
I used to check every day and was starting to believe it wasn't real. Then one day I saw the magical words "oh I see mirage island today"
I could hardly contain my glee as I rushed over to it...

wonderful.
Technically the odds are far lower. Pokemon can have overlapping personality values. It's absolutely going to be more difficult with a full box.

I had over 500hours on the hoenn games back then and semi actively tried to get to the island, but never did….

Yeah it can be kinda annoying knowing somthing like this exists and is locked behind rng you’ll never actually get… but there also this kinda magic to stumbling across things like this
This is a great video actually
keep doing this and you will grow big
Although after 3 mins I couldn't understand shit
But I will support you 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you! That really means a lot!
Nobody will believe me but I went to the Island twice when I was a kid. I played A LOT.
That ending was more emotional than I anticipated 😭
This is sick! I wanted to ask, did you hit the frame when you recieved the anorith, or when you started the dialogue with the scientist?
I hit the frame when I received the Anorith
This was well researched and well written! Thank you for your dedication to this subject!
Where Misty released her Togepi :(
wow your videos are amazing. they must take a lot of time to make so respect to that. keep up the good work man!!
Oh my I thought finding Mirage Island was linked to the Pokémon's ID
I subscribed because of the effort that you put in to this attempt, great job
I'm not sure, but from another comment it will disappear if you go to another route.
It will stay there as long as you're on the island. The island will despawn when you get off the island and go to a different route. The same thing will happen for example if you put the Anorith I had in the box. The island will only be there if a Pokemon in your party had a PID that matches the Mirage Island value
And here I thought it was just a pitifully low random chance every day. What a great video.
Young me not having done my research, tried spamming the grandpa until he said he could see the island. Which of course made me waste 2 days of my time
