I'm in complete agreement with you Jennie Huang. First of all, that's not a good durian. The color doesn't look right and the shape of it seems like a bad one.
I think the durian that they ate are not ripe yet, it suppose to be yellow-orange color. And durian have grades level, a good one can cost you around $30

I had the same reaction when I ate the durian from the states. The best durians are the ones fresh and just fallen from the tree. It only grows in south east Asian countries . The ones they tasted is frozen and been stored for a long time I'm guessing.

There just a Two kind of human for this fruit
1. If you like it, you Will love it so much more than any other fruit
2. If you Dont like it, you Will hate it more than any other fruit
They peel that wrongly and they don't know how to choose ripe durians. It's actually really good and sweet.
To those who've never eaten durian, and are confused as to why they all taste different things:
1) Durian flesh typically has a golden colour when ripe enough to be eaten. This is definitely underripe.
2) The flavour of a (ripe) durian is sweet and creamy. It has a slight bitterness and slight sour-ish funkiness (a little bit like fermented foods, it's not acidic but there's an odd funkiness) to it sometimes, but these were probably stronger because of it's underripeness. This vast variety of flavours is probably why some tasted creamy and sweet popcorn, while some tasted onion.
3) The texture of durian is really thick. It's a little bit fibrous too, like long fibres with thick, heavy af cream on it. Some of these people ate the whole seed at one go, which is both gross and scary. We take small bites.
4) The SMELL of durian is, well, heavily debated on. Even some people over here in Singapore where I live in or Indonesia where I come from dislike it, though some love it. I personally love the smell of it, I think it smells ripe and fruity. I guess you could smell some level of phermone off of it in the sense that it smells a little musky, but not sour or acrid the way sweat smells.
Real, good durian is incredibly rich and very flavourful and sweet. Seeing them ALL spit it out makes me sad :(
Yo I live in Scandinavia and had wanted to try durian for ages. I was finally able to get my hands on some in the town I live in. Got to admit, it was expensive and I found the smell to be horrible. However, I did try it and it was probably one of the most delicious things I've tasted in my life. I loved the texture and found it to taste like a mix between banana, custard and quantaloupe melon. I will define try the fruit again if I ever get the chance.

Things you should know before trying a durian for the first time! (Based on my perspective on how it tastes)
1. The smell is exactly like the taste
2. For new people, it might taste like a garlic custard. After taking a couple more bites, it probably won’t taste like that anymore.
3. You might find yourself loving it after a couple times of eating it.
4. The texture is like a custard, with soft strings.
5. It has to be yellow (ripe) for the best experience.
6. Eating a frozen one doesn’t taste as good as fresh ones
7. You can either find the smell amazing, or really bad. It’s a hit or miss.
*FIND SOME GOOD DURIAN BEFORE YOU ATE IT.*

Durian is basically a russian roullete but in the form of a fruit. As far as I know, the worst taste is the tasteless one. And if you're lucky, it's quite sweet. The smell that sticks on your hand after touching it is annoying though.
