    I have to admit that your explanation and fix for the dreaded over the top was very understandable as that is/was my problem and occasionally still is with the ‘hit’ instinct inbuilt within us all until put right. Bravo sir!

    I have just taken up golf with my partner, he has been playing for 35 plus years, I found your videos and you have helped me no end, I’m taking lessons at my local golf club and your grip videos have given me the big thumbs up from my instructor. I think Danny is by far the best instructor. Very well explained. I find to fix all my errors all I do is slow my swing down. Usually I lash at it and it's too quick to think about. Slow it down and I can generally think about arms, position etc before I've hit the ball and my results have been much better than I could have possibly expected . Yes I don't hit it so far but who cares, it's straight but not far apposed to a long way but in the trees.

    Brilliant, thanks so much Danny! I works perfectly ! Every coordinate on Earth has longitude and latitude. (Up and Down). That's how we can get there accurately. The understanding of the winding UP on back swing and then DOWN first, followed lastly by unwind was pure gold for me! I suffered from the over the top quite a bit. To compound things, when no 'down' first, when I start unwinding directly from the top (as instinct wants to hit the ball) , it also jammed my weight transfer and I ended up with the weight on the the back foot, the body (hips) backing away from the target, specifically with the driver. To make the undesirable golf trifecta, over the top creates the ugly hook for me , as the hands desperately try to save the shot by flicking...Anyway, I am describing lots of compounding issues here not to ask for compassion , but only to substantiate that I have resolved quite a few flaws based on your advice ! Top notch channel and great golf instruction!

    Before this video, not coming over the top was as likely as me taking a divot, which is to say it was basically impossible. This video clearly explained what I should be trying to accomplish. Voila! I'm on the right track to hitting the ball from the inside. Thanks, Danny.

I suffer badly with over the top and would love to send you a few clips of my shots for you to check. Also with my over the top I think it’s why 99% of my driver and 3 woods are slices.

    This lesson is for me. I can't stop coming over the top. Had a great swing once everything out the middle of the club and straight with great flight i.e draw with distance. I've lost so much distance and direction,it's a disease can't get rid of it. Any other videos on this topic would be brilliant. I found dropping right arm closer to body a good initiator for the downswing. Keeps everything connected.

    This is a great video. I just came back after playing 18 holes (very disappointed)my first tee shot went straight over 200 yards the second was sort of similar then I started slicing and lost a few balls too. While watching this video I thought I came back too much to the inside before lifting my arms. The reason was I saw another coach saying taking the driver inside from the start. You proved he was wrong it may only be good for him as a pro.

    Backswing plane bang on, Pro’ told me but right shoulder moving out on downswing.
    I think I’m trying to rotate too early so that’s opening me up and pulling shoulder forward.

If my swing were reversed it be killer it goes back in the slot and over the top on the way down. It’s been killing my back. I hit a 290 yard drive yesterday but 40 yards off line.

    Danny..love your vids...I wonder if you could comment on "hitting from the top", and how it impacts the golf shot. By that I mean how one anticipates hitting the ball too early, and "rushes" to impact point rather than waiting and trusting one's swing. Is that the different than "swinging over the top"?

    Great video Danny, over the top is one of many of faults that creep into my game.
    I will try to ingrain your advice into my brain lol.
    However that shot you took that flew into the thick rough/hedgerow i have perfected that like a boss.
    If you need any advice on how to do that consistently i`m your man :-)

    Phenomenal video and some great tips. I assume the email address has been taken down because you were swamped with videos? Completely understandable. Do you have a Patreon or something set up where you can analyze and give a few tips for a fee?
    I’ve been struggling with an over the top swing for my entire life. I’ve watched every RUclips video. Tried all the drills. Nothing seems to work. I just slap it around, get discouraged, and go back to my old swing. I think there are dozens of extremely unique reasons why people come over the top. I would love to get some tips on my exact swing and underlying issues. Thanks for the great content!!

    Hi Danny been struggling with the over the top for a while now I have tried many drills but it works on my practice swing but then still come over the top with my normal swing

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  4 года назад +2

      if its not working on your normal swing then it means you are being distracted by the golf ball or by the actual shot. The trick is to practice FEELING the same thing, almost like its another practice swing. Remember your body will want to react like it always has when the ball is there.
      You need to do your best to ignore the ball and focus initially on the movement

    I’ve always thought if I take the club out on the backswing I’d come back correctly in the downswing. Because the around the clock drill I don’t come over the top. Swing forward and around to my backswing position. Then I swing it’s way better.

    Hi Danny
    really good set of videos thanks that I've just come across. You don't mention the transition move with the lower body first in your 'Over the Top' video. I'm working on this though it is difficult to build in to my swing. When I slid the hips I have difficulty hitting down on the ball as you suggest with the result that I tend to hit on the upstroke - usually a bit thin. I guess its a timing thing? Will keep working on it - many thanks for the advice and keep it coming

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  7 лет назад

      multitube1100 thanks for the feedback. The transition is more of a squat to start the swing. I think I may cover this in my training on how to strike your irons pure from a few months back

    Hey Danny, thanks for another excellent video.
    I have a question, when I start the backswing with my right bicep connected to the chest, and then the lift up, my right knee tends to straighten (does not remain flexed). This makes me lift my head up. How can I avoid this ?
    Thanks again for an excellent video.

    • @DanielMaude

      Sanjay Verma, make sure you don’t have too much weight on your left foot at address. Also try shortening the swing and keep legs more stable

    High Danny , I think I come over the top and shank the ball , it's been happening over last 10 years on and off , never know when it's going to happen and then can't shake it off , I love my golf but this makes me want to give up , any advise would be appreciated even if I need to come and get a one on one with you .

    The hardest part to me is that I don't feel over the top even though I know it is. Hars to fix it when you don't feel like it's wrong. My problem is I can fix it on the range but when I'm 165 to the green on a hole I don't trust anything and swing out of my shoes. Usually digging a trench behind the ball.

    Really interesting video. Not sure if this is what I do. With my irons I find I close the face on impact, hooking the ball. It feels like I go back straight then come back down and round. Does that make sense?

    Thanks for the tips, Danny. For the first time, using these drills, I can see that I am finally coming from the inside. However, now I feel like I am initiating the downswing using my arms, (trying to get my elbow back to my side). Or is this like the Justin Rose drill where “feel isn’t real”?

    Interesting. You seem to say that the first move in the downswing is moving the club (grip) down. Nearly everybody else says that the downswing starts by moving the left hip forward and back (ie "sitting into the swing". Am I misunderstanding you?

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  4 года назад

      Absolutely, the start of the downswing comes from the ground up

    Hi Danny, interesting concept, think I need to give this a try, as shanking/coming over the top chronically!!!
    You mention lifting the arms straight up to finish the backswing but how much wrist-hinge are you using to achieve this plse?
    Cheers
