@@jchowngolf I'm due for a swing checkup soon to guage my progress since last lessons. Will try to get a range session in soon to setup a lesson in skillest asap
This was the "aha" moment for me. My sequencing with my hips and chest with this "disconnected" thought gets me a great position to avoid the over the top. Amazing!
Has to be one of the best instructional videos on correcting the over the top swing that I have seen. Gave me solid things to work on step by step. Thank you for putting this together!
This video will save someone hours and hours of video watching, vetting, experimenting, failing, and butchering their swing. I know because I've done that, and have a 20 ish video playlist that this video essentially explains in less than 30 min. Amazing
Thanks, I will be one of your students with the right shoulder muving over. Thanks for the solutions. I will work on it. Like your lessons. Very complete video. Thanks again.
Brilliant video… appreciate the visual queues (tattoo pointing upwards etc). I find most videos so confusing by vague statements. I’m going to try and implement this in my practice.
Really great instructions presented in a common sense, logical style. You have the golf swing that I want and a lot of the topics seem to address that which ails me.
One question , is lateral movement towards target part of the transition to downswing as hips rotate, or before hip turn? Or do you just focus on hip rotation
It seems to me that most people come “over the top” because they are trying desperately to SQUARE the clubface, and a strong left hand grip feels awkward. 😝 Likewise, golfers swing steep for the same reason. When I shallow the club on the downswing, it just FEELS like the clubface is OPEN. But, yes … a stronger grip (and depth) will help square up the clubface. Good stuff 👍🏻
Watched several times; took the parts that I needed to the range for about a week; looking to shave about 5 stokes off my average to the low 80s; hopefully this works out
That was really good ,another way to stop ovt is to focus on raising your left shoulder up in the downswing, not turning your shoulders around in the downswing , its a Phil Nicholson drill
Just came across your channel. I really like how you coach and communicate. If you are taking request for topics I would love some detail on the transition. I really struggle to get pressure to my left side. When I attempt to do it near the top of the backswing I immediately stop rotating and lifting the club up into position. I think I understand how the sequencing should work. I just can’t do it. I feel completely stuck in the transition phase.
Great separation, lots of forearm pronation and lead wrist flexion. Practically most shallowing moves in the book. Not something I would teach but it works for him
@@jchowngolf yes exactly but the point is, one can get away with going from very steep up to shallow down arc than from shallow up to steep down/over the top.
people come over the top because they try to swing to hard the fore of the swing will push the club out side and only has one way to go and that's back inside over the top
Another great video. I was taught about getting the most X factor , its BS. Let your hips turn around, again look at the past greatest players like Nicholas and don't try to swing like tiger, he ruined his.body trying to beat Jack's record.
Golf is truly a game of opposites, isn’t it 🤔 Hit DOWN to hit the ball UP. Over the top, you think you’d hit it left, but it goes right. Inside out to curve the ball left. No wonder golf is so hard 🙄
Not necessarily, if your path is left and face is square to path, you pull it big time. I routinely get quick, which results in not rotating back fully then over the top. It’s amazing how much further I hit it but unfortunately 30 or 40 yards left.
I hope ppl realize that this is huge amount of valuable instruction for free. Massive thanks Johnathan.
Thanks bud! Lots and lots of info in this video!

Mr. Chown, U R truly " Under Valued " to the golfers wanting to improve & enjoy the sport. Concise, understandable, factual messaging. Thank-You.

This video is INCREDIBLY helpful. I'm rebuilding my swing from the ground up after 25 years to improve my ball striking, and tighten up my dispersion
Absolutely the best lesson, ever. Will apply all of your instructions. Thank you so very much
The best video I have seen to solve this annoying problem.
You are an incredible teacher mate. Cheers from South Africa. Thank you for your lessons and drills.

Just found this, the Step by step instructions and explanations are great
Great video! Never seen it explained in such detail before. Thank you!

Thank you Jonathan this is the best explanation of the golf swing I have ever received. Marcus

You are so right about how difficult it is to break this bad habit. Thanks for the tips and I’ll check out the course.
Thank you, best video on golfing youtube
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed.
Absolute gold for the frustrated ott slicer ie me👍
My pleasure bud, I hope this helps 👍🏼

bro you are helping me a lot with these videos! thanks
Jonathan is such an amazing coach, and an even better person. Thanks so much for everything
I agree, Thanks for the help Jonathan, The best golf instructions I've seen in years.
Such a fantastic video, thanks 🙏

Thanks Steve! Awesome, I’m looking forward to working with you!
Great video thanks. Appreciate the detail and time 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Rob 👍🏼
Subscribed - thank you for the free lesson!
Excellent video specially the training part
Excellent video! Thank you
excellent instruction, thank you
Solid video. Keep repping the rubber band drill. Get that lower body moving first.
Haha the rubber band drill is the best 🤙🏻
Best explanation of an OTT swing (and how to correct it) I've seen.
Super instruction,thanks so much

Great stuff!
I just came across your video very well instructed, but how about some driving tips I keep pulling to the left thank you!!
Great video mate - love the detail and drills to help. Does the swing relate to driver as well?
Chest move staying back some on the down swing… very good
This rocks
Going to be trying this, having real problems with over the top, I’m getting a good strike but the slice is killing me
Have a great time practicing!
I remember when they used to teach resisting rotation, talk about bad for the back!
Brilliant!
Upper and lower body separation is one of the main things which differentiates a scratch/pro from an amateur.
Does the swing thought of pointing your chest away from the target for as long as possible work for driver also?
Absolutely, helps massively with driver
Where did you get your frame & netting for the practice cage???
Just one question. Should I get a tattoo on my left forearm to help with this process? 😉 Good stuff. 👍
Any advise for a golfer like myself that has a spine that is twisted over 4 degrees to the left due to a bad car accident?
If you find this you've found THE holy grail
Brilliant
Thanks Sam!
Excellent instructions!
Is there any difference to this swing with driver
Same with driver 👍🏼
You can thus explain why Matt Wolf goes the other way, very steep to laid off in one motion.

I'm thinking of getting a tattoo on the inside of my left forearm that says "this side up".
