Dan Thanks for the video. Could you please tell me what model of RRS levelling head is that. I recently bought a universal RRS levelling head and was wondering if it's the same one or different one
Hey Dan, I got a question for you. I just purchased the PG-02 gimbal, and I noticed right away that the panning base was not silky smooth like the vertical axis. RRS told me the base should be just as smooth as the vertical arm. I sent the base back to RRS, and they sent me another one, and it feels the same. I can hear it, and feel it in the lense when I pan. On the one you have is the panning base buttery smooth like the vertical axis? I am really bummed about this. Thanks for your time!
a bit late but... I have two different vertical arms for my PG 02. They are both very smooth. When I using the system, the system is never on my mind as it just works.

This RRS Gimbal head is not suitable for action photography like fast moving subjects such as birds and aircraft. More importantly, the design, center of gravity and mounting of heavy equipment such as 300, 400 and 600mm is undesirable and more so dangerous for safety of equipment let alone its efficacy in ensuring optimum result.
Dr Ramakrishnaiah H. That has not been my experience. I have used this numerous times tracking birds in flight (terms, in particular, which fly very erratically), and this has been the best solution I’ve come across. You can set it up to center over your tripod perfectly. My only issue is that using it with the leveling base (in my case, the series 3 leveling base on the TVC-34), load capacity is half that of the tripod (25 lbs. vs. 50 lbs.).
I have found this gimbal head to be extremely useful and very safe. I have a leveling base that is rated for 50 lb.s (as opposed to 25 lb.s) I also use the cradle mount as opposed to the side mount. The ability to follow moving objects (birds, fighter jets, etc.) is made almost effortless and tracks smoothly. This is accomplished thru learning how to properly balance your rig. I am not sure what would cause someone to believe this causes safety issues aside from user error, but that would not be the fault of this equipment. Currently using Canon 1Dx Mark III and 400mm f/2.8. on a RRS TVC-45 tripod.

Ok, good to know, I am looking in to getting the "old" 300mm f2.8 IS so that makes me feel better! Awesome photography :)

next time include your face in video. Having voice and just your arm looks weird.
That's not normal these days. Just fyi. Rare anyone shows face, it's absolutely necessary.
