The PG-02 MKII has a ton of great features. Joe Johnson Sr goes over them and gives some use cases that you can utilize them in. Learn more about the PG-02 MKII at www.reallyrigh...
I appreciate the update and information about the new gimbal head. It might be my video screen, but the video was very dark and the features of the black gimbal head against the black background were very hard to see.
With that particular tripod (the TFCT) it already has an Avil-30 ARC head on it, which will work for the PG-02 with the proper dovetail connection. However, if you're using any of the RRS standard tripods like the Ultralight, Versa, TVC, or the TFC the PG-02 will simply mount on the bolt right on top of the tripod without the clamp.
Nice informative video about the update. Although the weight savings is nice, I'm still perfectly happy with the MKI version since it isn't something I take out shooting when I'm overly concerned about saving weight.
Can you comment on the benefits of a cradle clamp vs. the side mount as you had available in your previous PG and FG version? I’m all for simplicity but wanted to know the reasoning behind going away from that iteration.
If you use a cradle you can place the lens center of gravity slightly below the pivot to make it self-leveling. I prefer using a self-leveling option with long lenses.
The tripod is a modified ground pod (-32g) that includes a TFCT apex w/ Anvil head. This isn't a configuration we sell, but it would be easy enough to frankenstein together if you owned both a TFCT- and a TVC-32g. This was just used for demonstration purposes because it fit nicely on the table-top. Generally speaking, the TFCT- isn't the greatest option for pano- work. A leveling base or a photo-centric ballhead will suit you better as something to level with underneath the PG-02.

Great video. I also prefer the side-mount version. I'm extremely happy with it so far. I carry it all over the world.

Video is way too dark. When will the fluid head gimbals be back?

Is this the best option from RRS for sports photographers needing a gimbal for large lenses, say 400/600/800 mm?
I'm still using the original PG-02 VA and CB18 bar. Still prefer the petal knob to tighten loosen vertical tilt, even when wearing thick gloves
Guys what happened to the TP-243? im guessing this new ground pod replaces it?

What tripod Mr. Joe is using?
Really Right Stuff TVC-32G tripod
@@696808 Sorry to ask but are you sure, the apex looks like a TFC to me, TVC is beefier.
Could be, but they don’t sell a TFC version according to their website. Only TVC.

@@ReallyRobSteffen Thank you Rob, I see it now, it makes the 32G much more compact!
Huh…why’d the video so dark?
