  • The Cartune Company (2003) Ltd in New Zealand does 1uz and 3uz conversions / parts and wiring. We have been working on UZ Toyota V8 engines since 2004 when we did our own Hiace van to transport dirtbikes around NZ. Since then we have swapped to doing mainly just Lexus V8 work from a family owned farm hidden away in our paradise , surrounded by the NZ native bush. We sell parts and simple to follow wiring instructions for the 1uzfe engines. For enquiries email info@thecartunecompany.co.nz Take Care. Kelvin

      This was inspired by many calls about this topic and one customer who may have made a slight mistake when assembling his engine , we did apologize for not wiring his engine to suit his incorrect cam phasing , but I did manage to diagnose over the phone. haha.

      @@CartuneNZ After how you helped me all the way from NZ last summer, I believe you can do ANYTHING related to UZ motors, Kelvin!

    Kelvin,
    If I don’t have the belt on anymore, can I just align TDC, and the dots to get the timing right? Or is there more to it?
    Also, if you get it wrong, will the valves hit the pistons and damage them?
    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Hey Kelvin! I lined up the double dot to double dot on the LH cylinder head instead of single dot to single dot and put everything back together and it runs very poorly and stalls. Did i bend those valves in that head?

    Have you heard of people skipping a tooth on on the cam pulley to give the cams more overlap? Possibly move the powerband up? On a standalone ecu of course

      Yes, this has been talked about from before I started with uz engines 16 years ago so nothing new, shifts power delivery point however these days with replacement camshafts being much more common there are better choices and options available. Cheers Kelvin

    Is this the same setting for a 3UZ as well?
    Put crank and timing belt at TDC and cams together at the single dot?

    Kelvin, what pray tell are the "double" dots for? Another reference mark?

      Could they be on the 360 degree off on crank and be aligned?
      So number 1 cyl not on compression stroke??
      Might tell you where you’re at during the other half of the cycle

      The two dots are to confuse people, haha, they are one crank revolution, or half a cam revolution different to the single dots , and the inspiration for this video can confirm aligning one dot with two dots results in a popping engine which does not run.

    Quick question. Would having these marks incorrect, would it cause a no spark situation?

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  Год назад

      Not normally on a stock ecu, it does however on some aftermarket ecus. Cheers Kelvin

    Would the car run fine being 1 tooth off on the scissor gears ?

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  2 года назад

      Negative, it would run poorly in most cases. Cheers Kelvin
