    Jeff, I highly appreciate your disassemble videos and also the o-ring and instructions provided. Me and my brother changed out the vvti cam gear o-ring, cam seals, full water pump, timing belt and swapped in a 6-speed tensioner.
    Haven't heard much from you lately in terms of the scene, must be staying busy! Hope to see you continue in the 2jz game and post up some more videos!

  • @PowerDynamix
    @PowerDynamix  11 лет назад +4

    Yes you can do that, but you will need a VERY hard metal. Maybe even diamond? I have tried using a tungsten alloy tip to scribe the area and it didn't work. I think the pulley is heat treated for higher durability. Alternatively you can just use a paint pen to make the marking.

  • @PowerDynamix
    @PowerDynamix  12 лет назад

    It only needs once cam position sensor. That's how the factory is setup as well and it does it just fine. You have to wire up one side of the VVTi solenoid to the AEM's extra PWM1 or PWM2 output. Then for the other side of the solenoid, it needs to be hooked up to a switched 12v+. Then setup the EMS and tune accordingly. If you don't know how to tune VVTi, then I would suggest you just leave it hooked up to the stock computer and let it control the vvti.

  • @PowerDynamix
    @PowerDynamix  12 лет назад

    Ideally, yes it's better to have everything controlled by the EMS. But if vvti is not controlled correctly, you will actually lose power. The stock ecu does a pretty good job of controlling it. So that's why I said, you should just let the stock ecu handle vvti if you are not 100% confident on setting vvti through the EMS.There are not many tuners in the country that can do vvti on ems. If your tuner does not specialize in this engine then I would suggest you use stock ecu for vvti control.

  • @PowerDynamix

    Arthur Swails If you simply know about the material characteristics. You can look it up on a materials chart. The factory o-ring is neoprene temp rated to 250F. We use viton o-ring which is much longer lasting and more durable temp rated to 400F. These o-ring kits will outlast the factory o-ring. You are certainly entitled to buy a whole new pulley from Toyota for $200 or you can order a rebuild kit from us for $20. The product has been in my personal cars for over 7 years now with no signs of leaking. The factory seal will leak at 10 years. Time will tell if this will outlast the factory one, but at 1/10 the cost the choice is up to you.

    Okay, i got the seals from you guys, went through the process of the rebuild just as you've described in the video, here's my issue...
    Upon re-installation, the cam gear can rotate roughly 25 degrees from one side to the other, i set the cam itself to the far left position via the allen bolt inside the cam, so at this point, ive started the car and have practically no throttle response or power until about 4500rpms.
    Anything you can do to point me in the right direction would be fantastic.

    where do you get the o-rings and what size are they

  • @jbpost52
    @jbpost52 3 года назад

    Do they make silicon O rings for it? I watched a few videos of internal components of oil filters and the same thing occurs inside the filter with the rubber type seal, a few manufacturers are starting to use silicon or neoprene because when the rubber is hard the silicon and neoprene is still pliable.

    • @PowerDynamix
      @PowerDynamix  3 года назад

      Silicone is not as chemical/oil resistant as Viton and they will break down faster over time. Neoprene is what is used from the factory and they harden and crack over time. The Viton material is much more resistant to heat and harsh chemicals/oils.

    • @jbpost52
      @jbpost52 3 года назад

    Did that and timing belts and seals now i got a P1346 😂. Hopefully it wasnt because of the rebuild. Car runs fine and smooth it just have that code. Maybe it just happens that the vvt solenoid went bad

      check electrical connections to the sensor. Make sure that the plug is all the way in.
